getting blamed for things that are not my fault.if I screw something up I have no problem taking the blame. When I do my job correctly and then someone else blames something on me, that is annoying.

boss tells me to go figure out why the sump pumps don't work right and the pit floods even after they put in new level switches. go ask the planner, who informs me that they switches haven't been wired up yet.

Today we had a meeting on how duties will get handled while I'm on maternity leave. Apparently they were under the impression they would just hire some temp off the street and didn't take into consideration most of my job duties take at least two months to train on. Now they're asking me if I can do some "light" duties while on maternity leave

The office sends an email to the every employee making some kinda announcement. My supervisor then forwards me the email. This happens constantly filling up my inbox.
10/29/2012 11:42:33 AM
^ lol our HR rep does that shit all the time.
10/29/2012 12:01:41 PM
Same here. It gets even more ridiculous when someone sends out an email to lots of people *and I am in the original distribution by name* and I still get it forwarded to me by someone saying something like "thought you might like to see this."I know with large emails sometimes it's going out to a group or everyone in BCC'd (even then, you should know it's an email that everyone is getting), but when you can look at the list of recipients and see my name, why are you forwarding it to me? we got the bad liquid nitrogen bottle again and shit has been whistling all morning. we can bleed it off sometimes to stop it for awhile, but the pressure builder kicks in and makes it go off again.also, I hate when Chinese papers have lab results that directly go against papers with field results. shit is annoying and I don't know who to trust.

I don't like when everyone around the office uses "verbiage" to simply mean wording. Up until I got into the working world, verbiage was always viewed as being a BAD thing. Basically equivalent to fluff or verbosity. Now at work everyone says stuff like "add some verbiage to this document about blah blah."

^^^^He is a manager but not my direct manager. He was also hesitant to train another (mid-twenties, married) worker to use particularly harsh chemicals in the lab because "you know she'll be pregnant with a year". She's not actually planning on getting pregnant but it would have been inappropriate of him to ask. ^^OH YEAH I CAN'T HELP MYSELF[Edited on October 30, 2012 at 11:40 AM. Reason : ^^]

This is the 4th desk move where they've put me at a left-handed cube. Luckily I didn't know the difference.^Can't you decline and propose a new time? That way the invite is still valid...as opposed to them having to do up a whole new one.[Edited on October 30, 2012 at 11:51 PM. Reason : a]

Doing some contract work for a major firm and I need to log-on to their online system to access documents...Unfortunately their system isn't compatible with Firefox. Only works with IE Version 7 and up...of course I have a Mac. Call them up and they give me an allowance to purchase a laptop at Best Buy and get newest version of Office.Get back to the office and try and log into system...isn't compatible with Windows 10. Been on the line with Tech Support for the past half an hour. Waiting to hear back from their IT Manager in a few minutes. How fucking hard is it to develop these programs that are compatible with new shit??
11/5/2012 12:57:09 PM
^lol, I don't have quite that trouble, maybe 1/10th of it, but annoying as shit.

I also thought I was going to be at the office for only an hour to set this bitch up, print some shit off, and get back to the house and do work. So I only put in enough quarters for an hour at the meter...Of course I lost track of time dealing with tech support and now I have a $14 ticket.

I hate it when Goldenrod is always trying to say stuff in that prissy voice. He's all like "The odds of successfully navigating and asteroid field are less than 3023 to 1" so I'm like "never tell me the odds"Then when we make it through alive does he appreciate it? No. Then he starts cockblocking me talking about how he managed to complete this one unimportant thing while I'm trying to have a private conversation with my boss the princess.

Pretty sure the AC is on in here... it's pretty cold. And that's not an easy thing to do, as my comfortable operating range is quite large...
11/9/2012 8:56:41 AM
^Do you sit in an interior portion of the building? If so, it's highly likely you sit in an area with no heat period that serves your actual area.
11/9/2012 9:04:33 AM
^yeh, but there are ceiling vents all throughout the area, inlcuding 4 within 10' of my cube
11/9/2012 9:06:35 AM
Right, but that doesn't mean that you have any heat, that just means you are getting air from the main system. Cooling is done back at the main unit and then heating is done locally in boxes above the ceiling just before the ceiling diffusers over your head. However, most buildings only have heat on the exterior zones (areas within 10' or so of exterior walls and windows) since that is where heat is lost. Thus the diffusers serving interior areas like where you sit don't have any heat in them. There is also a minimum amount of outside air that spaces have to get at all occupied times due to code (in other words, commercial units don't typically turn on/off like our house units do). This overrules thermostat set points. So, this time of year if the internal box doesn't have heat, you sometimes get into the situation in early mornings where the unit is forced to pull in outside air (and the air is very cold), it mixes with the return air and is then delivered to the space with no heat added so it tends to feel a little cooler than normal. It's not really the "AC" being on as much as it is not having heat. What some buildings do is they put re-heat on the interior boxes as well solely to prevent subcooling (what you are probably experiencing) due to these minimum outside air requirements. But, that costs more money upfront when designing and constructing a building and it costs more to operate so it often does not get implemented or used.[Edited on November 9, 2012 at 9:15 AM. eh, maybe far beyond my HVAC knowledge. I do know that during winter, these people set the thermostat on hell and burn me out of here.

11/9/2012 9:30:02 AM
^^ just letting you know how it probably works in your building. Plus, if you ever have to call the facilities guys about temperature in the winter you'll understand more about how it's (most likely) set up there.

Why are you calling me about this?"Random person: "You need to come and unlock conference room A."Me: "Well, I don't have the keys for the building but I can give you the phone number of the facilities manager."Random person: "WHY WON'T YOU COME UNLOCK THE DOOR " ::hangs up::Me:
