^ The sign of a good horror movie
7/19/2005 9:46:53 AM
I saw the first one on DVD, and I was pleasantly surprised. I figured it would blow like every other horror/slasher flick as of late, but it was actually pretty good. I feel sorry for the camera dude at the end, though. And I don't blame the doctor for having an affair with that asian chick. She was hot as fuck.[Edited on July 19, 2005 at 9:47 AM. Reason : blah]
7/19/2005 9:47:16 AM
i still havent seen the first one
7/19/2005 9:52:29 AM

7/19/2005 10:02:11 AM
Oh man I forgot about that asian chick
7/19/2005 10:03:21 AM
^^^ don't bother.. its awful
7/19/2005 2:18:51 PM
Most of the reviews on TWW have been positive. It even got a 7.5 on IMDB which isn't bad for a horror movie.

7/19/2005 2:25:23 PM
I never fucking saw the first one Goddamnit, i want to!!!
7/19/2005 2:28:11 PM
The jawtrap didn't bug me that much. I thought the razor blade maze thing was worse than that. The very last scene really stuck w/ me though. ...just didn't see that coming at all.

Saw was the first movie in a while that had me crouched low in the seats hands over my mouth. My skin was crawling during the reverse bear trap scene. My mind kept going, "What if I was in a situation like this...what the hell would I do?"
7/19/2005 3:00:02 PM
Yep, this movie haunted me. That last scene my mouth was as wide open as it could get.The part that freaked me out a lot was when the chinese dude was running down the hall to catch the killer......dag.[Edited on July 19, 2005 at 3:19 PM. Reason : ,]

My roommate and I were trying to come up with traps like the sort in the movie where you inflict the pain on yourself or are the ultimate cause of your own death. When I worry about fear or maiming it's always stuff dealing with my hands, eyes, and face that make me the most nervous. What about a room where your only escape is crawling commando-style on your belly across red hot embers under a wall to the exit...
7/19/2005 3:24:35 PM
^ SOB that's a good one!
7/19/2005 3:29:57 PM
I can't wait to see what they've thought up for the second one. Damn the plot. The concepts were what was so fucked up about it.
7/19/2005 3:34:49 PM
7/19/2005 3:35:25 PM
Too easy.
7/19/2005 3:38:26 PM
I'd pee on the embers and then crawl out.

SAW ruled kick ass movie - best suprise ending since 6th sense the sequel better rule
7/19/2005 7:13:08 PM
7/19/2005 7:29:56 PM
^^ if by suprise you mean suprisingly retarded, then yeah, you're 100% right

its not my fault they filmed it that quicki'd rather them take time and come out with a good movie
7/19/2005 7:50:14 PM
^^and that is exactly what is wrong with the entertainment industry/society today. people dont want to think about things and ask questions, they just want to be entertained and see buildings blow up and limbs get sawed off[Edited on July 19, 2005 at 7:51 PM. Reason : thats better]
7/19/2005 7:50:22 PM
yeah it's not one of those movies you go to and scrutinize every detail...the acting sucked, and the plot wasn't the most throrough or smooth, but as ^^^ said, it's entertainment and if you go expecting that, you'll get it. i liked the movie and i'll definitely go see the second one^ no, sometimes people DO want to think things through and watch a detailed movie...sometimes you just want a thriller. anyone who only watches one kind of movie (or listens to one kind of music, etc) has some issues. enjoy the movie for what it is and stop trying to compare it to what it isn't.[Edited on July 19, 2005 at 7:53 PM. 7/19/2005 7:51:18 PM
^^ Cause going to the movies isn't a fvcking TEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7/19/2005 8:12:06 PM
i think it'll be good. When i walked out of the theater after seeing the first one all i could think was "who the fuck things up a movie like that!?" And all i could think the whole day was "what the fuck!?"
7/19/2005 8:51:52 PM
Real life is much scarrier than this film will ever be.The web of razor wire was a good idea though. I'll have to remember that one.[Edited on July 19, 2005 at 10:03 PM. Reason : aron ralston had a video camera and lots of time to kill while he watched his arm rot off.]
7/19/2005 10:02:17 PM
^ wow that is beyond hardcore
7/19/2005 10:07:09 PM
See those cuts on his arm? He tried cutting through his arm with a pocket knife but it wasn't sharp enough.(he'd already ruined the blade chipping at the rock) After about a week, he got the idea to slam his body against the wall to break his arm(took a few tries), and then he was able hack through the muscle/cartilidge/nerves. He said in an interview that cutting the main nerve was the worst part. After he finished all that he still had to crawl to the end of that cavern, rappel down a 100ft cliff, and walk ~10miles back to his truck in the heat of the desert.Hardcore indeed. He's still a dumbass for not telling anyone where he was going in the first place.
7/19/2005 10:16:59 PM
luckily, the same director / writer are doing the sequel ( unlike blair witch ) so i think it will be an enjoyable follow-up ( i actually liked blair witch 2, even though it was a completely different style than the original ). there are enough interesting possibilities for them to explore from the original movie, to make it nearly as creative. the girl that passed her "test" was noticeably left as an unresolved & seemingly important character for them to bring back in the sequel.....i enjoyed saw enough that i'm not going to be too demanding of its sequel. i just can't wait to see it, regardless.
