after further research, it was also delivered in 2003... not last month. it became popular at election time as something for bush supporters to pass around, though upon questioning the captain was adamant that when he wrote it he wasn't intending to make any political statement concerning the presidency.

A number of the attacks he mentioned were by bin Laden and Al-qaeda. How is invading Iraq "waking up"? Where is Osama bin Laden? The real wake up call will occur when Americans realize that Bush has made our country less safe than ever before.

I wonder if Captain Ouimette feels the same way today as he did over 2 years ago. It was posted on 19 Feb 2003 http://www.orbusmax.com/alerts/americawakeup_031903.html[Edited on August 9, 2005 at 4:03 PM. Reason : You sure he gave that speech last month? ]

Joshnumbers says "how can you kill all the terrorists if terrorism is just a choice of military engagement"terrorism is NOT just a choice of military engagement. Terrorism is targeting innocents.[Edited on August 9, 2005 at 9:53 PM. Reason : .]

8/10/2005 11:43:21 AM
well obviously the conservatives in this country won't let that stop them from trying
8/10/2005 11:46:00 AM
well since we dont intend on killing civilians, its okjust like when i tell my teacher, i intended on doing my HW
8/10/2005 11:48:07 AM
Wait, when we say "20,000 Iraqi Civilians killed" what are we including? Are terrorist victims being included, or does that only include "bomb missed" and "trigger happy private"? I find it hard to believe we have directly killed 20,000 civilians, accidentally or otherwise. I'm not questioning the validity of including terrorist victims in the statistics, we are responsible for securing the country, I simply wonder what percentage of the total we are legally culpable for.
8/10/2005 12:31:51 PM
20,000 sounds off to me also^the official CIA estimate is 100,000
8/10/2005 12:38:40 PM
^^ The 20,000 numbers also includes people not killed by the United States. It includes civilians killed by suicide bombs and a bunch of others.http://www.iraqbodycount.net/database/
8/10/2005 1:51:36 PM
http://www.iraqbodycount.net/they say between 23,000 and 26,500 iraqi civilian casualties due to the military intervention in iraq. there is an faq on that site which details their methodology for getting those numbers.[Edited on August 10, 2005 at 1:56 PM.
