where's all the Les Pauls at.....................
12/17/2004 10:00:23 AM
I've got a DeArmond M77--it's Les Paul style, but the body's chambered. Right now I'm just playing through a Pod into a shitty practice amp; I need to pick up a new amp sometime soon.
12/17/2004 10:06:02 AM
how's that POD....compared to a Vamp2?
12/17/2004 10:07:37 AM
Haven't tried the Vamp. I played through a Johnson amp modeller once that I liked, but the Pod had more models at the time (don't know if that's changed with newer versions).Overall, it does what I want. I would really like to have a footswitch, but the Line 6 floorboard is more than I've wanted to spend.
12/17/2004 10:10:22 AM
epiphone les paul custom, digitech rp100 pedals, peavey envoy 110my pedals suck. they short out all the time and now certain channels blast this terrible roaring noise. and i need a new amp. the amp will have to wait but i'm thinking about getting a line 6 pod. ^do you have the pod 2 or the xt? cant you get a footswitch for those?[Edited on December 17, 2004 at 10:28 AM. 12/17/2004 11:00:56 AM
Gibson "The Paul" (cheap LP made in TN in the '90s w/ thinner carved top body, 490R/498T, solid mahagony, '59 neck, i love it), through a Durusky modded tubescreamer, into a Durusky 18watter, into an Avatar 4x12 cab w/ 2 Vintage30s and 2 G12Hs. it rocks http://www.duruskyamplifiers.com

^ Not a good amp for Jon's sound. Fender silverface combos for him...especially the Super Six Reverb .^^ You need some real strings, at least 10s.
12/17/2004 12:55:31 PM
Yeah, I've been eyeing me some Fenders.....TOO MUCH TO CHOOOOOOOSE.
12/17/2004 1:35:56 PM
hey, dannydigtl, im getting an avatar cab in the near future also.....would you reccomend them?
12/17/2004 3:24:06 PM
^definately! Dave is a good guy and you wont find a better deal anywhere. What speakers are you looking at and for what amp?
12/17/2004 3:30:22 PM
the Eminence Delta 10's for bass, in the 2x10 cabits seems like every review i've read just sings Dave's praises, so i feel really good about this
12/17/2004 3:43:26 PM
yep. ive never played any of his bass cabs but i did look into them pretty heavily for a friend at one time and it seems like the components are good.dont expect dovetailed joints and 11ply void free plywood (altho i did hear hes using good wood in them now, but im not sure), but theyre solidly build and work jsut fine. Hell the price of the cabs are often what you would pay for the speakers alone. i've been gigging and beating up my 4x12 for over 3yrs now i havent had a single problem or complaint with it. You can pay a lot for a big name, or a little for an Avatar, but youre getting essentially the same thing
12/17/2004 3:54:29 PM
sweetright now, im just waiting for them to pop back up on ebay..the last time they were on there, nobody bidded on 'em, even though they were less than $200...I have to sell my amp first so i can get the dough to get one

yea the ppl talkin about the peavey5150s...if you are playing lots of songs with lots of clean parts AND lots of gain parts i dont recommend it. dont get me wrong i love this amp..its my show amp. but my band doesnt have too many clean parts AND when we do i use delay so it doesnt make a difference, the delay cleans it all up. but the evh5150 has only one eq so either your gain OR clean channel sound great. but not both at the same time. but if youre looking to play mainly gain..its a great amp. one of the best running through a boss NS-2 suppressor
12/18/2004 12:15:51 AM
hmm...how much luck do u think i'll have sellin my current bass amp here? i just bought it new this summer, its still in excellent condition, but i know i'll get lowballed in classifieds...[Edited on December 18, 2004 at 12:32 AM.
