I was trying to see if this would provoke schools to let out early. Some of the buses run pretty late.
1/5/2017 8:29:58 AM
I seriously doubt it, but I could easily see a delay on Monday with the cold temps
1/5/2017 8:33:51 AM
If we get 4+, school will be out til at least Wednesday.
1/5/2017 8:41:06 AM
Yeah if we get as much snow as they are saying, that stuff aint melting anytime soon.
1/5/2017 8:44:34 AM
And here comes the warm nose

POST TEH SOURCE

Allan Huffman said that the NAM model is creeping a warm nose into Wake County. I swear...if we dont get the 4+ inches of snow....
1/5/2017 9:53:59 AM
cold....rain....
1/5/2017 10:14:25 AM
it begins
1/5/2017 10:15:12 AM
This is rinse and repeat each year, not sure why everyone falls victim to it. Models indicate something might be coming. 4-5 days before the event we're getting model runs of crazy amounts. Then 2-3 days before it's calmed down to something more reasonable but still exciting. Everyone gets all excited. Then the day before the whole thing starts trending the wrong way and our "really nice event" turns into "a dusting with sleet" and everyone is miserable.

because the majority of us are also NC State football/basketball fans....
1/5/2017 10:20:08 AM
Probably still a little early to take the NAM too seriously. Inside 24 hrs however...

My hopes are officially up. Sorry guys that want snow, not happening now.

1/5/2017 11:08:19 AM
we have a pretty big project at work that's weather dependent and actually reached out to Greg Fischel this morning. they're pretty certain we're going to get significant snow and it's going to freeze Monday. NC State will have reduced operations in some way if that tells you anything
1/5/2017 11:25:24 AM
1/5/2017 11:27:31 AM
Here come the mixing issues!
1/5/2017 11:56:00 AM
Warming temps in the models seems like it would just decrease snowfall and increase ice--but still snowfall. At least that's what I managed to scrape from AmericanWX. Or it's all ice and we die.
1/5/2017 12:06:19 PM
Not a lot of wind in this one should help people keep power.
1/5/2017 12:31:48 PM
Where is the snowpocalypse photoshop photo do need
1/5/2017 12:36:42 PM

1/5/2017 2:44:27 PM

1/5/2017 2:47:15 PM
^you
1/5/2017 2:51:22 PM
Ground temp is already 10 degrees cooler than from what it was yesterday at this time
1/5/2017 2:54:52 PM
Decided to check the AmericanWx forum just now. Latest NAM (yes, just one model) says get your umbrella ready Raleigh. You're getting your usual cold rain.
1/5/2017 3:27:08 PM
Yeah been reading Americanwx throughout the event. Looks good for us in GSO but Raleigh should transition over to snow fairly early. Warm nose may give way to sleet in RDU cutting down on overall totals
1/5/2017 3:35:38 PM
Yeah AmericanWX is almost unreadable because you have 50% of the people calling for the max amount of all snow and 50% of the people saying it's going to be rain with a little sleet. I'd hold off on paying attention to the NAM until at least tomorrow but a warm nose in Wake County(all the way down to Fayetteville per the most recent) would be pretty par for course.
1/5/2017 3:40:35 PM
Yeah AmericanWX is good for some information leading up to a storm but you gotta be real careful reading into what people are saying on there. 1 good model run and they are on top of the world and then 1 bad one they are all full of despair. In my experience around here watching this shit is if you have 1 model that shows snow and another that shows borderline temp or sleet/ZR issues it's probably going to end up being the latter.[Edited on January 5, 2017 at 3:58 PM. Reason : .]
1/5/2017 3:53:55 PM
I think I saw someone say this on there but at least the last four years or so take the model with the lowest amount of snow, cut it in half and be happy if that is what you end up with.
1/5/2017 4:01:38 PM
YOU GUYS ARE STARTING TO GRIND MY GEARS
1/5/2017 4:05:24 PM
? IT'S GONNA BE RAIN! ?[Edited on January 5, 2017 at 5:15 PM. Reason : JK]
1/5/2017 5:15:08 PM
Fucking sleet
1/5/2017 6:34:08 PM
The negative forecasts on AmericanWX are usually rightThe forecast has not been trending well for Raleigh, it's just going to be gross weather
