As much as I'm for it, he's too old.
9/9/2005 3:32:16 PM
That and his retardation. Other then that, he's perfect.
9/9/2005 3:34:55 PM
Would you vote for mccain if you knew he had an illegitimate black child?
9/9/2005 3:37:52 PM
why not, i'd still vote for Jefferson
9/9/2005 3:41:00 PM
Two words: Pipe dream.
9/9/2005 3:45:40 PM
I like him, but he'd be older than Reagan (previous oldest) was at the time he'd step in. I can't go for that.
9/9/2005 4:13:04 PM
i hear he's in pretty good health...definitely good enough that i would roll the dice. i mean, what's the worst that could happen? McCain die and we end up with some guy who we would've had if he hadn't ran? I'll take my chances.

Duke,I might buy that depending on who his running mate is. McCain should have gotten the nod in 2000 instead of the current dipshit we have now.The last two presidential elections have been painful to watch. In a nation of 250 million people, with plenty of doctors, professors, lawyers, farmers, captians of industry, etc.. these are the people who get selected to run? God damn!/registered independent since '88

^ hes gonna need a GIANT warchest to win in the southern primaries with all his black babbieshey id like to see him as prez too, i just dont think the republican attack machine would ever let it happen.which is why the Clinton-McCain ticket is the way to do. hey i can dream.[Edited on September 10, 2005 at 1:32 AM. Why is everyone so obsessed with McCain?
9/10/2005 3:04:02 AM
you can just tell he would be a good president-he must be incredibly in love with this country, you KNOW you can trust him bc of him military history-hes moderate, hes the middle, he represents the majority of americans-he doesnt bullshit, we know this becuase of the way hes been talking about the republicans-hes not vindictively intellegent like karl rove, and not slightly retarded like other presidents i know-hes good lookinghes got 60% support from reps., dems and inds.hes a shoe-in if he can get nominated. hes an awful public speaker though. its murder to listen to his speeches. hopefully that will change.[Edited on September 10, 2005 at 3:38 AM. i hit the nail right on the head bro. its common knowledge.
9/10/2005 12:35:33 PM
he's not really a dynamic speaker. i wouldn't describe him as an awful speaker.
9/10/2005 12:48:35 PM
^probably becuase we know mccain got screwed by the republicans and is a moderate.
9/10/2005 12:49:52 PM
mccain-guilliani?
9/10/2005 12:57:43 PM
gulliani's got alot of baggage, plus there's that pro-choice thing. The fundies would railroad his ass.
9/10/2005 12:59:59 PM
mccain-guilliani ?are you people insane. HELLO if you think that ticket has a chance of getting thru the primaries youre insane. the right will only support whack christian nutbags like frist. they will get beaten to shit for being godless pro-choice sodomites. they dont stand a chance as republicans.[Edited on September 10, 2005 at 1:03 PM. McCain did get screwed by the GOP, but in a lot of ways, he's more conservative than President Bush. he's more of an old-skool republican. he's socially somewhat to the right, and economically further to the right. he is in no way, shape, or form a Democrat in Republican guise, though.a big reason lots of Republicans don't like him (probably THE biggest reason) is his push for campaign finance reform.

Bush is no conservative by any means.-exponential expansion of federal govt.-gives not a shit about illegial immigration-Iraq adventureEtc, etc. These days, republican =/= conservative./conservative wanting to clean house.
9/10/2005 8:27:16 PM
i agree, the GOP has left true all conservatives except the hardcore social conservatives (and hard line libertarians) politically homeless.but what i don't understand is how so many Democrats are such big fans of McCain. I mean, i understand why they like him better than a lot of Republicans, but it blows my mind how much actual support he has from the opposite party (as opposed to backhanded, "he's a lesser evil" attitude).
9/10/2005 8:31:53 PM
He comes off as a guy that can work out compromise when necessary. He's also worked on a number of bi-partisian committees and co-sponsored bills with dems before.Like I said, I like the guy and would have voted for him in 2000 instead of this goatfuck administration that we ended up with. I don't think he's going to get the nod in 2008 but alots going to depend on whole the next year's shenanigans work out. If things keep going the way they're going, the dems could gain a few seats in 2006 and set themselves up in 2008. The current dems have no sense of leadership overall right now, so I'm not holding my breath.Hell I'd vote for Dean if he ran. Anything is better than what we've got right now. One party running all branches of govt. is a recipe for a clusterfuck.
9/10/2005 8:40:34 PM
oh don't worry - they are only fond of him because he's not a republican presidentif he were elected, you'd see the same amount of vitriol coming from the left

^ I think that the bar is set so goddamn low right now that anyone can do alright on the public stage. McCain just lays it out like "Yeah - the shit is fucked up." Bush's "folksiness" is just painful to listen to. I swear he's either a dry drunk or still getting liquired/coked up at Crawford. I've seen some early debates with him in Tejas and he's most definetly gone donehill.
9/11/2005 8:22:46 AM
I thought he was a "rhino" and the right disliked him now?
