to celebrate 100, some more from a long long time ago. I should really go through my model shoot pics more often.
1/8/2009 1:19:05 AM
i love how the panties come through the under armor
1/8/2009 1:28:55 AM
that's what I thought, but everyone else said they hated it.

She absolutely does not look prepared to engage in any sports.I could make some "she looks ready to get physical though" or "touch football" jokes, but that'd be too easy.
1/8/2009 1:31:29 AM
I need to find a model with more perky boobs, natural, but needs to be self supporting.
1/8/2009 1:34:46 AM
we need to combine powers and go shoot some models at abandoned locations(not mine of course)
1/8/2009 1:37:44 AM
I rarely do modeling shoots with assistants. Usually just me, the model, and the camera's.
1/8/2009 1:46:03 AM
I wish I had an assistant. So much can be done with a remote flash and a reflector. Shit, even just someone to hold a reflector during outdoor shots makes a world of difference.
1/8/2009 1:51:22 AM
I have a reflector holder for a light stand. I really need to get some sandbags or weights. The last two outdoor sessions have had wind problems... grrrr.
1/8/2009 1:54:02 AM
Do you have a frame and fabric reflector or a collapsible? Collapsible are the much cheaper and convenient option, but I think using them on a stand outdoors is a bit suspect.I REALLY REALLY want to purchase a 42in 5in1 reflector though.
1/8/2009 1:57:10 AM
I have the 42" 5in1 reflector, the generic one from adorama. First thing I got before i got strobes. Does wonders. I mainly use that and foamcore to reflect light where I need to. I need to order some umbrella's. I had a pair of them last year but they "blew away" and broke. lol. Haven't replaced them yet.
1/8/2009 2:02:17 AM
One of my resolutions for the new year, which isn't exactly a resolution as much as it is excitement over having new toys to play with, is to take my camera with me almost everywhere (including work) and shoot as much as I can. I'm not going to do anything lame and join one of those "take a photo a day for a year" groups on Flickr or anything, but I'm trying to shoot as much as possible, even if it isn't of anything spectacular.30 second exposure of my buddy and I jamming this evening.Random shots of the sky today.Shot at the NCSU Women's Bball news conference today.Office.Lilo.SebastianOur girlfriends didn't want to wait for us to get to the car.On the job:Bev Perdue's conference where she named some of her cabinet members.Advanced paramedics program being unveiled by Raleigh EMS.Duke basketball post-game presser.Wallace Wade Stadium at Duke. Ronny who do you work for?
1/8/2009 9:08:50 AM
urinals, so quirky.Let's make a new rule where every shot needs to also show the sspeed, aperture, focal length, and any other info on how it was shot like tripod or not, etc. I know most have embedded EXIF data, but ts a pain to save and view every picture. I'd be REAALLL interested in this, TWW, appease me.
1/8/2009 10:07:14 AM
no... if you want to know, download and right click that son of a bitch! Although, I do remember every lighting scenario I've ever done, even the complex studio shots.
1/8/2009 11:41:41 AM
Does Flickr remove EXIF data? For some of these shots they are so chopped up or have used so many different techniques (HDR or whatever) that having the original info might not help that much. Personally I have a lot of respect for those who take amazing shots without photoshop.
1/8/2009 12:00:15 PM
You know what'd be sweet? Is there a way you can create like a histogram of focal lengths in Adobe LR, etc for your entire collection or per folder, etc. Then you if you can see where you like to shoot. Good info for buying a new prime thats in the range of yoru zoom or something.I need a new wider/normal lense. a fast 50mm is tempting, but i'm almost thinking thats too tight. Maybe a 35mm?
1/8/2009 12:05:35 PM
50 on full frame is nice... but for a crop body, I'd say 35 too. I still don't use my 50 1.4 on my 1D much cause it just feels too tight for normal use. When I had the 5D, it was perfect.^^one of our instructors at school yesterday showed us some photo illustrations of a master print artist/photographer who did some crazy masking jobs with film. The pics look fairly simple to do in photoshop, but this was in the 70's and it's really quite remarkable. I want to learn how shit like that got done before the age of computers and photoshop. It was hard for me to even realize this world before I got to school.God damn, crazy shit. I'm gonna try to learn how to do split processing and masking in the dark room. Then we learn color processing in a few weeks. Those enlargers look scary hard.
1/8/2009 12:12:13 PM
Yeah, I don't use photoshop for much. When I worked at the paper I learned color correction and prep-for-print stuff, but I really don't know too much more than that. Some slight levels adjustments in curves and maybe a +5 on the contrast is usually the extent of it.
1/8/2009 1:20:58 PM
^so you work as a photog for a newspaper?i was talking to a girl in Boston who was a manager at a news station up there and she said they don't have any dedicated photogs. They just pull frames off their video most of the time. Does that sound right?
1/8/2009 1:23:00 PM
No, I work for a news station, and yeah, everything on the website is a videograb. I was referring to when I worked at Technician.
1/8/2009 1:27:09 PM
those kind of color correction is easy. ICC profiles and working with dozens of possible mediums is a Honestly can't wait till summer when we get to play with the epson large format printers. mmmmmmmm

