yes, the car is in Raleigh
yes, it makes a shitload of power
yes, it looks sick as shit

yes, it is still a neon
yes, it does look like a skittle

But, the owner's a cool guy, the car's plain nasty, and I'd be happy as hell to own it.

It is kinda cool and all to be a big dog on the street I guess if that is what floats your boat. But to me it seems pretty pointless to dump all that money in a neon when you can get a beater body, strip it and make it light, spend a nice sum of money on classic v8 (add nitrous if you want), put some big slicks on it, and go out and run 8s. Sure you don't get that little ego boost from beating some guy on the street, but I would rather run 8s than 11s. About the only thing that the street car wins over the non street legal drag car (in regards to speed) is you are stuck doing 1/4s in the drag car.

that car is sitting in 6th place on the fastest times list on the forums, the 2nd fastest (and fastest, non nitrous) car is just up in madison. DCR did some work for both of them and it shows in the numbers they are getting on the track.

I am not sure where I said "couple of grand" anywhere in my statement. It was neither stated nor implied really. For probably half as much money as your friend has in that Neon, my uncle has in his drag car, running in the 9.90 class all motor (a big mouse) and turns the juice on to run the 8.90 class. Of course he did just about everything possible to it himself so if you want to consider his time in the financial cost then the two become closer to equal. Still, he runs in the mid 8s if he wants and has a car that sounds like it could eat your buddies Neon. It probably wouldn't take that much to make it street legal, but it would be relatively dumb to do anything more than cruise with 5.38 gears and a powerglide.

it really doesn't take all that much money to make those power numbers, you don't have to open up the engine at all for anything under 500hp, more than DOUBLE what it comes with stock. takes some good driving and traction to get those times though.

Diggler, do you drive home in rush hour traffic from RTP every now and then? I've seen a SRT-4 that sounded pretty scary. I thought there was a lion out on the highway. I drove by a black SRT-4 and heard it go "Groooooowwwwwwwl". It had the most unique sound I've ever heard. It sounds VERY quite at idle, but when he got on the gas it made me want to pee pee in my pants.

(Though of course, to join in on the cliche', It's still a Neon )

^that wing is stock. and, i usually hate spoilers, but it always looks hot on the srt. i don't think it's possible to find a srt without one. plus, it actually works with the down force shit.

The only thing that stands out as wrong to me is the extreme rake that is has. The rear end needs to be dropped a ton, and the front could use a mild drop.
I guess the rake may level out under acceleration though.
