What does this mean? Since graduating and moving back to the mountains everyone thinks I know alot about computers since I am "educated." Albeit I do know a thing or two, I am no whiz. Hell, I was a zoology major not Comp. sci. or anything like that.

My in-laws comp. locked up on them. It is a beautiful POS Sony Vaio PCV-RX 756.

Does this error message mean the HD is fried? Would a new HD resolve the issue?

Sony's support sucks royally stating:
Quote :
"The Disk Access Sense Operation Failed error message cannot be resolved without service. The system needs to be serviced to resolve this error.
"

What can be done without paying Sony to fix it? For their asking price, they could buy a new computer and scrap the Vaio altogether!

Any help would be greatly appreciated from an old alumnus in WNC.
