We've got to keep winning.
10/31/2010 3:47:55 PM
Owens said he is going to announce the week after his OV to State, and that he is down to us, UNC and South Carolina.
11/2/2010 11:45:53 AM
what great timing to have an official visit. If he's not leaning towards us, hopefully a big game by Bryan and a win over the Deacs will help sway his decision.
11/2/2010 12:11:38 PM
How high are we on Travis Hughes? He visited for the FSU game and goes to Clemson this weekend. If we have a big showing this weekend at Clemson that HAS to be big for us
11/2/2010 5:13:48 PM
you'd think LBs (anthony & hughes) would like what tenuta's doing with irving/manning/cole
11/2/2010 7:55:56 PM
Anyone able to get onto Pack Pride? I can't get onto the boards tonight, thinking they may be down?
11/2/2010 9:14:52 PM
All the scout affiliated sites have been fucking up for several days.
11/2/2010 9:19:54 PM
w/ anthony listing clemson as high...you'd have to think we get a boost w/ a W there this weekend.
11/2/2010 10:52:01 PM
yea the game vs Clemson would likely be huge for both Hughes(will be at game) and Anthony
11/2/2010 11:16:22 PM
Interesting that Hughes would get to see us play twice in two weeks. PP also has Marquise Williams visiting for the Wake game. I hope we can finish the season strong and sway some bigger names to jump on board.
11/2/2010 11:23:03 PM
i haven't seen anything to confirm that hughes actually visited us because on some other site it has his "commentary on a UVa official visit" last weekend when he was scheduled for us. confused
11/3/2010 8:37:45 AM
I would be able to tell if I could get on the stupid ass boards, but Scout is down and out from the looks of it.

Jesse Hayes is going to Wisconsin and Nicholas Law to Iowa:Three-star defensive end Jesse Hayes of Moeller (Cincinnati, Ohio) has committed to Wisconsin over Nebraska and Oregon. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound standout was also offered by Cincinnati, Florida State, California, Arizona, North Carolina State, Iowa, Tennessee, West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Virginia, Duke, Illinois, Kansas, Louisville and Minnesota."Wisconsin is the best fit for me," he told ESPN's Bill Kurelic. "I really like the people there."Hayes becomes the 18th pledge for the Badgers.----------------------------------------------------------------Rated a three-star prospect by ESPNU, defensive back Nicholas Law of Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.) has committed to head coach Kirk Ferentz and Iowa. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Law also considered Maryland, West Virginia, Louisville and Cincinnati.Among his other offers were Illinois, Kansas, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse and Virginia.Law registered 61 tackles, four sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and one defensive touchdown during his junior campaign. The Hawkeyes now have 16 pledges.

