then why do they let us hotlink other sites' pics?

from http://www.thewolfweb.com/site_faq.aspx :
Quote :
"This is called Hotlinking, and we don't allow it. When an image is hotlinked, it is embedded on another page on another site and appears to be also on that site. However, the image remains on our site leaving our server to do all of the work needed to show it to EVERY person that visits the other site."

But they have no problem with straining other people's servers. Seems pretty hypocritical to me.

ethics? who said anything about ethics?

It's up to each individual site administrator to dictate whether Hotlinking is allowed. CrazyJ, this site's administrator, does not want to pay for the bandwidth associatted with hotlinking images on other sites that are hosted on this server. That's his prerogative.

There's nothing goddamn hypocritical about that. If he blocked hotlinking from other sites, that would mean that you couldn't post pictures from YOUR OWN site. There are multiple sites out there that exist to host files and images that can be hotlinked. You either block all or nothing.

Where's the logic? Or do you just have no idea what you're talking about?
