IM THROWING A FLAG AT DOEREN FOR RECRUITING KYLE BAMBARD
10/6/2017 1:50:10 AM
Kicker in next year's class is ranked #1 in the country on various sites. He's been approached by a ton of schools to flip apparently but he's firm with State. Starting next year, barring injury, we should have a 4-year starter at K that is dependable.

But we were definitely few and far between. He deserves to flaunt this one he nailed it and caught a LOT of flak along the way from people who weren't really paying attention to the process instead of the direct w/l results.I mean look at this team... we legitimately have a shot to win the ACC.4 years ago we were 0-11 and now UNC might go 0-11. I think we made the right hire. [Edited on October 7, 2017 at 6:51 PM. Reason : a]

I know there are others but the point here is not that we were right, but that we were denigrated and called trolls just because we thought differently than rest of the mob. The mob felt so strongly about how bad Doeren was that they literally believed anyone who didn't think Doeren should've been fired at the time, was only pretending to support Doeren to make them mad. This is the type of community where "Everybody says it, it must be true".The same thing happened to me simultaneously with Gottfried. This abuse went on for about 3 years. I'm still called "Earl" and "troll" in every section because of it. Stand up people will apologize.
10/7/2017 6:52:06 PM
I think we also need to take into consideration him bringing on Drink. He is night and day from that dumpster fire Canada, that has made a huge difference. If only we could get Archer back to coach our D, we would contend yearly. That man was a psycho on the sidelines.
10/7/2017 7:58:59 PM
We never went 0-11 and UNC has one win already. But I'm guessing face meant 0-8 acc record. And I get e man bragging. Good for him and anybody else that nailed it (From memory, I didn't throw in the towel until after BC last year but I was very optimistic about this season). I just mean at this point, we all get it. And you can give it a rest. We're all State fans. Let's all enjoy that we're having a hell of a season so far

Contract extension!https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/acc/2017/10/10/nc-state-negotiating-dave-doeren-contract-extension/750164001/

after one big home winthere’s no reason to not wait until after the season to do this
10/10/2017 1:02:19 PM
^Unless Tennessee is on his nuts. In which case I would let him leave.
10/10/2017 1:03:03 PM
ehhh...generally i'd be in favor of waiting till the end of the season. but, i also think our best bet for building a program with sustainable success is not cycling coaches every 5 years. and if other schools (no idea if it's true) are interested in DD, then i'd try to lock him up to prevent another coaching search and potential re-build. if we think DD's the guy, then lock him up long term
10/10/2017 1:18:55 PM
he already is locked up long term
10/10/2017 1:20:03 PM
He has 2 years left on his contract, I honestly think we'll only add another 2 years to it and it'll go a long way with the perception that he's on the hot seat here. Tons of recruits already said Doeren was being negatively recruited against citing that he was on the hot seat and wouldn't survive this year. Hopefully the kids understand that's clearly not the case, but pointing to a contract extension would basically silence that angle. On one hand he's got our program pointed in the right direction. On the other hand he still hasn't put together a season with more than 3 ACC wins.
10/10/2017 1:27:26 PM
truthfully, nobody's ever really locked up long term i guess (especially at a place like State). if somebody really wanted to hire him away, they'd find the money to do so. if we wanted to fire him, we'd fire him. obviously the buyout is always a concern, but it's the type of thing where universities can usually find the money to make it work if they want it bad enough. but imo it's more of a gesture of confidence in the staff and desire to keep him around rather than truly preventing him from going elsewhere. because again, if tennessee (and i haven't heard any rumors, just throwing that name out there) thought he'd save their program then they'd find the money to buy out his contact. or if DY thought he was a shit coach and should be fired, we'd find the money to buy it out. so i guess "lock him up long term" wasn't the best/most accurate phrasing...because i think it's more the gesture that anything.
10/10/2017 1:31:49 PM
*wet blanket alert*This seems premature. Next year looks bleak (lose 8/11 starters on defense + JaySam). We've pulled in worse classes the past 4 years Doeren has been here (last 5 classes according to rivals - 53, 44, 36, 30, 46). While we have a shot at having a great season this year, we're a 7-5 football team that has a shot at finishing 10-2 or 9-3 because of a soft schedule (something I didn't think I'd say before the season but UNC/Pitt/UL/FSU all are dramatically worse then coming into the season + Clemson and ND's starting QB's are injured) and injury luck. We're essentially UNC in 2015 with this playoffs talk (not necessarily in this thread but elsewhere).[Edited on October 10, 2017 at 2:55 PM. Reason : .]
10/10/2017 2:54:26 PM
Yeah I mean there's already talk of LSU wanting to fire Orgeron and he has a $12 million buyout! But those idiots deserve him.
10/10/2017 2:54:40 PM
It's not like he's getting a Fedora 7-year contract extension, they'll probably just tack on another 2 or 3 years to his already existing contract to help with recruits. This isn't a big deal.
10/10/2017 3:47:24 PM
while i understand the sentiment that this may be premature (wait till the end of the season) i think one thing being overlooked is recruiting...he was on the hot seat last year. probably had a lot of other schools telling recruits that he wouldn't be here much longer. a contract extension can certainly help ease recruits' mind as far as that goes.[Edited on October 10, 2017 at 4:14 PM. Reason : and ^ is likely right][Edited on October 10, 2017 at 4:22 PM. Reason : i said overlooked but i missed Luda already made that point]

Very few programs recruit consistently each year. Recruiting happens in waves when you have playing time open up.
10/10/2017 7:43:55 PM
I looked at the roster 2 weeks ago and I think were in good position for next year. The strength of our team will be the offense, but if we keep ledford, our O line should be fantastic (only adams leaves) and we keep our receiving core and RB. O wont miss a beat without JSam. Cook may be a bigger loss actually.
10/11/2017 11:59:30 AM
our offense should be great next year, but we're definitely gonna miss JaySam. he's our best WR and arguably our best RB. and his versatility is part of what makes the offense so good and hard to defend.
10/11/2017 12:12:48 PM
That is why we need a strong finish and contract extension. He will easily recruit a team with 4 or 5 guys like jaysam bo hines, and matt dayes. This offense would score 40ppg with a few more of those guys.[Edited on October 11, 2017 at 12:57 PM. Reason : 3 star recruits]
10/11/2017 12:56:20 PM
If you go 0-8 and only beat east butt fuck central I round that up to 0-11.
10/11/2017 8:35:57 PM
We are now 24th in the power ratings and that's with it overstimating our south Carolina loss because it has them ranked 54th. They'd clearly be much higher if they hadn't lost their best player.
