WOW. I realize to a lot of you a stock s2000 isn't an especially quick car, and no... it didn't feel THAT much quicker than my own car, at least not in a straight line or on 540 and hwy 55 (different cars, it wasn't THAT long of a test drive), but holy cow is that car fun. And when you pass ~6000 rpm... I passed under an overpass on 540 when I got it up that high for the first time in the 2nd car and jeezus the sound that little car made. It felt like a much bigger motor had crept up under the car and snuck in from out of nowhere. It rivalled turbo lag I've felt in some friends' cars. regardless of the speed, it was screaming fun at any pace and I can't even imagine how great it would be if there was more shove earlier... I'm thinkin comptech.... damn.... can't wait 'til I've got some money to burn... whew.... stayed up all night thinking about that little car.

if you stayed up all night after driving an S2000 on straight roads, you'll be up for a week after you get ahold of one on some windy roads

^there were some curves, but yeah, I think you're right. I mentioned the straighter bits because those were a little troubling in that unless you're really running it hard (think 6000+), neither s2000 felt dramatically quicker than my overweight but otherwise loveable lincoln ls v8.

I drove one and it was very sluggish until it hit Y0!VTAK, but it still seemed like a car I could enjoy. Just gotta keep it revvin'.

^^ same, my roommates SS Camaro Cov. just seems oversized and unprepared to do ANYTHING besides going in a straight line.

i drove a SS Camaro around an autox course a couple weeks ago while we were setting it up. man that was wild. it was fast as hell, but i've never felt more out of control in a car before throttle on oversteer, throttle off oversteer, understeer unless your perfect on throttle, huge hood so i couldnt see, loose steering. i dont know how those guys autox it

I just took my S2000 to the Dragonball Run S2ki event at the Tail of the Dragon last weekend...god I love that road, it was my third time up there This car is just unreal on twisty roads, and I have crappy BF Goodrich tires...I'm definately getting Bridgestone Potenza S02s put on it in a month when I get my beater back. I even managed to make my friend who has never been motion sick (car, plane, roller coaster, or anything) puke with my driving on the Dragon, lol. Such a hardcore road...

So are you thinking about actually getting one? If so I recommend checking out s2ki.com, lots of good information on there. I highly recommend it...this car is so much fun I put 7000 miles on it since May, even though I spent 5 weeks in California and a week in Montreal!

Deal's Gap rocks, although it has an appetite for fast cars and bikes

and the comptech sc doesn't do too much down low...it just comes on a whole shit ton harder above 6k (i mean, it helps some below that, but it improves the top third of the tach more than anything else).

and ^,

i dont know about a comptech kit, but i have driven one with the vortech kit w/ a 9 psi pulley and it definitely cured the low-end lag. it actually had a nice, smooth powerband all the way through redline. a s/c would definitely be the way i would go if it were mine. it ran consistent 13.1's which is much to brag about but it definitely can keep a smile on your face while you daily drive it.

i had the comptech kit with a lil over 7 psi...
you feel the boost at 4500 and on...
i believe the stock pulley (5.5psi) you feel after 5500?

yeah, i'm still on the stock pulley. it really comes on hard about 6k. makes a little difference under that, but the VTEC transition is where everything really comes alive.

^^^^Yup, it ate the front bumper off of two S2000's this past weekend...both women too. Sucks when two of the rare women that come to these things wreck and have 2nd thoughts about ever coming again I didn't hear about any fatalities though, which is an improvement from the last trip I made up there (2 fatalities that weekend). I did hear about a guy that got his helmet clipped by a truck after he fell but was perfectly ok...helluva story to tell.

I think the problem this past weekend was that a lot of people who hadn't had any training at all were trying to keep up with those of us who have had some (myself) who were trying to keep up with the badasses, lol.

I appreciate the lack of ricebashing thus far
yeah, I've been thinking about getting one... I imagine I'll pussy out but the s2000 is easily the most fun car I've test driven in the last year, and that's actually saying something since I've almost turned it into a sport!
I'll have to make a list of cars that I've driven just for the hell of it from this past year... pretty much at least one of every obvious category... pickups, unibody suv, bodyonframesuv, rwd lux, fwd lux, roadster, econo, midsizezzzzz.....

I like the s2000 feel and shifter, but even at 9k rpm it is still week. I would buy one though bc they are a lot of fun.

I was just noticing the whole:

Quote :
"even at 9k rpm it is still week"

And I thought, "9krpm = 7 days." You know, week weak etc.

Thus it was written.
