for those of of you w/ an hp addiction tripple blown bigblocks @ about 140-150ish btw... i've done alot of work on those motors .....1500ish hp a piece...my babys make me so proud

that is awesome
8/8/2005 8:10:15 AM
yepp... not too often you see a mopar powered boat either but when she's rocking custom surface drives... why not? 3 500 cube hemis with low psi blowers (big blowers still but only pushin 9ish lbs of boost so there are no worries of the dreaded boom)

Fickin' to say...got a friend who has a cabin cruiser with two Mopar 440's.They were really common in the '70's...

yeah omc used them but they're defunct sooo and mercruiser/volvo sterndrives mate to gm bellhousings (which if you call up a few company's can be adapted to mopar motors but... you know)anyway... she's got some of these hangin out the back hence the roostertail

What kind of work do you do?
8/8/2005 4:37:14 PM
me? pfftt this isn't work this is fun and i've just helped build and tune the motorsthat boat is owned by a local plumbing contractor in charlotte
8/8/2005 5:41:15 PM
one day ill have people to clean my boat tooill even let them say they helped tune the motor
8/9/2005 7:24:36 AM
Yea seriously, where does a 22 yr old get the knowledge to be trusted to tune something like this. Methinks you are embellishing a little about something.
8/9/2005 8:11:06 AM
fuckin a dude... just cause you don't know shit doesn't mean the rest of us are ignorant.i've been working on cars since i was 5. i owned my first car when i was 12 ( which didn't run until i was 13 ) just because you dumb fucks grew up in suburbia w/ mommy and daddy buying you cars that wer brand new and damn near impossible to learn simple mechanical skills on... doesn't mean we all did.not only that i did spend alot of time cleaning off top fuel funny cars & the shop for them just so i could get some time learning how to build motors with my friend chris (Chris Cunningham co-crewchief for dale worsham) so when one of my clients found out he had someone who know how to build much more complex motors than simple blown carbed gas motors there was no questioning when help was offered.with the right connections and the right initiative you can know anything you want
8/9/2005 12:58:58 PM
^ nigga is right.you learn a lot even if you are the accountant for a company like that.its like working at a detists office as a receptionist or something. you can always work your way up by hands on experience.
8/9/2005 1:01:02 PM
hahah .... gg but rednex =/= dentist most people that run engine shops have NO education... just alot of time working on cars etc. i mean chris went to a 2yr school to be certified to work on airplanes... thats his only post h.s. schooling btw... my 2nd car
8/9/2005 1:05:10 PM
Look bitch, you were the one that was all secretive on details when I asked what it is you do. You still haven't divulged how you gained knoweldge to "tune" (and maybe you should define tune while you're at it) a 3 engined blown beast. It is one thing to hang around a shop and pick up bits and peices, it is quite another thing for someone to trust a rookie to do some shit like this (ie, this is where you tell me other engines you personally were in charge of "tuning")...And before you start fucking assuming a lot about me, just know my country assed dad and uncle built a 3 bay shop bigger than our house when I was 6 and I learned a thing or two about wrenching (which I forgot a lot of because honestly working on cars is boring). My ass was running around the back of a 5.40s 1/8 69 Camaro alcohol injected small block squirting VHT under some big fucking Mickey Thompsons when I was 7 years old (this was pre insurance days) at Mooresville Dragstrip. So don't fucking think for one god damned second, because I don't know as much about cars these days as you guys do (who btw, spend all your time with them), that I grew up in fuckin suburbia with parents holding my dick to piss. You could have saved us all a lot of trouble by taking a little time to answer the inquiries appropriately and not requiring me to make assinine comments in rebuttal to your secrecey.

ok1. you won't see a single engine boat over 30' for the most part unless its a cat or it has a massive diesel (that one is 42' ) thats a full blown offshore setup complete with kevlar shelled cockpit.2. the t-bird was actually cheap it was dads he got in the 60's i restored it in h.s. ( i got it out of my grandmothers barn along with a '68 s code mustang that wasn't worth much more than the vin plates would be and a '66 a code mustang thats it pretty good shape that is what i drive when i visit the fam.) but the resto was circa 14k.3. believe what you want i'm done fighting about it cept for 1 last retort... jetting carbs and building motors out of $ parts isn't hard it just takes patience, alot of time and experience.and yall should know that 1400 hp out of a 500cid motor isn't that difficult w/ a blower thats sorta the point you don't want something thats pushed to the edge when running an offshore race cause the props WILL come out of the water and the motors WILL over rev & hit limiters.

it wasn't given to me until i took the initiative to restore it on my own. my dads name was on the title the entire time and he handed it over entirely when they were about to get a divorce and even then it was sold to me for what he paid for it in the 60s ($1740 i still have the bill of sale)
8/9/2005 2:16:07 PM
ohh i'm not saying i've had it ruff but i pay for all of my hobbies... i'm paying my tutition but thats no biggie when they still pay for my apt. and insurance on my dd.you're missing my point and putting words in my mouth... i'm not a metrosexual dick that thought it would be cool to say i know how a motor works & i've worked on a race team. i'm just a young adult who has spent more time and money working on cars (some of the money has been possitive) then most in their 40s & 50s have
8/9/2005 2:20:14 PM
As of yet, you have refused to clearly define how someone with an exorbitant amount of money has come to trust you to "tune" their "investment". Or if by tune you mean, change some pulleys and jets and ignition timing to extra conservative values (so that your dumbass doesn't detonate the compressor into the bottom of the lake) only after consulting the ghost writer of this endeavor, Chris Cunningham.

hahaha its nothing like the funny cars... they're efi running nitro with completely diff fuel/air mixtures thats where i learned about building motors tuning fuel curves is a whole diff beast between the 2 i'm working on picking this shit up cause the optimal air fuel ratio is waaaaay diff between nitro and and petrol as is timing (which is done via magnitos on a funny car but done w/ a distributer on this boat) mainly what i was involved in is engine assembly, port matching, jetting the carbs (which yess are fairliy rich (11.7-12.3) syncing the throttles (so that when they're lined up the motors have the same power/rpm) and stupid stuff like getting the right temp plugs and gaping them right etc. but there were 4 of us doing it including mark (the owner)[Edited on August 9, 2005 at 4:20 PM. sumfoo1....dont argue with people, you dont have shit to prove, i give you some props and shit and you're more knowledgable than most the other cunts on here...just do the damn thing and blow people away with the shit you do fab and build and restore or whatever...i know how much you can learn from working at a world class shop for a few months and how you start out doing bitch work and can quickly learn how to do really hard shit...the people that don't believe this just don't know shit and are too fuckin set in their damn mindset of know it all knowledge that they can't learn anymore thus think that the rate at which you learned is impossible...just how i feel about all the shit talking in this thread
