Ronny your pics are beautiful!

Has anyone put together a list of tww wedding vendors? I know there are quite a few. Perhaps it would help others if there was a list of tww vendors & then a list of other twwers that have used them & could give recommendations.

Keep it local!

Most of my vendors are in the Winston Salem area:
Venue: On my friend's farm by the Yadkin River (outdoors)
Tent: Hauser Rentals
Caterer: Bibs BBQ with a pig, brisket, turkey breast and the fixin's
Flowers: Advance Florist
Cake: Cakes by Manfred
Ceremony Musician: David Cray
Reception Band: we're still lookin

If any one has suggestions for a country music/southern rock bank, let me know. I'd be happy to hear their music.

[Repost for new page. Sorry, I need gigs.]

Anyone need a wedding/engagement/portrait/anything photographer?

I normally wouldn't whore myself out like this, but it's relevant to this thread so I hope it'll fly.

I decided to not go with suits or tuxes because we're getting married on a farm and so I was thinking of something more casual to go with the venue. I decided to go with dark khaki dress pants, ivory shirts, claret ties with a different design for each person and suspenders. We are hoping to go with the "lawless" look. My fiance' will wear the same pants and shirt and tie thing except with a vest. It'll look nice with my dress. Got my corset yesterday.

Finally found a band!! Chris Marks band. It'll be great! I am officially excited. We also got out invitations yesterday from Desktop Diva :-) She was great to work with. I didn't like her website. It was hard to save the wording and if I didn't submit it right away, I would lose the words. :-/ Worked out great though.

^Doing something similar--groomsmen are wearing khaki slacks with white dress shirts and yellow ties (yellow and aqua are the "official" colors). I'm wearing a khaki-colored suit. Since we're on the beach there will be no shoes for the wedding itself. For the reception I'm getting leather rainbows for the groomsmen and myself.

my fiance is trying to get the groomsmen and I to do vest only. like this:

I kind of am down with it, but I want a jacket and no vest. I hate vests but dont care if the groomsmen are stuck with them. maybe like this:

except I don't want to look douchey.

I kind of like this:

I like the last one. Briefly entertained doing vests for the groomsmen, but the fiancee actually talked me out of it. She was against making them buy something they'd likely never wear again and against me having to spend money on their attire (beyond the ties and the sandals which I'm already buying.)

The Men's Warehouse in Cary will rent just vests if you don't wanna buy anything. That's where we found my fiance's vest. Sadly enough, that's also were we bought his pants when I could have gotten them half price at Macy's. I guess if I was going to spend a lot of money on my dress, he wanted to spend a lot of money on his attire too

But I feel better about not going with jackets now. I didn't know exactly what guys wear to weddings. I just saw pictures with guys in suspenders and thought it was classy and fitting for our wedding.

74 days to the wedding but I am excited.

I originally wanted vests only, but his mom wanted more and the fiance didnt care so much. We ended up with him wearing full suit inc. vest, groomsmen in suits with no vest, my best guy friend who is officiating with vest, no jacket, and the two ushers have no vest or jacket. All will be wearing different patterned ties to coordinate with the sangria bridesmaid dresses.

So how much is the going rate for a DJ for a 4-ish hour reception? I've only talked to one so far. He comes with a good recommendation from a friend whose wedding he did, but he wants $750 as he's 3 hours away so he has to cover gas and a room for the night.

We're just looking for 6 PM to 10 PM. We're debating having a guitarist for the ceremony but as it's on the beach, amplification would probably be a no-go. Question is whether the sound would disappear should the day happen to be windy. And our venue does not allow amplified sound after 10 PM as a courtesy to the neighboring houses.

Our location is 3.5 hours from the triangle, so that would involve extra for gas & a room also. We're going to check into local options when we go down there in September but I'll keep him in mind if none of them are reasonable.

Amplification is a MUST on the beach.
Battery powered sound reinforcement can often be rented from some of the general rental companies.

We were going to do something similar and use a tree with thumbprints as leaves. I have decided to go with the tree idea and then have cut of leaves and have the guests sign them and put them on. ^

I am getting really excited too!!!

Ours is a tree with our initials "carved" in it and two little birdies on one branch. I got red, orange, and yellow ink for the thumb prints.

What is everyone doing for the "unifying stunt"?

two colored sands becoming one?
unity candle?
etc.....

I want to do something original but with the same idea of the two sands. Any cool ideas?

2^glitter instead of sand

our moms have requested a unity candle, but we originally weren't doing one. you could actually "tie the knot"" with a piece of rope or ribbon or something

I went to a wedding over the weekend in Denver. Very small (60 people total) & non traditional. They hosted a cookout at their home the night before the wedding (for everyone) & at the end of the evening, the fathers gave a small toast & then the couple said some things & planted a tree in their back yard together. It was really sweet!

Oh! I've also seen people write letters to each other and put them in a wooden box with a bottle of wine and then they nail it shut to open after their first big argument

and you can get a huge hollow pillar candle and fill the inside with sand and notes from each other, then cover with more sand and seal with more candle wax, read the notes on your first anniversary. I guess neither of those is a unity thing, but I like it.

Fuck me....sat at the wedding planner's office yesterday for two and a half hours with the fiance...that was a little bit of torture (I was not forewarned...I thought we were just meeting with a possible photographer). Briefly went over EVERYTHING because it was a budget meeting. Bleh. But THANK GOD I'm not paying for this shit. I am going to pray to never have a girl...and if I do, I'm going to raise her to be the most minimalist girl every.

^I can only imagine. We're paying for the majority of our own and it sucks even for a small wedding where we're trying to keep expenses in check. The costs must get completely out of hand when you're dealing with a huge guest list, open bar, etc.

I could barely afford the band we're having and I'm not broke. I feel like I'm going to have to give her mom ballin-ass Christmas and Birthday presents for the next 15 years.

True. But if I can, I'll pay for the wedding (as long as I like the dude). I just hope I can. I personally don't think my fiance is unreasonable or has expensive tastes. Our wedding will be very nice...but it's not "out of this world." And it's still expensive as fuck. I would just feel bad if my daughter would want a very nice, decent sized wedding (120+), and I couldn't give it to her.
