so the evo shift is only 800MHz, with a smaller screen, and fat as fuck....sign me up!
1/5/2011 11:39:39 AM
yup. looks like a quarter of overrated phones from HTC. I wanna see those LG phones. Looks like they ripped off touchwiz but maybe they'll update theirs faster. lol
1/5/2011 11:43:20 AM
is the evo the best android phone through sprint?will sprint have any new phones coming out in the near future that i should hold out for?i'm elligible for an upgrade next month
1/5/2011 11:48:28 AM
i'm very leery of lg products. i know they're supposed to be top of the line, but our dishwasher sucks and my env touch sucked. maybe i'm just too picky with my technology

Interesting how phones were on the way to minuscule, and now they're exploding again
1/5/2011 1:28:43 PM
that was before they became so adept at web browsing and other functions that function better with bigger screens
1/5/2011 2:21:25 PM
yeah now it's "let's slap a big ass screen on there and see how thin we can make it"
1/5/2011 2:27:26 PM
unless you're the evo shift apparently. hey-oh!

Honeycomb demo
1/5/2011 6:07:34 PM
I upgraded my Epic to 2.2.1 froyo and now all the apps try to run all the time even with an app killer and this is killing my battery. and its also slow as hell now since its running so many apps in the background. any suggestions on how to stop this?
1/5/2011 6:09:06 PM
That HDMI mirroring on the LG is pretty awesome, I'm skeptical it'll be for Verizon but I sure hope so
1/5/2011 6:50:06 PM
^^^That looks pretty badass. It says "redesigned for tablet" so does that mean there will be a version of Android specifically for tablets or will they be essentially the same OS as on the phone? Also, with some of those improvements in that video, I don't really see a need for Chrome OS anymore.
1/5/2011 7:22:21 PM
^^^ You'll probably want to look into downgrading back to 2.1. The way they talk, the froyo leak was really buggy. ^ not sure. Believe Honeycomb was supposed to be their tablet OS so they may just skip it and go to Ice Cream for mobile phones.
1/5/2011 7:27:37 PM
^^chrome OS has a very tight niche Looks like the Etna has been renamed the "Droid Bionic" will be the first LTE device on verizon from Moto in Q2also, that Atrix has my name on it.[Edited on January 5, 2011 at 7:50 PM. Reason : asd]

HTC better have something seriously up their sleeve with the thunderbolt to compete
1/5/2011 8:01:41 PM
Loaded the GummyJar 2.5 ROM onto the phone last night.Holy freakin' smokes, what a difference.

yeah I'm just droppin in here to say that I love my droid x. Its awesome, definitely better than blackberry. I have one issue, with the protective cover on the droid x, it won't fit in the desktop docking station I bought for it. I wonder if this means it won't fit in the car mount I bought for it either.
1/6/2011 11:07:44 AM
looks like the Honeycomb dual core rumor was about as true as Gingerbread requiring a 1GHz processor.http://androidandme.com/2011/01/news/android-news-news/minimum-android-3-0-hardware-requirement-rumor-gets-debunked/

Well that was rather uneventful. 4 handsets (first as early as march), Motorola zoom, lte galaxy tab and a couple LTE cards/hotspot.http://phandroid.com/2011/01/06/verizon-announces-4g-lte-handsets-and-tablets/

^ Having used BOTH, a LOT... there is no way I would say Sense > TouchWiz (not old TW).It's amazing how much more convenient TW is and looks are cleaner in my opinion.

What is the difference between the LG 2x Star and the LG Revolution, other than the carrier they are on?
1/6/2011 11:53:15 PM
Holy cow that Atrix looks amazing. I've clung to my sprint plan with a lot of fervor due to a TWW'er keeping it straight. But 4G in Fayetteville paired with that kind of hardware is just amazing.Sprint needs to get freaking data service on Hwy 24 and WiMax in the 'ville (not that I've seen a device yet that can hang 4G for more than a few hours.)
1/7/2011 12:00:50 AM
^Atrix is ATT, only which is making the claim that all their 3G network has been upgraded to HSPA+ ("4G")
1/7/2011 1:39:58 AM
1/7/2011 7:36:09 AM
and color me confused. All but 1 of the videos of the Revolution show stock Froyo but this one shows LG's faux-touchwiz and seems to be Bing'd out.
1/7/2011 8:13:11 AM
Looks like Verizon got screwed on this one
1/7/2011 9:19:18 AM
anyone have any input on custom ROMs? i was gonna wait to see if something baller got released within my 30 day window before heavily modifying my X, but since that's not happening, might as well pimp the shit out of it. i've been reading about different ones like gummyjar, apex, rubix, etc., with roughly 50% of posters on other forums going with apex, and the rest something else. i'm leaning towards apex, but i figured people close to my own age might help me decide better.
1/7/2011 9:27:30 AM
is it possible to enable different radio bands when in the US by flashing your phone with a custom rom/radio? for instance, I can get a tmobile g2 for not a lot and then I can flash it with an off the shelf desireZ US rom. will that enable me to use it on ATT 3g?
1/7/2011 9:38:30 AM
^^I have gummyjar and love it. Install was painfully simple.
1/7/2011 10:01:13 AM
^^ doubtful.
1/7/2011 11:02:28 AM
I just put the latest BB rom on mine and am pretty happy with it

^If only HTC made a battery for the HTC Droid Incredible....
1/7/2011 7:44:49 PM
^^^pretty sure the operating frequencies of the radio are a hardware limitation. ie. no amount of custom software will enable a tmob phone to suddenly work on AT&T 3G or vise versa, unless it is a device with the hardware radio built in and currently not being utilized.[Edited on January 7, 2011 at 9:02 PM. Reason : Sorry, looks like G2 actually does have the correct radios for AT&T 3G ]
1/7/2011 8:58:55 PM
Has the correct frequencies but it's probably locked to use tmobile 3G only. That's usually the case in most instances
1/7/2011 10:17:54 PM
1/8/2011 3:43:10 PM
yeah, all the gsm frequencies are there, just software masked in the US. i need someone's g2 to borrow
