Maybe watching the Lightning raise their banner on opening night will give them a little extra motivation.

Sidney Crosby will be in town for the home opener.

Another Trade for D:
Canes Get Andrew Hutchinson from Nashville
Quote :
"The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired defenceman Andrew Hutchinson from the Nashville Predators in exchange for Phoenix's third-round pick, 78th overall, in Saturday's NHL Entry Draft.

"Andrew adds depth to our team's defense," said Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford. "He's a skilled and mobile defeneman whose production has increased steadily since turning pro."

Cory Stillman added.

I personally would love to see Miroslav Satan in a Canes uniform, but I doubt it's going to happen. Would not mind them giving Bryan Berard a try, either.

So who are the forwards at this point?

Eric Staal
Cory Stillman
Erik Cole
Justin Williams
Josef Vasicek
Rod Brinda'Mour
Radim Vrbata
Kevyn Adams
Matt Cullen
Mike Zigomanis
Jesse Boulerice
Andrew Ladd?

I'm pretty excited about the Tverdovsky acquisition. I'm not sure if he is what he used to be, but in the past he has always been one of my favorite defensemen in the league. He's good on the powerplay, which is something we really need help on.

Ray Whitney signed; 2 years, $1.5 million per season. He's a good leader, and a reliable scorer, which is definitely something they needed. I'm assuming that will be it for free agent signings. If some of the younger guys come around, I think they could have a shot at sneaking into the playoffs this year.

I'm posting this in both threads because you did:

Salary has no connection to revenue sharing. The clubs that are eligible for revenue sharing must be both in the bottom half of the league in revenue and be in markets of fewer than 2.5 million TV households.
