1/6/2009 7:03:55 PM

1/6/2009 10:18:26 PM
^^^I dunno about the D40, but that's ^ a good deal. Canon's better anyways [/bias]
1/6/2009 10:36:04 PM
^^That is a damned good deal.
1/7/2009 12:35:15 AM
man I wish I would have waited.. I got a D40 from there about 2 months ago on a good deal, but thats even better
1/7/2009 12:38:10 AM
Its raining. Its obviouslynot a DSLR though. One day.[Edited on January 7, 2009 at 8:56 AM. Reason : Ehh.. the more I look at it, the worse it looks. ]
1/7/2009 8:51:01 AM
was that your phone's camera?
1/7/2009 9:24:08 AM
pezking, nice shots. I can never seem to get my night shots that sharp, even of course with a tripod. Whats shutter speeds and iso on those? what focal length as well?I'm starting to really want a nicer wide lense for city stuff. My kit 18-55mm is crap. Shots with my 55-200mm VR are noticably sharper and have better contrast. I might also like something a bit wider than 18mm.. hrmmm
1/7/2009 9:36:20 AM
Well I got a tracking number, and it says they have shipped.... we'll see if the cards come in.
1/7/2009 11:21:26 AM
But dammit, I ordered my cards first [Edited on January 7, 2009 at 11:55 AM. Reason : Did you get expedited shipping?]
1/7/2009 11:50:00 AM
nope... standard us postal service said they shipped yesterday???
1/7/2009 1:59:44 PM
I also got an email today saying adorama shipped my cards. Now I'm waiting to buy like a shit ton of 120 film. Stupid expensive.
1/7/2009 4:46:06 PM
anyone else see that triple rainbow just now? It was only a double by the time i got to my cam, hopefully i got a few good ones
1/7/2009 5:24:25 PM
yeah i saw it...crazy! i took some pictures when it was a double
1/7/2009 5:25:57 PM
1/7/2009 5:32:27 PM
Nothing spectacular, just took some photos while I was out and about.
1/7/2009 5:47:40 PM
second one had some real potentialbut instead it lacks a subject
1/7/2009 5:57:19 PM
So? Who needs a clear focal point? Just jack the horizon about 30 degrees and there ya go... creativity!
1/7/2009 6:01:32 PM
Eh -- I just wanted to get the sky in the shots. Wasn't trying to be artistic. If you have suggestions I'm always open, but pointing and laughing won't help me.[Edited on January 7, 2009 at 6:10 PM. Reason : ]

the house is pretty underexposed, maybe try HDR? but not silly HDR.
1/7/2009 6:16:13 PM
As I understand it, shooting HDR requires:1) a tripod (in my trunk in the parking lot and I'm on the 2nd floor)2) an HDR program3) Knowledge of how to do HDR 4) Time and planning -- I was shooting these off my balcony as I was trying to fix some scuba gear. Saw the sky, ran inside, grabbed the camera, took some shots before the light was gone.Even though the apartments in that shot are a good ways away I popped up the on-board flash just to see what would happen. I'll post those results in a moment when another file is done uploading.
1/7/2009 6:20:43 PM
1/7/2009 6:21:31 PM
^ I like that. Here's the one with the flash.
1/7/2009 6:28:15 PM
I've got sky photos, too!I know the quality could be better, but it was taken through my windshield.
1/7/2009 6:53:54 PM
todays weather has been unreal...i was driving around then too if that was today...did you see the rainbow at meredith?
1/7/2009 6:55:40 PM
^that was taken today in Durham about 5:30pm
1/7/2009 7:55:36 PM
oh lol i thought that was hillsborough and blue ridge
1/7/2009 7:58:34 PM
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6Opinions on this software?
1/7/2009 8:58:08 PM
The south face of Half Dome and Mt. Starr King at 9000 ft near Orstrander Lake from a backcountry ski trip I took over New Years:The pictures are ovexposed--this was mostly an excersize in learning how to use GIMP to make a panorama. [Edited on January 7, 2009 at 9:46 PM. Reason : aldkfj]
1/7/2009 9:41:04 PM
A few from today;
1/7/2009 10:00:47 PM
Looks a little hazy, not over-exposed to me.
1/7/2009 10:00:57 PM
what is with the vignetting?i like a lot of those shotsbut reallywhats with the vignettingthere is no way thats in-camera
1/7/2009 10:02:18 PM
DON'T YOU GET IT, VIGNETTING IS THE HOT NEW THING
1/7/2009 10:06:06 PM
I'm obsessed with vignetting right now, just love the feel. I hope to get over it soon. wait, MY ART SUCKSyes I know the sunset on the boats with pier one has a crooked horizon
1/7/2009 10:06:43 PM
the grass photo you sold, it had vignetting, didn't it
1/7/2009 10:07:52 PM
I think you forgot the vignetting on one of them?[Edited on January 7, 2009 at 10:08 PM. Reason : the bird one]
1/7/2009 10:07:53 PM
it had extreme vignetting I LOVE IT

1/7/2009 10:13:18 PM
Post the original shots so we can see what the post processing did.
1/7/2009 10:18:30 PM
Party pics. Finally got around to processing them. My exposure was all over the place due to my unreliable batteries in my flash. I really need to order those eneloops. Nothing but a good magic in processing and noise reduction.
1/7/2009 10:30:19 PM
This is the shit that I still don't understand. Why the fucking stupid angle? Seriously?
1/7/2009 10:38:01 PM
crazy angle at a boring bird... And yes, I too want to bwn the white/black stripes She's a close friend, though.
1/7/2009 10:43:39 PM
I love the shot, interesting angle on a "boring" bird. Makes it new again!Yay photos!
1/7/2009 11:34:53 PM
lolz at those girls in the background. Warn them next time so they can point their good side to the camera and pucker their lips or something.
1/7/2009 11:43:37 PM
The angle just makes it worse IMHO.
1/7/2009 11:44:47 PM
1/7/2009 11:50:22 PM
Hey, at least when Kiwi posts new pics she's admitting up front to the cheesy gimmicks that we've been calling her out on for about the last 20 pages. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him (or her) drink.
1/8/2009 12:02:58 AM
She clearly understands it better than any of us do. I mean, she's shot weddings and sold a print, how are any of us supposed to know more than her?I mean, none of us have had photos make finals in a national competition, or had photos published in the Washington Post, or have taught courses at conventions across the country, or have had photography articles published in journalism education magazines, or have any amount of professional experience. She clearly doesn't want or need the help, so maybe we should just let her continue to produce amazing works.
