8/14/2005 12:19:18 AM
^ Hah you bet...Ok so im gonna need a new lift and shocks... im considering the same set up with Rubicon Express Superflex and Old Man Emu shocks.... but i also saw a Full Traction kit w/ shocks that looked decent... anyone have rants/raves or know anything about Full Traction kits? Ive never heard about them...
8/14/2005 1:55:11 AM
The Rubicon Express kit is the jam.My friend just got his '01 done (he installed it all himself over the summer...big job) and it's hype:EDIT: 5.5" kit I believe[Edited on August 14, 2005 at 10:06 AM. Reason : .]
8/14/2005 10:06:05 AM
i like the articulation that red x gets on the rocks
8/14/2005 12:53:57 PM
^^ It's not that big of a job... took me bout 7 hours to done my old RE lift... and yes, your red X's are awesome either on the rocks or in the mud...
8/14/2005 2:48:27 PM
Full traction is owned by calmini, and they suck in the customer service dept. Don't know abou how well it works. I'd stick with RE 4.5" with OME shocks or the monotube ones. make sure you get all 8 control arms in a kit.or if money doesn't matter, go longarms.
8/14/2005 3:14:24 PM
HA unfortunately it does matter... im gonna be runnin 33's (can't take any more beatings on gas since it's my DD also)... so im looking at the RE 3.5 Superflex kit...The thing about the Full Traction kit is that it comes with more stock suspension part replacements rather than modifying some of the stock parts of the jeep with the RE kit...
8/14/2005 3:47:13 PM
33's? just throw some spacers on stick with RE if you get a full kit.
8/14/2005 4:47:37 PM
GO GAMECOCKS
8/14/2005 5:52:14 PM
clayton longarm kit

clayton bigsby kit

i have heard some really good things about full traction the last year or so. i have wheeled tellico twice with 2 tjs running full traction setups and was very impressed by the quality and function of the lift.
8/14/2005 11:38:20 PM
^ Really? Comes with more parts and is cheaper... but ive had RE in the past and was very happy... it's a hard choice...

Hmm ok i need to figure out what rear axle i have... i know it's either a D35 or a D44... but i don't know how to tell the difference... And does anyone have a spare axle shaft for either of the 2 stated above...
8/15/2005 10:38:14 PM
post a picture of the cover
8/16/2005 12:40:50 AM
rubber fill plug = D35metal fill plug = D44this would have been the first thing I'd have looked at
8/16/2005 12:54:20 AM
Im thinking ive got a D35... so... does anyone have a spare axle shaft they'd like to sell me???
8/16/2005 1:53:10 AM
BTTT... come on guys... i know someone has to have one laying around...
8/16/2005 1:17:05 PM
why do you need a shaft? if you just want spare parts, start with a carrier first for that axle
8/16/2005 1:39:09 PM
Nah i wish it was that... found out i have a bent axle shaft...
8/16/2005 1:49:04 PM
find a 44 to swap inor a 60 or 14b
8/16/2005 3:31:52 PM
how'd the shaft get bent? might want to have the housing checked out. bearings and seals too...
8/16/2005 3:44:06 PM
^^ I'd like to but i don't think i have the money or time right now...^ Not sure how it got bent... i just took the tire and breaks off and saw that it wobbled a little... and of course with the rim and tire on it exaggerates the wobble... not to mention i can def tell when im doin 55mph+... however the housing seemed fine while i was underneath and there are no leaks or anything... just appears to be a bent axle shaft...
8/16/2005 4:13:58 PM
Also, when i jack up the front end of the jeep and try to spin the tires... (everything is in neutral and what not)... there's a ton of resistance... more than usual... any ideas as to why that is?
8/18/2005 1:09:02 AM
good job on your new purchase! lol
8/18/2005 2:42:18 AM
haha can - o - worms
8/18/2005 8:23:50 AM
^^^yea you got the parking brake on
8/18/2005 10:47:01 AM
isn't this all stuff that should have been checked before purchase?i hope you got one killer deal on this thing
8/18/2005 11:05:37 AM
there's going to be some resistance. it is a full time 4wd system... you shouldn't be straining to turn the wheels or anything though. just drive the damn thing.
8/18/2005 11:26:14 AM
8/18/2005 12:25:35 PM
Is this the one with the auto? or did you find a 5-spd?
8/18/2005 12:42:15 PM
This is a 5-speed
