page 95!I'm now at 140! my original goal was 145. I started at around 160.I've only been doing cardio for the past couple of months, running and watching my calories and eating healthy.I think it's time I add in strength training and working with weights.
10/13/2011 11:25:40 AM
also, how the hell are you guys keeping under 100g carbs/day?I eat a lot of grapefruit and bananas and cover 100g on fruit alone.
10/13/2011 11:35:58 AM
What's your bench now?I am curious to see how it progresses with all this work aerobic/cardio-ish work you are doing.
10/13/2011 11:53:33 AM
not sure. prob 205 max
10/13/2011 11:58:10 AM
i know you're probably talking more to the boys about this but i stopped logging calories, carbs, protein, etc. i know it's different for everyone and if you have a specific goal in mind (to be a hot ripped piece of ass so you can ask out your crush) then i can see how staying within a specific carb range would be important. i found it's easier if i just focus on eating the right kind of foods and trusting that everything will balance out on its own.
10/13/2011 1:00:26 PM
if you're trying to go under 100g/daydont eat bananas and grapefruitsbam. solved.
10/13/2011 1:09:10 PM
meh, not worth it imo. Grapefruit is the bomb and an excellent fat burner. I guess ill just stick to 200g like normal
10/13/2011 1:16:05 PM
An excellent fat burner? wtf are you talking about?
10/13/2011 1:35:23 PM
lol
10/13/2011 1:45:44 PM
grapefruit dude. best fruit ever invented by God
10/13/2011 1:46:12 PM
grapefruit does not burn fat. That's just an old myth. It's definitely healthy, but it is not an "excellent fat burner" http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/the-grapefruit-diethttp://health.howstuffworks.com/wellness/food-nutrition/natural-foods/natural-weight-loss-food-grapefruit-ga.htmhttp://www.livestrong.com/article/73512-grapefruit-burns-fat/]
10/13/2011 1:49:40 PM
ill believe it when i see it written on the internet
10/13/2011 1:50:45 PM
Why are you trying to get super cut to impress a girl at Christmas? Are you just going to find excuses to take your shirt off? Trying to lose significant weight during football season is a fool's errand. Just be happy to maintain while most people are packing on the pounds for the Holidays.
10/13/2011 2:17:00 PM
I'll bet you 5 laftabucks you probably read somewhere on the internet that grapefruit is an excellent fat burner..... but if it says the opposite then it must be false! that said, my grandma and her twin brother each ate a grapefruit every morning for most of their adult lives and they lived to be 95 (they both smoked like chimneys and drank like sailors) ]
10/13/2011 2:17:04 PM
^^hahahah!
10/13/2011 4:20:28 PM
I'd imagine that most people in this thread would agree that it's time for a 2012 thread. 2011's fitness season is over people. SF seems to get it

10/13/2011 5:40:23 PM
I'd be interested in a mass gain challenge, then a subsequent spring lean competition.
10/13/2011 9:21:03 PM
hehthe first part of that would be funbut it's the cutting part that id be sure to suck ass at(obv)

