I would not want this job at all.

I'm not backing off my scorpions prediction.
1/6/2017 11:02:26 AM
Not even one flake. All sleet. Book it.
1/6/2017 11:45:37 AM
hmm, it's beginning to look like scorpions out there
1/6/2017 11:54:52 AM
1/6/2017 12:07:10 PM
Just south of downtown Raleigh, I'm starting to get paranoid that I'll get screwed again.
1/6/2017 12:08:17 PM
seems that way
1/6/2017 12:12:24 PM
^^^ I'll cash out out here please.[Edited on January 6, 2017 at 12:12 PM. Reason : Xm]
that's not even accumulation amounts, the rain at the beginning means that would be a dusting
1/6/2017 12:16:53 PM
Not that I trust a BUFKIT output but... huh? Pretty sure that .01" of rain doesn't keep 1.2" qpf of snow from accumulating..[Edited on January 6, 2017 at 12:20 PM. Reason : At 10:1 that is 12" of snow. Again, not happening but that data says that]
1/6/2017 12:18:09 PM
enough rain could make all the brine treatment on roads wash away
1/6/2017 12:24:00 PM
^^^ self'd.
1/6/2017 12:26:20 PM
yeah i dont think dtownral knows what he is looking at there
1/6/2017 12:36:06 PM
10" of rain
1/6/2017 12:41:29 PM
The gradient is gonna be nuts. Every single long and short term model has Wake Co split. Most show a foot in NW and like 2" in SE. Like clockwork. So glad I live in Durham now.
1/6/2017 12:58:59 PM
^[Edited on January 6, 2017 at 1:06 PM. Reason : .][Edited on January 6, 2017 at 1:07 PM. Reason : just showing visual evidence of the gradient, i dont expect 8" in DTR]
1/6/2017 1:05:40 PM
Just remember that while we may get a lot of sleet mixing in and that will probably still kill snowfall totals we still are looking at mostly wintery precip and snow mixed with sleets is actually gonna be worse for the actual roads than if it were all snow but higher totals.
1/6/2017 1:08:44 PM
I really hope it stays below freezing on Sunday because those overnight temps are going to masks everything a skating rink if we have melting..
1/6/2017 1:10:22 PM
friend in the State/Governor's Communications Office just told me they expect 11-17 inches
1/6/2017 2:11:39 PM
Few pellets of sleet off glenwood near 540 pinging the car as I'm sitting here
1/6/2017 2:14:15 PM
my body is readyfor hypothermia
1/6/2017 2:14:28 PM
light snow in pittsboro currently
1/6/2017 2:18:21 PM
Are the roads fine?
1/6/2017 2:21:05 PM
no way, ground temps way too cold, super treacherous
1/6/2017 2:21:33 PM
I KNEW IT !
1/6/2017 2:26:21 PM
forecasts converging on raleigh being definitely sleet
1/6/2017 2:41:08 PM
Not wrong. But it's going to be tight. Some of Triangle is going to get hammered with snow and some with sleet.Wouldn't surprise me to see downtown Durham and downtown Raleigh have a 6" snow differential. Also wouldn't surprise me if sleet and rain line moved 30 miles NW and fucked the entire Triangle.[Edited on January 6, 2017 at 2:51 PM. Reason : But not Roxboro!]
1/6/2017 2:50:24 PM
ugh 3-7 inches of mostly sleet, aka fuck me I'd rather have rain.
1/6/2017 3:01:10 PM
I just see all that sleet compacting, melting a bit under whatever cars drive around, then near zero degree temps turning it into a solid sheet of ice for monday morning haha
1/6/2017 3:09:48 PM
Really hope that there's a half decent snow component in DTR because ugh.
1/6/2017 3:15:47 PM
^^A solid sheet of ice is much easier to bike on than slushy snow. Got those carbide studded tips. [Edited on January 6, 2017 at 3:17 PM. Reason : s]
1/6/2017 3:16:04 PM
Wanna come bike me 25 miles into work Monday morning? lol
1/6/2017 3:20:46 PM
I regularly bike 18-38 miles in Denver after we get 6-8" of snow. When it's icy I have my 700x40mm carbide studded tires and when it's super slushy I got dat 27.5"+ fat bike with 3" tires. I'm flying by cars on the greenway with literally no other bike traffic.
1/6/2017 3:26:35 PM
1/6/2017 3:31:26 PM
7 inches of sleet would be awesome
1/6/2017 3:54:34 PM
I'd actually prefer a few inches of sleet/ice over <4 inches of snow. My sled will fly like the wind on some ice, but 4 inches of snow packed down isn't enough for it to do anything.
1/6/2017 3:57:43 PM
^That's the spirit!
1/6/2017 4:07:08 PM
1/6/2017 4:09:46 PM
So when is this shit gonna start?
1/6/2017 4:10:07 PM
Hey I really like riding in the snow/on ice. There's ton's of people on bike/hiking trails out here with fat bikes. It's a growing activity. I get excited everytime it snows (aside from skiing) because I get to ride around in it. It's even better because my daily commute is by bike. Just figured there's always a positive side to weather. Why not embrace it?
1/6/2017 4:12:00 PM
Do we have an update on roads yet?
1/6/2017 4:36:24 PM
Your roads are fine.
1/6/2017 4:41:16 PM
1/6/2017 4:43:23 PM
Light rain with large drops at my house south of downtown.
1/6/2017 4:48:38 PM
now raleigh is in the "up to .25" ice accumulation" range
1/6/2017 4:57:00 PM
Rain started at 4 in Chapel Hill. Just transitioned to sleet. Grocery store was a mad house!
1/6/2017 5:01:09 PM
Fuck some freezing rain yo
1/6/2017 5:17:25 PM
I live in hampton roads and got a blizzard warning from my employer before leaving work. Decided to just leave a couple hours early.COME ON S[NO]W!
1/6/2017 5:28:19 PM
I get the feeling I'll be working from home Monday.Which is actually not nearly as fun as it sounds. The best part is getting to sleep an extra half hour instead of drive.
