is there any particularly good reason that they can't add Bravia Sync to the original PS3 through a firmware update?

get a Nyko bluwave remote (~$10) and teach your Harmony remote the commands (you do have a Harmony, right?). Problem fixed.

Bravia Sync will not work with the old PS3s, they are using a newer HDMI controller in the PS3 Slim.

Bravia Sync is just a CEC, which has been in HDMI since 1.0. Regular PS3s use 1.3.

Or is the audio control from 1.3a really that important.

Is it worthwhile to get a PS3 if these are my reasons -

1. Want a Blu-Ray player
2. Enjoyed God of War and it's exclusive to PS3

Otherwise, I don't really know anything about the games offered on PS3 vs. XBox. I think the only reason I'd want XBox is Netflix streaming. Girlfriend has a Wii so that's not part of the equation.

I would enjoy having a blu-ray player - I still use the dvd player on my PS2 and have a nice 42" tv that could benefit from blu-ray's.

I would definitely buy GOWIII when it comes out, but don't know if I would buy many other games from what I know is out there right now, obviously that could change in the future.

If you're looking for must-have exclusives other than GOWIII, I thought Infamous was fantastic and, if Uncharted II is as much fun as I, that's a must-buy as well. Killzone 2 is really well done but that one seems to be love it or hate it. Same goes for the Resistance series. Of course, there is MGS4 as well. IMO, the system is really hitting full stride right now. Not a bad time to pull the trigger, as I don't see another price cut for a long time.

By the way, I like this idea of remastering old games in HD at a higher stable framerate. Should do it with the Team ICO games too. Although, I wish they were PSN releases rather than discs.

Argh, that new update didn't fix my sound problem.

Basically the menu tone doesn't work right when I use my optical cable. It's because the PS3 doesn't keep the optical port active constantly when you're in the XMB and there's a delay when it turns back on.
So if I keep switching menu items the first tone is silent but then it starts working.

So I updated to version 3.00, but for some reason my WiFi connection isn't working correctly. It can connect to my router and get an IP address, but wont connect to PSN. Anyone else seen this issue? I hope its just that PSN was down and not my WiFi thats hosed
