See, I'd prefer that Pizza Underground hadn't recorded anything and was just a touring comedy act.I haven't listened to any of it. Way more intriguing as a live thing not having heard the songs.
12/24/2013 4:05:28 PM
I haven't listened to them eitherbut I'd rather spend money on them than a run-of-the-mill cover band
12/24/2013 4:08:19 PM
On Saturday I found out that it's $8 to see a cover band at Tir Na Nog.WHAT!?
12/24/2013 4:31:15 PM
that's just disgusting

CHVRCHES moved to the Ritz. Does that venue still blow?
12/26/2013 1:57:58 PM
it will always blow, regardless of how many times they change the nameand I've seen two of the top ten shows I've ever seen there, but it still blew those nights
12/26/2013 2:05:49 PM
I'm interested in the fact that they moved CHVRCHES but not HAIM, even though HAIM sold out in like two hours.

Mobb Motherfucking Deep just announced an April 1st show at Kings.April Fools joke or not, I got a grip of tickets.]
12/26/2013 5:09:20 PM
my first show was at the ritz. saw the strokes there back in 2002 or something. jimmy fallon was one of the openers and basically played through that stupid record he put out around the same time. my friend and i got him to come out of his tour bus after the show and sign autographs thoughis that platform they added in the middle of the room still there? i didn't think the room sucked so much as that thing just obstructed your view
12/26/2013 6:25:34 PM
My first club show SHOULD'VE been Foo Fighters at the Ritz, but my mom wouldn't let us go because one of her coworkers said "The Ritz isn't a place for a 14 year old."So instead my first club show was Frank Black at the Cradle WITH MY MOM when I was 15.#goodtimes
12/26/2013 7:32:02 PM
^ my friends and i were 16 at the strokes show, and some girl bought one of my friends a beer. pretty hilarious in retrospect, yet also very wtf on her part
12/26/2013 9:31:48 PM
How the fuck are you people not more excited about Mobb Deep?]
12/26/2013 11:40:35 PM
You went to go see The Strokes at 16? I hate my life. They are #1 on my list of bands to see.
12/27/2013 10:15:42 AM
Museum Mouth / Hammer No More the Fingers / Ghostt Bllonde at King's was great tonight.[Edited on January 4, 2014 at 12:58 AM. Reason : f]

Weezer just announced a June 5th show at DPAC. Presale tickets go on sale tomorrow morning at 10am. I'll be there, but I think it's super lame it's a seated show and not at the PNC or some other place I could stand.
1/7/2014 8:53:12 PM
I've stood at every auditorium show I've ever attendedhell, it's usually encouraged by the bandand there's more of a chance of me being depressed at that show than happy
1/7/2014 9:19:46 PM
Yeah I mean I'm sure everyone will be standing, but I'm a wandering man mane. I like general admission/pits. I wish this show was at the Red Hat Amphitheater. Why are you thinking you'll be depressed?[Edited on January 7, 2014 at 9:49 PM. Reason : V nah i'll look into it]
1/7/2014 9:42:29 PM
you listened to post-Matt Sharp Weezer?
1/7/2014 9:46:53 PM
I was listening to Weezer on cassette tapes man.But I haven't listened to their last several albums. Not sure if I'll be attending yet.
1/8/2014 9:55:20 AM
Holy shit those are some expensive tickets. Got 3rd row at least[Edited on January 8, 2014 at 12:47 PM. Reason : looks like you can still get 3rd row?]
1/8/2014 12:37:49 PM
Real talk. It's been 12 years since the FIRST subpar Weezer album.
1/8/2014 4:56:10 PM
those ticket prices are absolutely insane
1/8/2014 4:57:39 PM
Yeah, that price made my decision much easier.OutKast reuniting and headling along with Arcade Fire and Muse:http://music-mix.ew.com/2014/01/08/coachella-2014-lineup-outkast/?hpt=hp_t3
1/9/2014 2:56:03 PM
How do you get presale tickets for Weezer? Is there just a code that I need or something?Ah okay, I found http://www.weezertix.comDamn, those are expensive.]
1/9/2014 3:29:22 PM
I just realized the Neutral Milk Hotel show is on Groundhog Day
1/9/2014 5:18:02 PM
I care about everyone on TWW enough to say DO NOT GO SEE WEEZER AT DPAC.
1/9/2014 8:22:30 PM
I've never seen them, and doubt I'd have another good opportunity. I am skeptical of DPAC as a concert venue, but I'm rationalizing that it's better than never getting a chance to see them live in any capacity. Guess I'll find out in June if I still feel that way.
1/9/2014 9:19:01 PM
^ this isn't exactly a good opportunity
1/9/2014 10:21:26 PM
ok, granted. i guess i meant "any". when is the last time they've played around here, 2002? yeah i'd much rather have been at that one but i wasn't there. if it turns out they play a show at red hat within a year of this DPAC show, then i'll probably regret it. otherwise, i'm looking at it as maybe my only chance to ever see them live.noticed both chvrches and future islands are playing coachella this year, pretty cool.
1/10/2014 11:05:55 AM
Anybody have the down-low on who's covering who at Kings?
1/10/2014 11:18:02 AM
I know who I'm doing, and a couple others, but I generally try to avoid finding out. It's more fun that way.
1/10/2014 1:19:31 PM
Com Truise @ Kings 3/11
1/10/2014 1:58:49 PM
Great Cover Up not being in December has thrown me off big time
1/10/2014 1:59:53 PM
Don't know if this is anybody's thing, but The Front Bottoms are playing in Charlotte on January 28th.
1/13/2014 8:33:57 PM
I dunno what that is but they're on Bar/None so they can't be all bad.
1/14/2014 12:25:59 AM
1/14/2014 7:01:17 AM
Weekday Charlotte shows are such a pain in the ass
1/14/2014 10:55:49 AM
The last time I saw Weezer was at Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte, right after their Pinkerton album came out. I doubt any show they put on today is better than what I saw back then. So I'll be passing on Weezer at DPAC.Bastille is coming to the Ritz May 15th. Any takers for that one?

this could be kinda coolhttp://www.avclub.com/article/merge-records-is-hosting-its-very-own-25th-anniver-106937
1/14/2014 8:28:00 PM
It'll be tragically cool, so cool it'll be uncomfortable. I'm waiting for more details.
1/14/2014 10:00:35 PM
what?
1/14/2014 10:20:55 PM
It'll likely be the only Magnetic Fields gig of 2014. So there's that.Conor Oberst closed the first night of Merge XX. WHOOPS.
1/14/2014 10:42:54 PM
it would be neat if arcade fire played as a sort of thank you show since it's my understanding they've outgrown merge. reflektor was apparently self released for the most part with merge's logo slapped on it
1/15/2014 6:35:35 PM
Reflektor went directly through a national distribution network instead of the normal Merge direct system. Not really different than any other drop ship operation. The number of copies of Reflektor that needed to be moved would fill the entire Merge warehouse.
1/15/2014 7:19:33 PM
ok yeah that actually sounds more like what i heard. in any case, it may have been their last merge release.
1/15/2014 7:22:03 PM
If Arcade Fire was at the Merge festival, I'd eat my hat.I can say that pretty confidently because it's laughable that it would happen.
1/16/2014 2:03:14 PM
You might have to eat your hat.For Merge XX, the 3Ds flew in, Mag Fields came for their only gig in 18 months, and Spoon played a club entirely too small for them, among other things. And Arcade Fire played the Carrboro Farmer's Market with the #1 record in the country.
