4 button
8/2/2005 11:36:19 AM
if you can argue that the scroll function is a "button" when you tap on it then ok - i'd say it's a 3 button mouse - definitely not a 2
8/2/2005 11:38:03 AM
Mostly the title had to do with the "one-button" stigma, and how hell has once again frozen over. (It's happening a lot these days.)
8/2/2005 1:28:43 PM
$50 ?thats fucking retarded.you'd have to pay me to use that piece of shit.
8/2/2005 1:34:18 PM
I hate sounds on my comptuer, I would not like the mouse making sounds at me!
8/2/2005 5:18:50 PM
My mouse makes sounds at me. Looks interesting, but expensive and not wireless. Not like I am gonna buy it, but it looks pretty cool.
8/2/2005 8:46:00 PM
am I the only one that thinks that nub looks highly suggestive?
8/2/2005 9:52:37 PM
On the IBM touch-mice with the blue tops I always called them fuzzy mouse condoms. They were replaceable and I used to work in a business that would order lots of these machines and they would come with little bags of the tips. From the angle in the photo it does kindof look like a nipple ...

I like the scroll ball. Not sure about the rest.

So if the sides are now buttons, how do you hold a click as you lift the mouse into the air?edit:full hardware review at Ars:http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/mightymouse.ars

probably the biggest reason i've always thought windows was better was cause more people used it and it had a 2 button mouse
8/3/2005 12:38:50 AM
^nice display of intellectual prowess

Given Apple's heavy use of bluetooth on is machines, I'm surprised no bluetooth version is available.

drunkenbatman, while not having used it yet, still has much to sayhttp://www.drunkenblog.com/drunkenblog-archives/000603.html

The quote from the Apple site in my first post has been officially replaced with

No, the sound isn't natural for the scroll, the ball doesn't click in any real tactile manner for it to be generated that way. It's definately being generated artificialy, but its probably not a tiny speaker so much as a simple clicker.
8/3/2005 7:31:12 AM
Only Apple would seriously market frivilous shit like clicking noises.
8/3/2005 9:03:01 AM
^ I agree, but to their credit, the small clicking sounds in the iPod makes a big difference, I think, in that it comes from the iPod itself, rather than through the headphones. It gives the touch-wheels a whole new feeling when you actually hear the clicking as you scroll. but for a mouse.....? i expect to hear and/or feel a click when i press the button - it shouln't be a marketing add-on

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826105123Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse 1.1a White Mouse - OEMA better mouse for $14.00
8/3/2005 9:31:41 AM
^What makes that mouse better? But I agree that $50 is way too much. This mouse should be $25, and the wireless version can be $45.But with a $50 wired version, is the wireless version gonna cost $70+. That's just insane....
8/3/2005 10:25:29 AM
its not a retarded design.alsohttp://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002UM0JW/ref%3Dnosim/slickdeals/102-5304523-8122524man. thats tempting. If i didn't have an mx700 already i'd jump on it.

OMG YOU'RE RIGHT I'M WRONG!!
8/3/2005 11:05:23 AM
Shaggy,Thanks for the heads up on the MX1000, I just ordered one.
8/3/2005 12:53:10 PM
if i hadn't bought a 1gb mini sd card just 5 minutes before i saw the mx1000, i would have bought it.
8/3/2005 12:53:51 PM
I think we can all agree that the value of the MX1000 far outweights that of the Apple Clicky-shit mouse
8/3/2005 1:11:48 PM
most definately
8/3/2005 1:13:07 PM
I turned the audible clicks off on my iPod too.
8/3/2005 7:56:30 PM
i can't believe it's optical and not laser, especially for $50
