Any possible dates for this yet? I searched alltelpavilion.com and couldn't find anything about it, last year's show was awesome

Wish the Allmans came by themselves like they have in the past. Skynard is not even close to as good of a show and takes time away.

^ were you at the concert last year? skynyrd blew allman brothers out of the water, i love the allmans, but they don't put on much of a "show" at all, which is why over half the audience left after they played a few songs

^the same would have happened if ABB opened. All the ABB fans (approx 1/2) would have left after a few songs. anyways, moe. has 90 minute set before the allmans at jones beach and that's where i'll be seeing them.

I think its two different breeds of music listeners. The Allmans love the traditional, blues-like sound and w/t trucks they have found a way to keep people coming back. Skynard on the other hand has sounded flat, careless, and very mainstream the 2 times I have seen them. Allmans have been coming to raleigh for something like 18 straight years, they like it here and always play a good show.

between the two bands they have like -4 original members
7/18/2005 5:20:39 PM
i love both bands, but to me skynyrd was a better "show" even though abb plays better music, maybe it'll be different the second time around^skynyrd has 2 original members i think, abb has all but one or two

I don't care about seeing some guy dance around in a circle when he plays guitar.

I went to last year's concert in Raleigh and Charlotte. Skynyrd played the EXACT same set, I mean the only thing that was different was "Charlotte" instead of "Raleigh-Durham". And the security in Raleigh sucked majorly, we had drunk South Carolina confederate boys all over the place and security kept having to come and get people outta there it was very distracting. I prefer ABB but that may be because I love Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes (Gov't Mule). I think they really bring justice to the band even if some of the original members are no longer together. ABB outplayed Skynyrd hands down in my opinion, but like I said, I'm biased.

Trucks is awesome. You're right about the Gov't Mule addition. It seems they have new life. I may stay out in the parking lot and drink more to avoid the Skynard crowd.

Buy "Under the Influence" a Jam Band Tribute to Skynyrd.Drive By Truckers playing "Every Mother's Son" is completely bad-ass.

You're right about Haynes, but I am refering to him and Trucks. Guess I should have made it clear. Whatever, I'm ready for a good show.

Law seats were either 20 or 25 last year (can't remember exactly).

Lawn seats were, as well

From the looks of the ABB site, it appears the Raleigh show is the only show around that time with Skynyrd. If that's really the case, I may try and make the Charlotte show.... or both

yeah I thought ABB was better than Skynyrd last year... the rain kinda sucked, but it was a good time
8/9/2005 11:30:12 PM
ABB is so much better then anything and I do mean anything happening in music today. While I love Skynyrd to death, they only play their popular stuff which is nothing other than I, IV, V power cords usually. When you go to the Skynyrd show, you dont hear the hard blues that they came out with that can be really technical (maybe because Collins and Gains are gone), because the crowd dosent want to hear it. The bottom line is that ABB is about brilliant playing, and Skynyrd is about having fun. But the bands are linked together and were friends back in the day. Skynyrd dedicated Free Bird to Duane Allman when he died.
