The titanium has a USB port and I think it may have more memory and perhaps a slightly faster processor.I've had the original 89 since high school, and prefer it to the Titanium. The buttons on the Titanium aren't lined up perfectly straight, and for some reason that bothers me.

well i went to buy a ti-89 todayand went to 3 different placesand the cheapest one was at the ncsu bookstoreand i asked for a ti-89 and they gave me a titaniumi guess i just want to know if i should keep it or get a normal 89 or if theres no real difference (other than memory and the usb)

^are you really going to buy a tI-89 for the final on monday?! Daniel said you did great.... so you ought to be ~10 pts over the average score in the class including hws, so what are you worried about?[Edited on August 5, 2005 at 5:48 PM. Reason : .]

the titanium probably isn't any worse than the 89, I think it has straight up USB for the link or whatever doesn't it? I haven't been able to link mine in ages because the port broke or something

89-t has usb and the old ass slow 1/8 thing, with more mem and faster processor...which is vital if its going to be a tool used for both math and wasting time with crummy games

i'm not buying it for the finali'm buying it for next yearand then because i am a nerd and i want a cool calculator that does stuff.plus i thought it was tax free so i'd go ahead and get it but it wasn't tax free

When I was shopping around, I couldn't find a regular 89 for all that much cheaper than a titanium, so I just got a titanium.

ports on the 89's are notoriously bad, otherwise its a great piece of equipment

i never used my ti 89 once i got to college. you are probably better off if you don't, too

you were a csc major, though.

yea, its good to be able to do the math by hand, but once you do it enough, it helps to use a calc to make you more efficient and to help reduce errors

TI 89 is great in calculus class. I did most of the math by hand, but I used the TI 89 to double check myself.

89 rocks, but if you can figure out how to use an hp, the 49g will work out problems step by step for you..
