I wonder why it is that when players visit here they just say they "had a great time" as opposed to when players visit UNCheat they immediately put them at the top of their list. Why anyone would want to go that school is absurd, especially after the shit show they've put on this year with the scandal going on.
11/16/2010 6:31:42 PM
So where does this class of recruits currently rank amongst D-1 schools? Has to be close to the bottom. I feel like WCU probably has a better class.
11/17/2010 11:23:01 AM
So far it looks like the majority of our recruits haven't been evaluated, don't have stars, and therefore don't positively contribute to our class rankings. Therefore, they're all gonna suck.
11/17/2010 11:32:00 AM
Just read that Seckinger committed to Clemson. Suck.
11/17/2010 11:55:30 AM
damn that sucks. I thought he was ours. There are still some WR's out there. Hopefully Dexter Bridge likes us.
11/17/2010 1:39:31 PM
He was never ours. Dude loved clemson and grew up dreaming of playing there. Our offer was a full scholly offer, theirs was a greyshirt (enter in 2011 class) and from everything I read, he is taking the greyshirt offer.

It would seem that some linebackers would take note of our lb play this season w/ tenuta.Commentator at the beginning of the UNC game claimed that the Wolfpack arguably has the best combo of linebackers in the country w/ Irving, Manning, and Cole.
11/23/2010 2:37:32 PM
^ totally agree. However I think most kids want to see sustainable success. Despite UNC paying players and getting side-benefits for them, they did have two winning seasons in a row and a few of the talking-heads mentioned them as dark horse national title contenders. As preposterous as all that was it definitely got into recruits heads. So I think we may not see a lot of the benefits this year in our recruiting class, but if we start out doing well next year I think next year's class could be unprecedented or at least up there with some of our best classes. You never know as well because signing day is a month after all the bowl games, and if we could win some more and go to a good bowl, and dare i say Orange Bowl, and beat somebody worth a damn, TOB may pull a Feb surprise and close on a lot of undecided kids who would have NEVER looked at us before.
11/23/2010 2:49:45 PM
^speaking of LBs and next year. Anyone know how EJ Carter is looking in practices? I really don't know how the whole sit-out for 2010 thing works, he is still practicing right? I have heard that we should expect him to make a significant positive impact to our D.
11/24/2010 10:42:52 AM
I've heard that he looks good and is one of the hardest hitters on the defense. No one will be able to take over for Nate, but if Manning and Cole continue to improve, then I think we'll be ok with Carter or whoever the third starting LB is.
11/24/2010 10:46:22 AM
Sterling Lucas and Dwayne Maddox will be returning seniors. I know Carter started as a true freshman at Syracuse and was all-conference, but our LB depth is pretty deep. I'm sure he'll get rotated in some on defense - probably will start on special teams.
11/24/2010 11:06:02 AM
didnt Drew Owens postpone his announcement?also, at the UNC game we had the following recruits there from NC State’s perspective linebacker/defensive end Ben Councell from A.C. Reynolds High in Asheville, N.C., Councell is best described as a soft Notre Dame verbal commitment. He is interested in both NC State and UNC.Junior receiver Jody Fuller from Sun Valley High in Monroe, defensive tackle K’Hadree Hooker from South Lenoir High in Deep Run and offensive lineman D.J. Reader from Grimsley High in Greensboro, Defensive end Gimel President from Wando High in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.All 4 claim verbal offers from NC State.

not much to talk about but i saw this little nugget and had no idea we even made this dude's final five:Demetrious Nicholson"When the season ends Nicholson will make his college choice. Last month he narrowed his list to Stanford, Virginia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, West Virginia and Clemson. He hopes to postpone his decision until at least Dec. 12 - the day after the Group AAA Division 6 state championship."http://hamptonroads.com/2010/11/bright-future-sight-bayside-star-focuses-title

Meh, check the last 10 national champions with their star ratings and get back to me.
11/29/2010 11:24:44 PM
^meh, i'm just reminding some folks that players that don't get the *s coming out of hs can still be good/great college players. I'm not saying that it doesn't take some 4 & 5-star guys to be national champions.[Edited on November 29, 2010 at 11:44 PM. Reason : V No doubt. But I hope you're not hoping for that anytime soon.]
11/29/2010 11:36:48 PM
Nobody can argue that sometimes 1,2,3 star players end up being studs, but uh ill take my chances with a class of 4-5 star players.
11/29/2010 11:41:28 PM
Chris Johnson was a 2** recruit with no national rankinghttp://rivals.yahoo.com/eastcarolina/football/recruiting/player-Chris-Johnson-21370

11/30/2010 1:07:31 PM
^^no shit. but just at the top of this page, people are bitching about our class ranking... as i said, just a reminder. dude.V 200, huh? Western Carolina you say? Need I point out we had 3(4) that made all-acc honorable mention or higher? Guess we really beat them 1 in 200 odds, eh?[Edited on November 30, 2010 at 4:27 PM. Reason : ]
11/30/2010 4:17:12 PM
For every 2 star player that ends up being Russell Wilson, you have about 200 others who suck and wouldn't start for Western Carolina.
11/30/2010 4:22:51 PM
Do I really need to write up a list of 2 star guys that never ended up doing shit? Because I guarantee you that list is a LOT longer than yours.
11/30/2010 4:35:38 PM
^nobodies making that argument. dude.V seems like you're just trying to argue. i'm just reminding those who are bitching about our incoming class (who i'm not exactly happy with either at this point), stars don't always mean everything, especially in football. I also said I'd rather have a class of 4 or 5 *s and be national champions. But that ain't happening in the next couple seasons brosky. [Edited on November 30, 2010 at 4:49 PM. Reason : ]
11/30/2010 4:37:31 PM
It sure seems like you are.
11/30/2010 4:39:54 PM
stars don't mean everything but they usually mean SOMETHING. a 4 star player isn't necessarily better than a 2 or 3 star player, but then again the odds are that 4 star player will have a better college career than that 2 or 3 star player. typically, the reason guys that are 2 or 3 star players coming out of high school and end up doing big things have one or more of the following qualities:1) They were late bloomers (maybe didn't do a ton till their senior year of high school)2) They didn't play for a good/well known program3) They didn't go to many/any combines OR just had an off day at combines4) They don't have that NFL ideal size/speedIt's not possible for them to see every high school player, so they tend to focus on the ones that gets lots of college attention early and the ones that do well at combines. I'm sure I don't have to tell you guys this.

Its sad that we even have to have this conversation....
11/30/2010 5:43:48 PM

11/30/2010 6:04:46 PM
^^It is sad, but we have too many stupid fans that see a 3* commit and they say "oh great! 3 *s? He must suck."And we have recruited some top talent (or *s, if that's what you mean).... Glennon, Barnes, Mattes, Byrd, Manning, Creecy, Amerson, Crisp, Watson, Jones, Chandler, .... but yeah, it'd be nice to get mo[Edited on November 30, 2010 at 6:39 PM. Reason : forgot mustafa]
