^ that's a negativeTruely any amount is fair for air horns. Especially after the first time you scare the shit out of some pedestrian cutting in fron t of your car at a stop or turn

i got some air horns from harbor freight for something like $15. unfortunately they are plastic and the heat from my exhaust melted them so now they sound like shitone day i will invest in locomotive horns. the ones that have 5 individual horns and require an air tank to run.

i believe [loser]underPSI[/loser] recently got him some err herns
8/25/2005 7:32:09 PM
why yes, you fucking fag, i did.first, you need this:a compressor. mine is only a 130psi compressor but i have a much stronger 100% duty cycle i got from a fire engine that i will install later.next, you need a tank to store the air. this is a firestone 300psi 7-port 7 gallon tank. i have a quick-connect for an air hose to fill tires with, etc., that will go next to the gauge but i haven't had time to install it yet. you'll also need a pressure switch to tell the compressor to shut off at a desired psi. mine is installed on the left side of the tank.and you'll need an electric solenoid to operate your horns. this is installed on the inside of the frame rail.then finally you'll need a set of horns which can be had off of ebay but i got mine off of an old fire engine. these are mounted on the left side of the truck underneath the cab and aren't visible unless you get on the ground.here is my pedal switch i installed to operate my air horns so i also have use of the electric horns if i don't want to blow out somebody's eardrum.my setup is much louder than the fire engine these horns came off of due to the fact that i used larger air line and a better valve.

You really dont need a tank that large, a 3-gallon would work just fine.
8/25/2005 11:20:23 PM
a small tank would work for just horns, but with a larger tank you can do other shit like operate air tools, fill tires, air ride suspensionbrian...can i hear your horns sometime?also any other extra horns on old trucks laying around? i'd be happy with fire engine horns as locomotive horns are way overkill.
8/25/2005 11:39:44 PM
a locomotive horn hooked up to a car security system would be awesomecan you imagine the look on the theif's face?
8/26/2005 12:07:30 AM
I had considered an OBA system in the past, and with my recent air horn interest, I figured why not and just do both at the same time.
8/26/2005 12:13:24 AM
^well, plan to spend around $300 for a complete system. and if you dont understand the how a relay works, study up on one before you start the task 'cause you'll need them.
