Wait for Dell to run a special on the 19", they've dropped as far as 260 I think in the past month or so...I have one, it's super great.
5/30/2005 10:00:15 PM
^seconded. got mine a week ago for $273 or something
5/30/2005 10:02:55 PM
ok i'll try to hold out until they run another specialis 0.294 dot pitch on the 19" all right?i've always heard to aim for <0.28 pitch
5/30/2005 10:03:43 PM
any idea how soon they'll run another one of those specials? i'm not sure how much longer i can wait
5/30/2005 10:04:42 PM
I don't care about dot pitch or anything, all I know is that my 1905fp is a great fuckin LCD monitor and it was highly rated in all the reviews. I add my voice as a 3rd to watch slickdeals.net for another deal on the Dell 1905fp.
5/30/2005 11:52:16 PM
you won't find a dot pitch that low on an LCD without paying out the ass for itit's a fact that CRTs are sharper than most LCDs, it's a sacrifice you make - at least that's my understanding of it. the ultrasharps still look great though, and if you're like me and use a laptop most of the time anyway, it's easy to adjust. just make sure you run it at the intended resolution/frequency - 1280x1024@60hzand lately dell seems to run specials on these things every couple weeks or so[Edited on May 30, 2005 at 11:54 PM. this monitor will be replacing a Viewsonic 17" CRTi have the Dell Ultra Sharp 17" at work and i really like iti just think i'll be happier with the 19" the 19" has the 4 usb 2.0 ports on the front and i definitely could use that since the only usb ports on my computer are in the back and i have to move my desk and practically stand on my head whenever i need to access them
5/31/2005 12:18:25 AM
i need a DVI-D input on my next monitorand i need it soon!
5/31/2005 3:01:23 AM
the dot pitch on my 1920x1200 panel is like .18FEAR
5/31/2005 7:34:37 AM
^That is one hell of a laptop screen, i want to make a tv out of it but something about 715$ and a particle board box painted with a brush doesnt mix well in my mind.
5/31/2005 8:44:53 AM
now i'm considering buying a 4-month-old 17" Dell ultrasharp FPV from someoneit has an image contrast ratio of 1000:1but i need to know some more about it before i can make up my mind[Edited on May 31, 2005 at 8:59 AM. Reason : ]
5/31/2005 8:57:41 AM
higher contrast ratio doesn't always = greater picture, if you didn't already know that. i'd be scared to buy something cheap that had a 1000:1, unless it has consistent positive reviews.
5/31/2005 9:19:14 AM
anybody seen any good deals lately?
6/2/2005 11:35:25 PM
the back of my docking station has 2 video outputs. One Stadard VGA and on DVI. I can't plug a DVI-VGA converter in the DVI because the larger flat connector in the converter is bigger than the back of the docking station. Why is that? Someone told me it's because it's setup for a true digital monitor. How can you tell the difference b/n true digital and "fake" digital? Can you find a true digital CRT? I have PLENTY of space on my desk for 2 21" monitors.
6/3/2005 6:37:36 AM
it should look like thati don't think there is more than one type of DVI connectorwhat does yours look like?
6/3/2005 10:06:41 AM
There are three types of DVI connectorsDVI-A (analog only) there is the large field of holes and then to the right is just 4 holesDVI-D (digital only) there is the large field of holes and then to the right is one horizontal barDVI-I (both) there is the large field of holes and then to the right is four pins with a cross in the middle (like the picture above)If you only have DVI-D, then the adapter would be useless since you can't get an analog signal from a digital output. (I learned the hard way since Sony only puts DVI-D connectors on their cards so they you have to buy one of their digital monitors)

my angelina jolie wallpapers look awesome on the new monitor
6/30/2005 7:25:59 PM
Noen and I talked about this extensively last night. I decided that I'm going to go with the Samsung 915N. It was on sale yesterday for $314 at newegg. I still have to decide whether I want to sink money into a flat panel, a carputer, or a supercharger for said car.

THIS IS THE DEAL TO JUMP ON --- http://www.techbargains.com/news_displayItem.cfm/47599Dell 19" Digital 1905FP 1280x1024, 800:1 contrast ratio , 20ms response$213 shippedi bought a Dell 17" for almost the exact same price just last month
7/26/2005 6:38:03 PM
^ I jumped. Its somewhat misleading as you have to add on $21 worth of crap (in my case a camera bag), but $250 w/ next day shipping for the monitor (and camera bag) isn't bad.
7/26/2005 7:06:01 PM
^ I'm thinking about jumping. What was your total cost, after everything?
7/26/2005 7:49:20 PM
7/26/2005 7:54:20 PM
what about a 17 analog?[Edited on July 26, 2005 at 7:59 PM. Reason : -]
7/26/2005 7:58:26 PM
It's not what I'm getting. After the 19" monitor and a $22 USB Hub, it's coming out to be $280 + tax =~ $300. And that's with the free 3-5 day shipping. Next day shipping was an additional $30. Was the deal supposed to be before 8:00 or something?

7/27/2005 6:33:38 PM
I've only seen one 25ms response time flat panel being used, but it was enough to inspire me to pay a little more for the 12ms.
7/28/2005 8:10:51 AM
