interesting story. Lawrence Academy, the school of current commit Anthony Knight was going to play St. George's but St. George phoned in a forfeiture because most of the OL is like 170lbs i guess.
10/10/2010 2:44:21 PM
dunno why anyone cares
10/10/2010 3:43:30 PM
Who is going to be the place kicker after Josh graduates?
10/10/2010 5:51:49 PM
We are gonna be young at WR, our most productive ones so far this season are going to be gone (except TE), hate to have a bunch of freshman out there at WR.[Edited on October 10, 2010 at 9:58 PM. Reason : w]
10/10/2010 9:55:55 PM
We'll still have Graham, Jay Smith, & Stephen Howard as senior WRs next year, and rsSo Quinton Payton. And potentially Tobias Palmer, Tony Creecy, and Bryan Underwood.Bur we definitely need another tall & fast WR or two in '11.
10/10/2010 11:20:11 PM
^Agreed. Steckinger would be a good fit.
10/11/2010 8:07:55 AM
Yeah, but still, we will lack experience....this might be an issue if Wilson comes back as he will miss camp again. This year it did not matter because we have all the seniors and Wilson has played with them for years. Also, they did not exactly set the world on fire when they were freshman. Maybe we will get a couple that have the talent to start right away and be a real threat which is what we will need. It would be nice to get a WR about as tall as Gannon...http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=4434456I doubt he leaves the date of Florida though.[Edited on October 11, 2010 at 10:03 AM. Steckinger
10/11/2010 10:15:01 AM
i don't have premium but aren't we still in it for Kelvin Benjamin, 4*, 6'6" from FL?
10/11/2010 10:15:49 AM
That Steckinger video was pretty damn impressive.
10/11/2010 10:24:49 AM
agreed, that kid is also pretty big. looks like a college kid already, great hands. looks like he is also fast, great route runner. goes to show that a guy who can run a good route can really fool the cb or safety on him.
10/11/2010 10:27:32 AM
Stanton Seckinger (not Steckinger) is a funny name. Hope we land him.
10/11/2010 10:28:33 AM
he needs to go ahead and commit to us and not put up with that "greyshirt" bullshit that Clemson is offering him. Besides, Clemson already has two WR commits in the c/o '11.
10/11/2010 10:34:33 AM
so I was just browsing Scouts website and noticed some guys we have our hooks in that I havent seen mentioned in this thread. Was wondering if any of you guys with more recruiting knowledge than me had any idea where we sit with them. Keep in mind, these are just people I found who have us listed on their interested list - which I know doesnt hold a lot of water around hereIshaq Williams, 4-star DE from Brooklyn, NYMike Rose, 3-star De from Simpsonville, SCNorkeithus Otis, 4-star DE from Gastonia, NCKelvin Benjamin, 4-star WR from Belle Grade, FLCurtis Grant, 5-star LB from Richmond, VaSteven Daniels, 4-star LB from Cincinnati, OHStephone Anthony, 4-star LB (I think someone mentioned him a couple pages back)Dondi Kirby, 4-star Safety from Monroeville, Pa
10/11/2010 12:49:23 PM
Stephone Anthony has been mentioned quite a bit, Scout actually has him a 5-star, #3 LB in the country, he's the top recruit out of NC. I haven't heard of the others, but I don't follow fb recruiting all that closely.edit: oy yeah, there was an PP article a week or two ago saying that Anthony "was taking notice" of State's strong start. fwiw.[Edited on October 11, 2010 at 2:53 PM. I think Anthony is a slight lean to UF. He's supposedly went there this past weekend on a 2nd unofficial. He visited us for VT. If we keep winning it will only help of course, but not sure if we get some of these guys. The only LB we lose is Irving. We'd have.firstteam/secondteamManning/MaddoxLucas/?Cole/CuretonCureton doesn't play that much so i don't know how a 5* dude couldn't come in and immediately get on the 2 deep. So you'd think we could get a decent LB in this class, if not two.where we're really going to need help is at:DE and DT but DE especially.Akinniy, Lemon and Augustin will all be gone.I think Rieskamp is the only one returning with starting exp, kuhn could, but he's more DT now[Edited on October 11, 2010 at 3:00 PM. Even for as tall as Seckinger is he has some fucking long armsHe better not go to Clemson over us. Their idiot coaches will waste his talent[Edited on October 11, 2010 at 3:02 PM. Reason : /\ dont forget the xfer from Syracuse]
10/11/2010 3:01:26 PM
excellent catch, forgot about that dude, and he's good
10/11/2010 3:07:25 PM
damn, I hope we land that Seckinger kid, he looks like he has glue on his hands. He kinda reminds me of Riley Cooper.Hopefully he sees the success our WRs have been having and knows that he could be the next in line
10/11/2010 3:17:37 PM
Cureton is a senior, so he's gone next year. I think we see Manning/Maddox/Cole for a veteran starting lineup.Lucas will be in the regular rotation. EJ Carter is the Syracuse transfer. Hans Rice and Ryan Cheek will both be redshirt sophomores and should break into the two-deep. Plus Colby Jackson switched to LB and he will be a redshirt junior.
