hahahahahhahathe day i got my licence gas was $0.86/gallon
8/30/2005 10:16:09 AM
$0.87/gal when I first got my car - a drive to Raleigh cost about $5.00
8/30/2005 10:24:42 AM
It was in the 60-70 cent range when I first started driving... but that was also in SC where gas is always about 10 cent cheaper than NC... it only took me $5 to fill my beginner car up.
8/30/2005 12:46:09 PM
Those were the days... I remember when it hit $1.30 and people were freaking out... $2.60 is too much I thought the war was over oil... where the hell is it?
8/30/2005 1:01:31 PM
i would be more then happy with 2.25 a gallon today
8/30/2005 2:38:07 PM
Up to 2.80 in Durham/Chapel Hill... for regular.
8/30/2005 10:47:58 PM
Remember when $11/hour sounded like a lot of money?
8/31/2005 12:09:40 AM
and i could get a pack of basics for less than a buck.
8/31/2005 11:52:45 AM
I remember being 18, getting 2 gallons of gas, 2 am/pm corndogs, and a pack of Marlboros for 5 bucks. Them were the days.
8/31/2005 3:43:19 PM
just bc i feel like it...gas is up to 3.09 in wilmington today
8/31/2005 3:51:55 PM
Yeah, when I started driving $15 would fill up the 18-gallon tank in my Malibu. If I were to fill up the 18-gallon tank on my Lincoln today (granted, it does take premium) it would probably cost me almost $60.
8/31/2005 4:11:52 PM
Remember when 11 dollars.......bought you a gallon of gas?those were the days...[Edited on August 31, 2005 at 4:24 PM. Reason : .]
8/31/2005 4:24:24 PM
2.99 a gallon everywhere on Capital
8/31/2005 4:24:39 PM
8/31/2005 4:40:02 PM
$17/gallon-ZiP!-
8/31/2005 5:53:31 PM
^^ so the idea of $11/hr was like OMFG!!then you grew up and realized what bills were
8/31/2005 11:36:20 PM
those were the days...my first car took $10 and some change to fill it up (at $.80/gallon)YESTERDAY I PAID 40 EVEN TO FILL UP A FUCKING GALANT. and i don't even curse like that.
9/1/2005 12:50:15 PM
yep 29 dollars to fill up my cavalier, and that was a few days ago when it was still 2.5x
9/1/2005 1:05:00 PM
Let's see if I get the quote right...When I was a kid a hamburger cost a nickel. Now it costs a dollar. But I can sure get a dollar today a lot easier than I could a nickel then....not to say gas prices aren't outpacing normal inflation by about 500% - which is crazy.
9/1/2005 3:49:57 PM
no gas prices HAVEN"T been following inflation for the past 30 years, and they are now correcting themselves. According to the consumer price index compared with bread milk and other daily items gas SHOULD be ~$3/gallon, this sucks but its economics... US happens to have a volumn buying option though since we are SOOOO dependant, so its a little cheaper.when I started driving it was ~$0.99... this was the summer it got all the way down to $0.69 in SCI could fill my aerostar (crapbrown van) for <$10... now it costs $70 to fill my truck... thank GOD for a g/f with a 30mpg vehicle. I'm no longer locked down to raleigh...
9/7/2005 10:40:34 PM
Those were the days. Cheapest I ever personally paid for a gallon was 85 cents. A grad student can live on those kinds of prices
9/7/2005 11:01:21 PM
I can remember when gas was like 69cents a gallon.
9/8/2005 1:40:43 AM
i remember when a gas station in g-boro would have a weekly special between certain hours every wednesday... i could fill my tank up for 8 bucks.
9/8/2005 5:52:30 PM
78 cents a gallon in Spring of 1999 in Greensboro. And exxon would do premium for regular prices every other tuesday.
9/8/2005 7:49:27 PM
