Just got back from the game. Well played pack, well played
10/14/2017 10:46:32 PM
Just to get everyone caught up. This is from this thread 2 years ago when everyone was using Harbaugh as an example of why we should expect results by year 3. I was labeled a troll for suggesting that wasn't fair and that we should wait until year 5.
10/15/2017 7:34:30 PM
Credibility still rising, but it won't be 100% until he gets a kicker that can at least get within 10 yards of the upright.
10/15/2017 9:24:43 PM
^Next year. Starting next year we should have at least a solid kicker for 3-4 years. Chris Dunn could have started last year as a Junior in HS but we'll have him starting as a true FR next year.
10/15/2017 9:41:58 PM
Yeah, just like Bambard was an awesome kicker! I'll believe it when I see it.
10/15/2017 10:15:19 PM
^lol but agree
10/15/2017 10:20:29 PM
dave doeren is a golden god.
10/16/2017 1:28:01 AM
DD would need to win 22 straight to match Jim Harbaugh's win percentage as of today. He'd have to win 30 straight conference games to match Harbaugh's conference win percentage as of today. But other then that, the Harbaugh comparison is pretty on point.EDIT: Also he's never been at a coaching stop for more than 4 years and took a Stanford team whose record the previous 5 years were a combined 16-40 so the "Harbaugh's had established talent throughout his career" narrative is bunk.[Edited on October 16, 2017 at 9:09 AM. Reason : .]
10/16/2017 8:56:53 AM
why would we compare DD to Harbaugh?
10/16/2017 10:22:44 AM
To be fair, Harbaugh has never coached in the toughest league in the country
10/16/2017 11:02:42 AM
well, toughest division anyway. Coastal outside of GT, VT, and Miami is hot garbage. GT is mediocre, and VT/Miami are legit. Then again, Louisville did just get mollywopped by Boston College, and BC. is. not. good.
10/16/2017 11:43:50 AM
is it the toughest division this year? the bottom is improved and clemson is still great. but fsu and louisville are pretty meh. us and wake have definitely stepped up. cuse is improving and bc, even though they just beat UL, is still pretty bad.
10/16/2017 12:36:54 PM
Eh, I can't get on the "ACC is still strong" bandwagon. I'd say we're overall weaker at the top(Clemson is worse, Miami is better, FSU and UL are much worse, and NC State is better). But we're also bad at the bottom(Pitt and UNC are MUCH worse than last year, BC and Duke are still below-average). We're worse at the top, the same at the bottom, and we are now middle-heavy with FSU/UL sliding back and Cuse/Wake taking a step up.
10/16/2017 1:34:44 PM
not sure i'd say clemson is significantly worse. they're not as good as last year but they're still a legit playoff contender (until 11/4 when we knock em off)
10/16/2017 1:36:05 PM
i dont know about fsu being "much worse"
10/16/2017 1:45:04 PM
10/25/2017 5:08:28 PM
would've gotten even more credibility if he threw a "pal" on the end
10/25/2017 5:18:19 PM
2nd half was dogshit. gotta at least play to win. we didn't play this game to win. its not a hurrican game. can't just hope nd goes the whole game without scoring[Edited on October 28, 2017 at 6:44 PM. Reason : damn]
10/28/2017 6:44:02 PM
Has DD won a big game yet?
10/28/2017 7:17:34 PM
technically, he hasn't beaten a ranked team. The FSU and Louisville games were an illusion.
10/28/2017 7:19:24 PM
Bye
10/28/2017 7:22:57 PM
-1 for not having any RB depth.
10/28/2017 7:46:09 PM
today is a no credibility changeoverall credibility will be judged at the end of the season. win the atlantic? highly credible. finish 8-4 with the roster we waited half a decade for? credibility in question
10/28/2017 7:52:49 PM
Theoretically, we could finish 8-4 and win the atlantic
10/28/2017 8:10:20 PM
Yup 8-4 would sound not great but 6-2 in acc would be something we haven't done in like 25+ years.
10/29/2017 9:04:41 AM
But for real: 9-3 or better shows the most important development, that we beat the teams we're supposed to beat down the stretch and only lost to the ones that were truly better (save SC in the opener).I'd be very pleased with 9-3 with the only remaining loss to Clemson and a bowl better than Charlotte.
10/29/2017 9:26:17 AM
11/3/2017 3:10:15 PM
no, this was the team we waited forexpectations were not high because we did nothing for 4 years
11/4/2017 12:32:02 AM
This was the team we waited for to see if he could compete. He's competing and shy of losing out, he's turned the corner. This is the best position we've been in as a program in any sport in my lifetime. Every other rise has been due to one great player or one great win but with DD, its different.
11/4/2017 3:24:28 AM
We've been ranked higher under AmatoWe've been closer to a division title with O'Brien
11/4/2017 10:38:01 AM
all beause of 1 player and when that player left we always went right back to sucking
11/4/2017 10:45:26 AM
You mean TA McClendon and nate Irving? Also good thing we don't have any great players on this team is guess?
11/4/2017 1:02:31 PM
Year fucking 5 and we dont have a kicker still.
11/4/2017 4:59:51 PM
-3 for still not recruiting someone who can make chipshot field goals
11/4/2017 5:00:08 PM
wouldn't matter if they had balls to call a pass into the endzone
11/4/2017 5:06:53 PM
Byeeeee
11/4/2017 6:12:09 PM
when we came out in the wildcat again i knew it was over if he wasn't throwing. too vanilla. not going to beat a great team playing like this.
11/4/2017 6:19:18 PM
7-5 again. That was the players putting it all out there and the coaches blowing it with the usual. They'll be deflated and exhausted next week, then the usual WF loss in W-S, then I guess a win over a shitball UNC team to save his job, plus another trip to The Who Cares Bowl.FOREVER
11/4/2017 7:20:22 PM
If he loses to BC or UNC he better get run out on a goddamn rail.
11/4/2017 7:24:55 PM
He always fucks something up on the margins. The talent and the effort is there, it's just never quite enough. If he wins out you give him the big contract. If he loses one, I think you still give him the extension but youre not happy about it.If he loses two of three, fuck him.
11/4/2017 7:26:47 PM
- terrible use of TOs - bad pass D, as always- piss poor Special Teams- FIRE HIM FOR NOT RECRUITING A GOD DAMN KICKER
11/4/2017 7:28:54 PM
11/4/2017 7:30:52 PM
^If the talent isn't there, then it will take exceptional coaching and gameplanning/scheming to overcome that gap. Dude's never shown that he can do that.
11/4/2017 7:31:47 PM
thats an accurate assessment. but being a top 5 team program is not a realistic requirement.[Edited on November 4, 2017 at 7:35 PM. Reason : this isn't florida]
11/4/2017 7:35:15 PM
He said in his first press conference that the reason he took the job here was so that he could go to Asheville and spend time fishing. And he repeated it like 3-4 times.
11/4/2017 7:37:00 PM
Cool, he would do well at Mars Hill.
11/4/2017 7:41:28 PM
Still credible.
11/4/2017 7:45:25 PM
2 years in a row he shriveled up against clemson. I'll live the rest of my life wondering why he kicked on 4th and goal at the 2. You don't trust your offense to get 2 but you trust them to get 60-80 in under 2 minutes??
11/4/2017 7:49:27 PM
Dabo went for it on 4th and 5 and got it. That was the game.I wasn't even upset with Doeren punting on 4th and 1 at the 50 because I didn't think we'd pick it up. This wasnt TOB pussying out, it was a debatable call, which says all it needs to. Can't trust these assholes to pick up one fucking yard[Edited on November 4, 2017 at 7:55 PM. Reason : WASNT]
