Looks like nobody went to the gunshow in W-S this weekend...Since when does reason affect gun prices? Not insinuating anyone here is stupid, but people on CSC are and I simply copied the ad from there.
12/25/2012 3:09:07 PM
haha actually I was there. sold an "assault rifle" myself and made a decent profit i just didn't think about the ban affecting handgun stuff too
12/25/2012 3:20:25 PM
Truly it shouldnt, but the Glock people there were saying the company might start shipping everything with one 10rd mag instead of three 17rd.Probably just trying to boost their own sales, and no I didnt notice handguns selling out, but it was adding to the frenzy I believe.I appreciate the offers ive gotten here, but someone on CSC has offered much more.

Looking forward to the gun show Jan 18

FS: Glock 22 RTF2 (aka fish gills) with night sights. $525 oboThe gun is like new in box, with about 250 rounds fired through it. It comes with the glock tuperware and two of those scary high capacity 15 round magazines.

So I've been in the market for both a pistol and a shotgun for a while. My brother has a couple of guns, and I went shooting with him yesterday. He knows a good deal more about guns than I do, but he also turns into a salesman when I try to talk to him about what I'm looking for.I want a 12-gauge shotgun that will double as home defense and something fun to go out and shoot occasionally. I really like his Mossberg 590. I also want a pistol. Same general purpose -- mostly for taking it to a range but with a general nod toward home defense. After spending countless hours reading forum posts of folks arguing between 9mm and .40 S&W, I've come to the conclusion that I'm nowhere near coming to a conclusion as to whether I want 9mm or .40. I think I want something like a Ruger SR9. I really liked my brother's compact Ruger (it was a .40, not sure of exact model). If anyone wants to point a gun newbie in the right direction or sell me something I'm looking for, PM me. I'm in the Greenville/Kinston area, so also let me know if you know of good resources in that area.

^^^I prefer 9mm. but it is all just personal preference. do you plan on carrying at all? if not, then I'd just get a full size pistol- less recoil + higher capacity = less down time at the range =more fun at the range. I'm lucky I'm a big enough guy that I can CC a full size pistol. other questions- do yoy want a mechanical safety? what are you willing to spend?[Edited on December 30, 2012 at 9:12 PM. Reason : g]
12/30/2012 9:05:14 PM
Doubt I will ever carry. I'm a teacher, so it would have to stay at home 90 percent of the time anyway. Leaning full size for that very reason. If my career takes me elsewhere and I decide to get a CCW permit, I would go back and buy a compact. Mechanical safety isn't a deal-breaker either way (pending more experienced folks' opinions, which could shape mine).I'd like to spend less than $400, closer to $300 if it's possible to get a quality gun in that range. I don't mind spending a little more for something that is going to be reliable, but I don't want to get carried away just yet.
12/30/2012 9:35:45 PM
$450+tax will get you a Glock 19 at Ed's in Vass if they've got any in stock. that's what i'd suggest.
12/30/2012 9:50:06 PM
^Is that for Gen 3? I went to the site and he just posted a quote for Gen 4. It was $549.95 with 3 mags.
12/30/2012 11:25:13 PM
yes, gen 3
12/30/2012 11:31:18 PM
under 400?Buy a used Sig 226Go shop at Lawmens in raleighUsed sig mags are cheap, and every place I look has tons of 226 accessories, esp holsters in stock.I like my plastic guns. However, my sig is easy to handle for those with medium to large hands, and heavy enough that small hands can still keep it under control. Double action capable with decocker means no manual safety you can forget and leave cut to click instead of bang.I know way too many folks who carry Glocks or other striker fired guns with no external safety who carry empty chamber due to being nervous about one in the chamber. I know that even with the grip safety on my XD, I jsut did not feel as confident carrying it +1 as I did the 1911 I grew up handling. all of my full size guns I still own are ones with a decocker vs a safety

