i broke mine the other day. those things are expensive, too, especially the full setthe way i went around it, i cut the old link in half, then put it in the vise and knocked the old pins out with a hammer and a punch (a nail would work too). then i put a new Quicklink on with a set of plyers (or channellocks or visegrips)

are you changing sprockets?here's what i did if the old chain will fit on the new sprockets.I changed the sprokets and left the old chain on there. then i rode up to the bike shop with my new chain and asked them to put it on. that way i could use a master link rather than a quicklink and i didn't have to buy the tool.they actually didn't charge me anything for it since it takes all of like 10 minutes.I went by and asked them if they would do that for me first, and I was willing to pay for it as well, but they said it was no charge, so i wasn't about to complain.
