Just curious if anyone has one or is going to get one, their opinion of it, and what games they have (although it's probably more interesting to talk about what games you will have when the good games start rolling in...)

bah those are all old i was just wondering if alotta ppl had one but apparently not...

I have one. I never play it. The only reason I haven't sold it yet is because I will want to play mario kart and advance wars. For the time being if you're thinking about getting one, save up for a psp. I play that 1000x more than my ds.

that last one was updated yesterday

I've been borrowing one for a while.I loved Mario 64-DS. The only other games I've had access to are golf and racing, and I wasn't blown away by those. I can certainly see possibiblities for some good games, but they will probably almost all come from Nintendo. I don't really see using that touch screen for FPSs.

By all accounts, the Nintendo DS had a good showing at E3. Mario Kart DS, Animal Crossing, Castlevania DS, and the new Super Mario Bros. look like they will be a lot of fun. In fact, while I believe the PSP has a stronger lineup at the moment, the DS is primed to bounce back from its dry spell big time. The PSP games at E3 were pretty underwhelming. And don't forget about GBA support as well, so you can pick up that sweet Gunstar Super Heroes game.
5/31/2005 8:53:54 AM
^^Yeah, I played the Metroid demo, but I just wasn't feeling it. The screens are too small for an FPS.

Yeah, I wish someone would do a high-res, intense 2-D action game with handrawn graphics on one of the main consoles.
5/31/2005 1:50:31 PM
I just got mine yesterday. It's alotta fun actually. Even those games like warioware and pac pix...even though I'd never buy them and only rent them from gamefly since they'd probably get old.
6/1/2005 11:40:50 PM
yeah i just picked one up used the other day. I think it's great. I know it sounds crazy, but zoo keeper is addictive as shit. And its only 20 bucks.I think the games on the horizon, battery life, price tag, and awesome GBA library compatibility give this system the handheld king (IMO).People that are all about the PSP I can't relate to -- I mean, isnt the whole point of a handheld to get pure gameplay in mostly 2d areas. Maybe slight iso and 3d. But the PSP library sans lumines just just look like ps2 games weve seen a million times, with polygons being the only thing on their side. Why not just play the real system.
6/2/2005 3:54:01 AM
^Well the reason you play the PSP and not the real system, is because you play the PSP when the real system isnt available. Portables are for exactly what their name says. Take it with you on the go. Thats why I don't have a portable, because I rarely have a time when I'm away from a comp or tv but could be playing video games.
6/2/2005 4:00:13 AM
yeah, for me it is the fact that I can play the same games that I play on PS2 and xbox wherever I go without having to lug around a console and a tv. I like taking my psp to work and playing Tony Hawk, or Tiger Woods and have it be the exact same experience as if I were playing at home. Plus the psp wins in my book for no other reason than the following 6 words: Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.
6/2/2005 7:21:24 AM
I've had a DS since a week after its launch. I love it. I immediately bought the Mario game -- which consumed me for several days -- and picked up Tiger Woods in December -- which then consumed me. My next was WarioWare ... don't waste your money on Sprung! I didn't, but I've got to play everything Nintendo sends me.[Edited on June 2, 2005 at 9:53 AM. Reason : ]

i think once animal crossing and castlevania come out i will be forced to get a DSanimal crossing looks to have a lot more features(and i think multiplayer) than the gc one, and that one would keep me occupied forever

I saw the preview of Nintendogs and I thought that was innovative. However, I would get a PSP first.

yeah Hominid is fun and original -- however it is hard as hell. Don't forgett viewtiful joe for that 2d + parallax background type of game. I love that genre too. In fact the upcoming Super Mario is like that.I love my DS -- especially consider by the end of this summer into this fall, games are going to be busting out in droves. The last time I checked, dickweed, This thread was about the DS. Meaning that we were talking about the DS Version of Metroid. So telling me how a gamecube game isn't a first person shooter really has no relevance to the situation. But thanks for trying. You might as well go ahead and try and "pwn" me again by pointing out that the original Metroid for NES wasn't a FPS either. OMG I'm so retarded lolololol!!!!1The point I was making was that the demo of Metroid Prime Hunters for the DS plays very much like a standard FPS. With the stylus acting very simular to a mouse on a PC. It's in the First Person view, And you go around Shooting things. At the very least it has aspects of a FPS, even though that may not be what makes up 100% of the game. But hey, if calling me a stupid fuck makes you feel like a big man, by all means, have at it cowboy.

I just picked up Goldeneye: Rogue Agent for the DS and it is excellent. The amount of control and accuracy you have with the touch screen is incredible.

This is the same guy talking about how Land of the Dead doesn't sound like a good zombie movie, after having never seen any of the Dead movies.