In Florida, it's bathing suit season year-round. More motivation to stay in shape.
10/14/2011 11:02:33 AM
I want to stay in shape because wedding showers and pictures are starting in December and I don't want to be a fatty
10/14/2011 11:15:02 AM
Oh wow! This will be a busy holiday season for ya. The holidays are always so hectic ... then throw wedding parties into the mix. Whew! But def good motivation to stay fit. You'll need high energy levels!
10/14/2011 11:20:48 AM
Dharney - You are not in a calorie deficit if you are gaining weight. Unless you are just retaining water like a mofo... If that's the cause look to reduce sodium and/or stress. Stress increases cortisol which causes water retention. Look to improve sleep and reduce training volume.Jbrick - Depends on your definition of being in shape. Mass gains allow me to push heavier weights. Then I work to maintain the strength when I cut. Resulting in new strength levels at lower body weights. Seems to work for me, but I am sure there's a few successful ways to go about it.
10/14/2011 11:44:02 AM
My goals aren't being bigger and/or stronger. I want to stay lean, be in good cardio shape, and still look good...even in the middle of the holidaysTherefore, I have no reason for "gains" in the winter.
10/14/2011 11:46:50 AM
unrelated, but watching people use wrist straps to do non weighted pull ups is fucking lolthis seems to be a trend at my gymi dont care how jacked you are, but if you're having to strap up to do your first set of 5 non-weighted pull ups, you're doing something wrongalso, a local lingerie shop had set up a stand in the lobby yesterday. that was weird.[Edited on October 14, 2011 at 12:03 PM. ^^ I never claimed that Florida is the most fit. We have a lot of overweight folks. But there are a lot of bodybuilding and fitness professionals here. We have tons of statistics on obesity from state to state ... and fitness by state is based on a complicated matrix involving gyms, trails, parks, smoking, cancer, etc. However, most people I know lose weight when they move here from other states. It's just so warm most of the time that the heat can be a bit of an appetite suppressant.

Got the go ahead today - Officially going to start eliminating FODMAPs I will continue baking for other people though I'm kinda nervous to test for my yellow belt.. We have to test in front of everyone, and I think there will be a bunch of kids there. Those little a-holes aren't very friendly. -.-
10/14/2011 5:35:15 PM
Yellow belt!!!!

When he says mass gain, I think he means muscle. Obviously, you're going to get a little fat in there too, but the idea is to be strength training and getting big gains that way. Now, if your idea of mass gaining is sitting on the couch and eating 4,000 calories a day, yeah, you'll gain a lot. Somehow, though, I don't think it's going to be the kind of mass you want, and when it comes time to cut, you're going to be fighting an uphill battle.

10/15/2011 1:14:30 AM
^^I wasnt speaking for myself. I dont gain body fat.
10/15/2011 8:38:20 AM
(dont weigh enough)
10/15/2011 9:21:42 AM
I'm working out, but why is it when I work out really hard, my feel pressure in my inner ears? Anyone else get this? Does it go away when your body is accustomed to working out?
10/15/2011 2:43:33 PM
one of my gym's fitness instructors didn't show up today, so I taught 2 cardioboxing classes on the fly and in my vibrams (I teach yoga/pilates before the other classes) my feet/legs are sore and I'm pooped
10/15/2011 5:00:06 PM
Whoa. That's nuts by itself ... but in Vibrams? Whew. You're a good woman.
10/15/2011 6:00:34 PM
Day 2 of this FODMAPs stuff and I think my bloat is going down... So it's kind of exciting but holy hell would i do bad things for some honey right now
10/16/2011 11:11:56 AM
Can you have agave nectar? I keep the light amber one in the house and now use it instead of honey or syrup. It's really good.
10/16/2011 11:49:52 AM
Nope :/No honey, agave nectar, anything ending in -ol, brown sugar, molasses, coconut milk (I think), and a bunch of the synthetic sweeteners. Cane sugar is ok though
10/16/2011 12:15:36 PM
No truvia either?Truvia isn't exactly an artificial sweetener but it's also natural because it comes from a plant. Have you tried googling alternatives?[Edited on October 16, 2011 at 12:27 PM. Reason : More]
10/16/2011 12:25:44 PM
Oh, truvia and stevia are fine. It's not really about alternatives as much as its looking at the fructose to glucose ratioTable sugar has like a 1:1 ratio, a bunch of the other ones don't though
10/16/2011 12:38:26 PM
i havent stepped foot in a gym in like a month >.< but i ave been watching my caloric intake and trying to run about 2x a weekheres where i am as of this weekendi think my thighs have gone down a LOT, although i havent measure them.im going by aesthetics alone and the way my pants fit.ill post a few more later.they have kinda a lot of skin though but oh well o[Edited on October 17, 2011 at 11:23 AM.
