How about, when a user goes to click "Post Topic!" to post the new topic they typed up in Tech Talk, an intermediate page is displayed with the submitted subject line inside a Google search box, with some text asking whether the user would like to try the bloody obvious thing first?I know my Tech Talk heads are feelin' me on this.

lame.

excuse me but i'm pretty sure that, having been posted in feedback, the only opinion on the subject that is important is the opinion of Joe and CrazyJhaving typed all that, in retrospect i could have summarized my point more effectively with a simple "stfu"

well thank god I don't care what you want to hear or who you want to hear it from.
7/7/2003 8:03:47 PM
You apparently care a great deal, given the way you follow me around the boards trying to hump my leg (metaphorically speaking).

What an ego. I burst your bubble in two threads and now all of the sudden I'm in love with you. In truth you are kinda sexy with that chick haircut. What else can I do but want you?
7/7/2003 8:09:19 PM
There have been many before you, and there will be many long after you. You are not exceptional. I have weathered your kind with nary a bubble burst; the only mark you will leave will be like unto the mark a gnat leaves on a windshield.
7/7/2003 8:11:45 PM
I'm not exceptional? But, my mom tells me I'm unique in every way. Oh well, live and learn I guess. I'll just have to live with the knowledge that your bubble was burst or else you wouldn't be spending so much time telling me how unimportant my opinion is or trying to get the last word.Well, you can have it I guess. Good luck with your idea. I expect to see the admins put it into action real soon. Peace bro.

etc.etc.etc.when angels piss you call it rain
7/7/2003 8:18:48 PM
that wouldn't work if somebody was doing some sort of survey. Example "What kind of computer do you have" etc etcyour idea is almost as gay as you
7/7/2003 8:53:33 PM
duh moron that's why it would be presented as an optioni mean it's like you didn't even read the post
7/7/2003 8:54:49 PM
i didnt read any of them.

is having questions asked in tech talk that have been asked somewhere else out on the web troublesome to you?its not to me, because i sometimes want to hear what tww community has to say about it rather than the annonymous google community

^ I agree on opinionated questions, but obvious technical questions that are asked every day can get annoying. I think, however, we have weeded out some of the larger "OMFG SEARCH GOOGLE SAMPS" that seem to use that to answer every tech talk question (i.e. zerodegreez), so i think its gotten better for the noobs. I do think we need to crack down on more frequent questions, stuff like "what case/powersupply/fan/mobo/video card/etc... should i get?" Its a good question, but it doens;t need a new thread every day.

worst idea evar

I've noticed Frosh's technique when he has been called out on something is to ignore it and play like someone isn't worth his time. I mean dude has a point about you having girly hair.
7/21/2003 11:10:44 AM
I think a better idea would be to take the text submitted in the "Post New Topic" window and run in through the TWW search engine. That way they could just refer to previous threads.
7/21/2003 11:16:46 AM
except that the search sucks
7/21/2003 11:21:46 PM
I think they should just make Noen's thread sticky. Maybe post the links for some of the most asked/best answered questions as a sort of FAQ.
7/22/2003 12:01:53 AM
i hate forums with 8 bajillion sticky threads at the top & i dont want to see tdub like that
7/22/2003 12:12:13 AM
Hence the emphasis on that one.