10/11/2010 3:27:32 PM
Have heard that Carter is very, very good.
10/11/2010 3:49:26 PM
^Yes. He will make an impact immediately.
10/11/2010 4:19:09 PM
Marquise Williams (UNC Commit/Soft Verbal now) has scheduled an official visit for us on 11/12. hahahaa UNC fans were already a little nervous he visited UMich this past weekend.
10/11/2010 10:58:45 PM
10/11/2010 11:29:09 PM
^^ I hope Marquise realizes the shitstorm going at UNC and goes somewhere else. Even if he doesn't come here, I want to see UNC's recruiting suffer. At least we've already got Brian Taylor coming.Since Marquise compares his game to Vince Young, I'm not sure how he would do in a Rich Rodriguez offense, Pat White/Denard Robinson style. Looks like he is headed up to Va Tech this weekend for an official visit.
10/12/2010 9:32:15 AM
woohoo, more good news
10/12/2010 11:02:40 AM
^That story got deleted, I clicked on it to read it and then it was gone. Probably just didn't mean to run it yet.
10/12/2010 1:17:15 PM
10/12/2010 8:28:03 PM
lol... soft... lol
10/13/2010 1:25:46 AM
yeah I was going to make a joke about how they were soft verbals only when looking at girls, but I decided it was a poor idea.
10/13/2010 2:11:42 AM
bump: can someone with access give the gist of the Stephone Anthony article up on PP. I have a feeling he's just saying we're moving up, but wanted to confirm.
10/14/2010 9:50:45 AM
so how good does our season need to be before we start getting real attention/traction with the top targeted recruits? 8-4? 9-3? Gator Bowl? Beat our key recruiting rivals: UNC, Clemson, & FSU?
10/14/2010 10:14:04 AM
Gator bowl is no longer associated with the ACC anymore after the contract ran out last year. They hated "the Maryland rule" and didn't want to keep taking teams like BC that no one wants so they bounced.[Edited on October 14, 2010 at 10:18 AM. Reason : an ACCCG appearance would help recruiting immensely though]
10/14/2010 10:17:43 AM
The gist of the Anthony news is that the Clemson Rivals page reported a top 3 of: VT, State, Clemson. (in that order)Then the PP article came out saying he was down to a top 6: Florida, VT, Clemsom, Georgia, State, UNC. (in no particular order)He'll announce in January, so we just gotta keep winning.
10/14/2010 10:21:22 AM
^ thanks a ton
10/14/2010 10:23:10 AM
Well, we just need to win out, beat VT in the ACCCG, and hope we face Florida in the Orange Bowl(I don't even know if this is possible with the current bowl tie ins/set up) and beat them too. We will then have a victory over all of the other teams in that Top 6 except for Georgia, of course.
10/14/2010 1:06:36 PM
IF we won the ACCCG, i don't know what in the HELL i'd do until we played in the bowl game. probably take a leave of absence from work, leave the country and come back around game time
10/14/2010 1:20:47 PM
10/14/2010 4:01:40 PM
Dont know about you guys but this is news to me, i didn't think we had a chance with Travis Hughes.
10/20/2010 5:34:58 PM
guy on PP said we're getting official visits from him and Blake Countess
10/20/2010 5:48:57 PM
I wonder which recruits we're having for the FSU game. It's probably tough to host out-of-town players on a school night.
10/27/2010 12:21:49 PM
From the FSU thread
10/28/2010 10:05:16 AM
anyone see any recruits at the game?
10/29/2010 9:56:26 AM
Travis Hughes was scheduled to be there per Scouthttp://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=9&c=6&yr=2011
10/29/2010 10:12:40 AM
heard Vad Lee was there (although he is a GT commit)
10/29/2010 10:39:53 AM
^^ i think Hughes is a visitor this weekend, not sure if he was supposed to actually be at the game
10/29/2010 10:45:14 AM
totally forgot yesterday was thursday
10/29/2010 10:46:03 AM
the bright side of our small class right now is theres plenty of room to get on the bandwagonwe should be picking up some more commits in the near future, right?
10/29/2010 1:49:28 PM
umm....i think everyone just has their fingers crossed HOPING that's what happens
10/29/2010 1:51:45 PM
yea...there's some indication that we're getting back into the picture with some guys because of how well we're playing, but it hasn't actually paid off yetw/o the on the field success things would be looking pretty bleak right now. losing mccollum really hurt from a recruiting standpoint (though given what Tenuta has done for us I'd make that trade every time) and if we don't get Stephone Anthony it's likely we'll be shut out of the Top 30 in state prospects
