Hahahahahahahaha, you can't make this stuff up right here. This is classic.
10/13/2017 11:41:19 AM
I mean you wonder why people think we're a bunch of crazy paranoid lunatics when this sort of shit happens to us all the time. It's completely rational behavior when this is what you have to deal with.
10/13/2017 11:43:49 AM
http://www.sacscoc.org/FAQsanswers.asp#q12Time to start spreading this around I guess
10/13/2017 11:45:39 AM
That's Braxton's fault. Should have transferred to a school with a law school.
10/13/2017 11:49:49 AM
Hell this is a rebuilding year, I'd start Beverly every game, take the "forfeits" and get a ton of press coverage for it.
10/13/2017 11:50:37 AM
10/13/2017 11:54:56 AM
from the report:
10/13/2017 11:55:18 AM
Yeah its really SACS that should have done something. But since they didn't I assumed the ncaa would at least try
10/13/2017 12:00:57 PM
Time to flood SACS with neverending complaints and put some public pressure on them now I guess
10/13/2017 12:01:51 PM
Fuck it. They can have basketball. We are a football school now anyway.
10/13/2017 12:14:41 PM
This has been a fun ride but if you are going to throw out a twist ending like that at least go big. Like Mark Emmert has been Roy Williams all along. Or Nike just outright buying the NCAA.
10/13/2017 12:27:01 PM
^^^ I'm writing the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, & Transportation. That's who had the hearing on the NCAA with Emmert 3 years ago. That's going to be NCAA-focused and also bring in the Louisville et al scandal.Current committee head is John Thune, and reading his opening testimony now all concerns he had have just gotten worse over the past 3 years. Lotta UNC admins getting big bonuses this Christmas. Fukcing NCSTATE Bullshits!20 Years and $18mills in defense fees. Thats a hell of ROI. We need to jump on this shit. [Edited on October 13, 2017 at 12:39 PM. Reason : asa]
10/13/2017 12:30:20 PM
I'm still gobsmacked they didn't at least give the program probation. That would have at least covered the NCAA's ass. Now they are getting rightfully dragged for doing nothing.
10/13/2017 12:56:52 PM
I honestly don't understand this. How can the NCAA say they have no grounds for punishment? Not to make light of the victims and horrible abuse that took place at Penn State, but the NCAA had no grounds for punishment there either! And yet, umm, they sure as fuck laid down the hammer in State College .
10/13/2017 1:03:23 PM
^Unfortunately they also got sued and had to deal with a lot of headaches for that. The big problem is the bylaws are apparently toothless and written around self reporting and evaluation. Basically if there isn't a payout involved, if you say you didn't do something they can't really hold you accountable for it (at least that's how this case is being portrayed)Keep em broke is the only real prerogative.
10/13/2017 1:08:20 PM
^^ because they don't give a shit about academics iirc
10/13/2017 1:22:05 PM
10/13/2017 1:26:02 PM
^ok thats pretty amazing
10/13/2017 1:33:31 PM
So, when can we expect the lawsuits from all the schools in the past 20 years who have been hit with an academic charge by the NCAA?Also, when the hell do we start our fake classes?
10/13/2017 1:37:50 PM
10/13/2017 2:08:10 PM
SMU should be pissed about their online class thing
10/13/2017 2:16:27 PM
Well, at least it's not just us melting down. From the Kentucky messageboards:
10/13/2017 2:19:37 PM
Wasn't there a group of professors at UNC that kept releasing statements basically expressing how upset they were that academic reputation had taken a backseat to athletics. Seems like it was around the time people were getting fired?Where are they now?
10/13/2017 2:26:57 PM
10/13/2017 2:38:42 PM
all these UNC fucks in my newsfeed celebrating like they did something amazing
10/13/2017 2:45:46 PM
I gotta stop this it's driving me crazy.UNC to NCAA - Hey this report that we made to SACS is wrong and bad and there are typos so you can't use it to punish us because we say it's not good.
10/13/2017 2:55:19 PM
y'all finally out of popcornLOCK IT UP
10/13/2017 3:00:52 PM
I quit working and looking up articles bashing the NCAA. Gives me a small win inside my lonely-empty existence.

^^ yup

10/13/2017 7:10:47 PM
nothing is going to happenLOCK IT UP
10/13/2017 7:17:03 PM
Yea I don't think they will either, but it seems like they got played pretty badly. I get the feeling SACs thought it was an athletics issue and that if UNC admitted to what they had already admitted to SACs, the NCAA would be able to come down pretty hard on UNC. That theoretical punishment from the NCAA would hurt far more than what an accreditation agency issues. But nah, UNC just denied what they previously admitted to SACs (or half denied).Unless SACs wants to see every other university emulating UNC, they better sack up!
10/13/2017 7:22:31 PM
This is possibly the death-knell of the NCAA's relevance. Every school just saw that the NCAA will back down if you fight back. We'll begin to see conferences completely breaking away, and they'll just form into minor league type organizations, eventually removing all connections to the universities.
10/13/2017 8:03:01 PM
BOYCOTT DA SCHOOO NCAA.
10/13/2017 9:38:19 PM
State fans sucking UNCAA SACS
10/13/2017 10:05:06 PM
I don't know why anyone is surprised by this. It's not the NCAA's job to make sure that a University is, in fact, a University.
10/14/2017 1:55:39 AM
Also, don't worry guys. The NCAA is going to put Condoleezza Rice in charge of the Commission of College Basketball to implement serious reform. And as we all know, she's never one to make horrible decisions when under pressure from powerful interests. I'm sure she'll gather all the evidence, carefully examine all the details, and then decide to reform college athletics invade Iraq.
10/14/2017 2:10:34 AM
^^ I agree. Fuck college sports. I just cancelled my TV sports package and won't be watching or attending any more NCAA events. Their mission is supposedly to provide educational opportunities to athletes, and they don't care about the biggest case of institutionally-sponsored academic fraud in history. Fuck em.[Edited on October 14, 2017 at 10:18 AM. Reason : ]