1/2/2013 7:56:20 PM
don't know...just something that doesn't use the most expensive ammo
1/2/2013 10:16:06 PM
You using it for personal protection? Or just plinking at the range?
1/2/2013 10:45:50 PM
I can't decide if I want a 10.5" barrel .44 Super Blackhawk or a P226 MK25 next. I'll eventually get both but purchases like these are about (or less than) 1/yr for meThe latter would be more useful as I don't own a 9mm and would like to get more skilled with the round, and the 226 is a great platform (particularly like the navy configuration, except it lacks the short-reset trigger). When I eventually streamline and cull my collection to a handful of choice cartridges I'm sure 9mm will be in the cut. The former just...satisfies me. And I'd like to put optics on it. orI know what the answer is but I want that six-shooter dammitThanks for listening/blog[Edited on January 2, 2013 at 11:01 PM. Reason : big pic]
1/2/2013 10:58:12 PM
black hawk. you can find 226 any day of the week. I imagine a 10.5" .44 mag is a bit harder to find?
1/2/2013 11:00:16 PM
Be careful with the Ruger. They are terrible about canting the sights. My 7.5 inch 44 mag had them (ever so slightly). Was enough to make me sell it rather than fix.Was a beautiful gun too... A Bisley even
1/2/2013 11:02:43 PM
^^ Yeah but they're around...see them from time to time. don't see too many mk25 sigs either^ If I bought a new one and the sights were canted you don't think I could send it back to the factory to correct it on their dime? I've heard good things about Ruger CS[Edited on January 2, 2013 at 11:07 PM. Reason : damn]

Up for sale is a matching numbers Mosin Nagant sniper in true excellent condition. The mounted scope is a quality reproduction with a crystal clear view and leather covers. This 91/30 has beautiful rifling and the receiver is CAI import marked. With tight, yet smooth operation, this a very accurate rifle with a beautiful stock and excellent condition metal. A true valuable collector rifle that's still fun to shoot with ammo still readily available. This Nagant has the arrow-in-triangle under the serial number, which I believe means it's an Izhevsk (legit snipers) and not a Tula which features a big arrow-in-star on the barrel shank. The reason I'm selling is because I'm simply not into older guns and this sniper was acquired though an oddball trade when I was simply trigger happy to attain any gun that looked cool. Turns out that the sniper is a matching numbers rifle, but is a reproduction of sorts. The scope is a working reproduction, but is not original, nor is it probable that the rifle ever originally had a scope. Bad trades leave a bad taste in my mouth so I've come up with a solution. All proceeds will go towards a tax deductable donation to Urban Life Ministries. This fundraiser is being organized by a friend of mine and I think donating the proceeds of this gun is a good way for me to let bygones be bygones so I don't hold any grudges against a bad trade (and friend) and for me (you) to make a tax deductable contribution to a great cause. I 'paid' $500 for this gun and I'm asking for $450 in the form of a check being made out to Urban Life Ministries. I will bring an stamped envelope with the address and I'll stick the check inside and mail it off after the gun transfer takes place. The buyer will then receive a receipt that they can claim on their tax return. A NC gun bill of sale will also be completed at the time of gun transfer as well. Below is a little more information about Urban Life Ministries. If you would like to donate you are welcome to write a tax deductible check to Abundant Life Ministries or Urban Life Ministries and mail it to 14638 Via Sorrento Drive, Charlotte, NC 28277.A Fundraiser to raise money to support people in need. Inner city of Charlotte, and the castaways in Iquitos, Peru. $250,000 is the goal.DescriptionCaptured by a Dream is a multi-faucet fundraiser that has the goal of raising $250,000. For every $6 raised, $1 will go straight into the inner city of Charlotte, into the ministry Urban Life; $0.25 to GIVE FIFTY ONE to help end child homelessness and $4.75 will go straight to building houses for the lost, persecuted, abandoned, hopeless street people of Iquitos, Peru. Iquitos is a poverty stricken city that is full of moral decay, sex trafficking, and drug abuse. The church, Abundant Life Ministries is the organization that we are raising money to help build homes to house people who are afflicted by the moral decay of the city. They have a heart for the unlovable, unforgivable, and undesirable. Currently they have a SafeHouse for redeemed drug addicts, with current numbers around 50, ranging in ages from 13-51. The goal for this fundraiser is to use the money to build 3 houses in Peru. One will be built for Prostitutes and street women; these women were raised to be prostitutes, they were sex trafficked by their own families. Now they have young children and they want a safe way out, the Abundant Life Ministries church wants to offer them that and so much more. The other two houses will be for young boys and girls who are kicked to the streets by their families, they often turn to prostitution for money as they have no mastered robbery yet, and because of that, turn to drugs and alcohol. Many of these kids are 8, 9, and 10 years old. I ask that you consider donating even just $6 to help out. There's also going to be a Masquerade Ball in January to raise funds too. The goal is for all of the money to be raised by that day, but if they are not, fundraising will not stop. Please take a stance against letting people suffer because they were born into unsightly circumstances.