we've just got to keep winning and have a really good year. I'm ok with taking a small class this year if it will just setup for next year. I'd like to take another WR and plenty of help along the defensive front and another good LB prospect
11/3/2010 12:12:36 PM
it's surprising to me that we're not attracting more WR recruits, especially considering our passing tendencies and our depth. We're losing 3 senior starters this year and 3 more juniors next year. After that, we've got Quinton Payton, Bryan Underwood, and Tobias Palmer, assuming the coaches even play him at the position.I hope we can bring in 2-3 WR's in this class. Anyone know if Seckinger will be at Clemson this weekend?
11/4/2010 12:49:54 PM
Sounds like Seckinger prefers clemson and may choose the Tigers despite only having a Grey-Shirt offer at the moment. My guess is that if they extend him a full offer its over for us, but damn that guy has good film!
11/4/2010 12:57:16 PM
This might turn out to be the worst recruiting year in recent memory
11/7/2010 4:04:57 PM
Norkeithus Otis to UNC.... damnLinebacker Norkeithus Otis of Ashbrook (Gastonia, N.C.), rated four-stars by ESPNU, has pledged to North Carolina for the Class of 2011.Otis (6-foot-3, 205-pounds) picked the Heels over offers from Duke, Florida, Georgia Tech, LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina State, Virginia, Arkansas, Auburn, East Carolina, Illinois, Louisville and Maryland.
11/8/2010 9:56:56 AM
^ Dude must be dumber than Marvin Austin to turn down some of those schools to play for UNC given their current mess. And yeah, our recruiting is year is
11/8/2010 10:01:53 AM
The kid went to Ashbrook high school, which is where UNC's jay Boyd went.Gastonia is a central hub of UNC Walmarters. Any athletes capable of playing D-1 ball that grow up in that area are a lock for UNC.[Edited on November 8, 2010 at 11:46 AM. Reason : _]
11/8/2010 11:46:07 AM
I went to Ashbrook High School in Gastonia, and I can back up KInge21 being credible on this:
11/8/2010 1:18:08 PM
Gastonia is home to Kris Lang, enough said
11/8/2010 1:31:27 PM
11/8/2010 1:55:11 PM
Yeah Gastonia is a wasteland full of UNC Walmart fans. If I could blow up two places in the world first would be Chapel Hill, and second would be Gastonia. And my brother lives there, so that should show you how much disdain I have for that place. When people ask him where he's from he still says Charlotte. Thankfully he lives near Crowder's Mountain, which isn't that bad in comparison to the rest of Gastonia. James Worthy is from there too.I don't think we'll ever get a player from there. A player from Gastonia could have a scholarship offer from State and a walk-on offer from UNC, and he'd still choose UNC.
11/9/2010 4:49:54 PM
I was just browsing around our football recruit prospects list for next year.WTF?Please tell me we have a chance at some talent at some point? UNC already has a top 10 incoming football class (hopefully they'll bail when the NCAA hammer comes down), and we're sucking it up at 90th...What's up with that?
11/10/2010 4:28:21 PM
11/10/2010 5:04:56 PM
^^The idea of not doing HW really speaks to kids these days
11/10/2010 5:24:59 PM
11/15/2010 11:05:54 AM
seriously, what up with that?
11/15/2010 11:22:21 AM
everything is happy right now, recruits committing, UNC fans acting like Butch won't be firedbut don't kid yourselves, these kids will bolt when Davis is fired after the sanctions come down. There is no way the NCAA lets UNC get off lightly here.
11/15/2010 12:08:36 PM
hope so. I bet all these NC-based kids grew up UNC fans, and they're all still committing to UNC because that was their favorite team growing up. They're just following their heart to their dream school, even if they have major sanctions facing them. it will be interesting when the sanctions are announced. Will enough kids bolt that it won't really affect UNC's scholarship reduction penalty? Or will UNC be forced to turn recruits away? They've got 21 so far for c/o '11; 13 from NC.
11/15/2010 12:37:57 PM
unc still got a lot of talent when they sucked under bunting. dont see how the post-butch years will have a much different outlook - whether you have a postseason ban or not doesnt matter if you go 3-9 - so I wouldnt worry about who they get.
11/15/2010 12:57:01 PM
Any news on how Marquise Williams visit went this weekend?
11/15/2010 1:00:17 PM
^^ at this point, with only 8 commits, I'm worried about who WE get. I'd love to pick up 3-4 of their guys as a result of this investigation.
11/15/2010 2:17:30 PM
It's not a good sign when the highest rated commit is a 3-star punter. I am surprised we are ranked in the top 100. Luckily, it looks like there are a lot of highly ranked players still available. Maybe we can get a couple of those guys. Otherwise, this will be a completely wasted class.

11/15/2010 2:36:19 PM
looks like people in this thread are doing more recruiting research than tob
11/15/2010 2:39:00 PM
we don't have a ton of scholarships this year from what i recall. it's possible that some 2 or 3 star recruits are waiting to hear from 4 or 5 star recruits before they commit.

picked up commitments from McKay Frandsen (JUCO)http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=5285053andCarlos Gray (Oak Ridge, former UNC commit)http://alabama.scout.com/a.z?s=14&p=8&c=1&nid=4384977[Edited on November 15, 2010 at 10:11 PM. Reason : .]
11/15/2010 10:10:46 PM
I think Gray is an excellent pick up. He's got the size already to be a good run stuffing DT at 6'4" 321 lbs. Besides State, Gray had offers from Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee. Hopefully since UNC didn't want to re-recruit him, he'll want to destroy them every time we face them.McKay Frandsen appears to have originally been with BYU. Looks like a huge guy. He kind of reminds me of Audi Cole from a size standpoint. He's 6'3" 247 lbs. and runs the 40 in 4.8 secs.[Edited on November 15, 2010 at 10:55 PM. Reason : ]
11/15/2010 10:54:50 PM
Frandsen's at Snow College now...we got a good thing going w/ them it seems. Also, he left BYU to go on his Mormon mission so he's already an older guyTOB has done a good job with xfers/JUCO players so far and I'm glad we're picking up more guys like thatAlso dont mind a big DT like Gray that prepped a year and might have some extra motivation against unc [Edited on November 15, 2010 at 11:41 PM. Reason : we got Overgaard from Snow College]
11/15/2010 11:41:11 PM
nice pickups...we really needed some depth on the D-line.
11/16/2010 12:07:36 AM
11/16/2010 10:17:36 AM
^ Went well but still "firm" on his commitment to UNC.