1/8/2009 7:44:35 PM
i was wanting an Nikon F3 for awhile. still do, but i'm broke. its not fully mechanical though. an F2 is fully mechanical. And they can all mount modern lenses and vise versa.
1/8/2009 8:08:25 PM
does having a dslr help with the learning process, just being able to take 500+ pictures and see what works or would a 35mm slr be fine?
1/8/2009 8:10:27 PM
^^^I dunno about the deal, but why is there a flash pictures but not mentioned? If it includes that vivitar flash then I'd certainly say get it.^Yes. If you don't know what you're doing and don't know how to use ALL of the manual functions on a camera, then absolutely yes. You'll waste a shitload of money developing poorly exposed images, as opposed to being able to look at it on your monitor and say "oh shit, I need to use a different shutter speed/aperture/film speed." Also, old film cameras don't have on board light meters, and if they do they are pretty inaccurate.
1/8/2009 8:23:13 PM
^^i shot on film for years, including developing my own, before i ever got a DSLRsometimes i look at stuff i used to shoot and think i actually am/was better on film...^and it may have been for that very reasonyou don't just take random pictures of crooked fucking ducks[Edited on January 8, 2009 at 8:26 PM. Reason : THANK YOU MISS LIPPY]
1/8/2009 8:24:48 PM
I was going to add that the benefit of film is that it does make you more discriminating with your shot selection. But no amount of light meters or modern (entry-level kits lens lol) technology can help stupid. For someone inexperienced with proper exposure, a dslr would help because you'd be inclined to shoot more, you'd be able to make appropriate adjustments on the fly, etc.Once you learn the basics and how to handle a camera, then film is a more logical choice.
1/8/2009 8:29:16 PM
meh, my dad and step dad both were camera guys, (both motorcycle guys too, i guess my mom has a type) so i grew up with "real" camerasand when i got my first one, it was just kinda natural...but yeah, i guess at this pointbeginners might as well pick up a DSLR and start shooting weddings
1/8/2009 8:33:17 PM
Everyone with a digital SLR is a professional, you didn't know?Shit, open up your kit lens as much as possible (likely f/3.5), pop that on-board flash up, put it on aperture priority (since no self-respecting person would ever be caught using green square, even if they probably should be) and you're ready for a Pulitzer.[Edited on January 8, 2009 at 8:38 PM. for those of you who want to peek at EXIF data and also use firefox:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5673the extension puts any EXIF data that is embedded in firefox's right click menu. that is, right click and hit properties, and you'll see it if it's there. on this page JBAZ has them but ronny does not.

1/8/2009 10:24:54 PM
looks like from my flickr page that only the originals have exif data. the resizes don't.
1/8/2009 10:39:53 PM
It appears that when flickr grabs the exif data for its own pages from your uploaded picture, it doesn't copy it over to the resized versions of the picture that it creates. so the exif data dead ends on the flickr page.I suppose this is a way to "add value" to flickr rather than just use it for hosting.edit: ^yeah, only on the original size picture, which is only for pro accounts that let you look at all sizes.
