when i play avi or mpeg videos on my computer the video will only show up on 1 of 2 screens (whichever screen contains the bigger part of the video. but i want the video to span both screens.graphics card is nvidia geforce fx 5500 (dual head) with the monitors set up as a horizontal span such that windows sees only 1 monitor with a 2048x768 resolution.i've encountered this problem on other computers with regular dual monitor setups too

check the nvidia drop down box under display -> properties -> settings -> advanced -> geforce tab -> overlay controls (or something similar) and look for "full screen video mirroring controls". under the "full screen device" you should be able to pick what monitor you want to mirror to...

are you sure the higher end cards don't accelerate all monitors (I'm talking nvidia quatro cards)? I'm pretty sure they do, but they also can cost well over 1000 bucks. also, parahelia has some good multi-monitor features, but that card line is also pretty damn expensive. none of those high-end pro cards is rated well in game though, so if you're a gamer and want advanced multiple monitor tools and support... you may be out of luck.[Edited on September 13, 2005 at 9:27 PM. i can mirror the video overlay all i want just fine. i want the video overlay half on each screen though.it works if i'm watching a DVD and runs fine at 4096x1536. in fact the video runs fine at any resolution unless i have a directX type application running at the same time. i want to rip DVDs and store them on my hard drive (crop 2.35:1 videos a little so that theyre 2.5:1 or 2.67:1) and then scale them to fill both screens for playback.sadly, the spanning only seems to work for DVDs

Luckily you can do this with nvidia cards.

smoothcrim, that's what nvidia calls it, it DOES span both screens, it's not a clone[Edited on September 14, 2005 at 8:01 PM. Reason : .]