I don't know how to post pictures... so if someone can let me know or if you're interested I can just send them via email.
1/2/2013 11:46:45 PM
if you have them hosted online, right-click on the image and click "copy image location" (or if using internet explorer click properties and copy from that), then just click on the "insert image!" button on the button bar at the top of the topic reply pane for this thread and paste the link into the box. It will automatically add the image tags. if they're on your computer, upload them to your wolf-web photo gallery by clicking the "photo gallery" link at the top of the site and then "my gallery" on the right, "add photos" on the right, and use the uploader. then follow instructions above. I'd be interested in the rifle myself but I doubt you're going to get your asking price unless someone is more interested in donating than the rifle itself. Good, matching, clean Mosins can be had "new" for less than $100 and the replica scopes/hardware (that I assume you're referring to) new for $250 or less. Given than it's "used" ("new" and "used" of course being relative terms for surplus rifles like these), I'd say $300 is a fair starting price on your end and expect people to try to whittle you down. That said, post the pictures (tight shots of receiver, bolt, bore, optics, etc in addition to whole gun all help) and hopefully someone will give you the $450 out of interest in the charity.[Edited on January 3, 2013 at 12:06 AM. Well, since you commented that you wanted something with cheap ammo, and it's just a plinker, I was going to suggest a .22 revolver.
1/3/2013 9:51:46 AM
i just meant comparatively cheap (i should have specified)...i know .22 is about as cheap as you can get, and i know that revolvers come in many sizesmy bad
1/3/2013 9:54:08 AM
just get you a .357 and shoot .38 specials in it. you should be able to find a reasonably priced one and i wouldn't feel terribly under-gunned with a .357 for home defense.
1/3/2013 9:58:41 AM
Get one of those Ruger revolvers with interchangeable cylinders. They make one that shoots 357/38 as well as 9mm.Thats about as universal as it gets.Keep in mind a 9mm is actually a .355 I think, so the accuracy shooting those is a bit compromised. I believe you have to use moonclips as well, which isnt that big a deal to shoot such a popular caliber. It might be a single action though... Havent been to Rugers website in awhile, but I love them.
1/3/2013 10:04:40 AM
Ruger convertibles only come in single action. Swapping out the cylinders on a DA is more difficult and timing isn't as simple. They don't use moon clips as they're SA; they headspace on the case mouths. If you want relatively cheap then 9mm is the way to go. There are plenty of decent used 9mms out there and the ammo is the cheapest centerfire out there.
1/4/2013 1:02:47 PM
welp, it sold within an hour on CSC for what I was asking for, so that's why I didn't even get around to posting pictures. I think the right person was on at the right time for that sale. Thanks Paerabol for the tips and I'll remember that process if I have anything else to sell down the road, which I might since I have a Beretta INOX and a 5.56 AR15 that I might let go.
1/4/2013 11:45:22 PM
^ want to sell your 5.56 ammo?
1/4/2013 11:53:25 PM
I actually only have about 30 rds of 5.56, but I have a couple hundred of 223. I'm still up in the air about selling the gun, so I won't part ways with the ammo until then.
1/5/2013 12:12:02 AM
