if you hate it that much, then why wouldn't you turn it off? unless your wife is making you watch it, which seems to be a lot of people's excuses for watching a show that they absolutely hate (then getting on the internet and telling people how much they hate it). i think this was my favorite episode since it came back[Edited on March 3, 2014 at 9:15 AM. never did i say i hated it. in fact, i don't think i've ever expressed hatred towards this show. I just feel like the Lost approach to story telling and episode structure is too little too late for a show this far into it's run. And i'm probably in the minority of fans in that Daryl isn't all that interesting to me. the turn off comment mostly stemmed from the fact that i got home late and was too tired to devote my brain to True Detective, instead thinking TWD would offer an hour of some decent suspense and a little more background on the newest sanctuary. Wrong week to assume that.
3/3/2014 9:39:17 AM
Fair enough. Other posters sure are making it clear they hate it. But keep watching and keep bitching. Because of their wife.
3/3/2014 9:55:05 AM
I liked getting a bit of back story on Darryl, and I like the contrasts between their coping mechanisms. Darryl is a mean drunk though.I wonder how many of the characters think about T-Dogg.
3/3/2014 10:19:29 AM
I don't hate it. I don't complain about it much, but like last season, I got really tired of the plot going nowhere.Take Breaking Bad for example. In its entire run, I can only think of one show they devoted to character development, and that was the episode with the fly in the lab. And the character development was actually character development, not giving us a backstory that we already knew.
3/3/2014 11:49:03 AM
We didn't know Daryl's background. Or Michonne's.
3/3/2014 12:09:02 PM
Michonne's background reveal was a surprise, but Darryl's? You mean to tell me that Darryl was a white trash vagrant? No way.
3/3/2014 1:22:49 PM
we didn't know. i know it's not too surprising, but he hadn't revealed much of anything about his background. would you rather have it been something outlandish, like he shot apples off chick's heads with a bow and arrow in a traveling circus?

I think in any apocalyptic scenario, some people would destroy/burn shit down just for the hell of itthink Trash Can Man
3/3/2014 2:27:47 PM
Teenage me would love to set fires with no consequence. Adult me would worry that he'd be caught between a forest fire and zombie horde.
3/3/2014 4:42:58 PM
That must've been some weak moonshine
3/3/2014 6:05:10 PM
speaking of Trash Can Man, where da nuclear zombies at?!
3/3/2014 9:20:54 PM
I must be the only one who thought this episode was great. Daryl's spiel about the house with the "chair for sittin, the bucket for chaw...'" was spot on. The shifting relationship between Daryl and Beth can make for some interesting future episodes. The culmination at the end with The Mountain Goats (they're from Durham you know) song playing while they burned down the house was incredible.

Also commenting about his love for The Mountain Goats/Darnielle
3/5/2014 12:45:34 PM
^^ Yeah...I figured all the Mountain Goats fans would know that stuff. I only mentioned it for those who might not have been familiar with them in case they wanted to hear more.

past two episodes were completely useless.

halfway through the episode. Beth's reaction to the moonshine was like she just drank some water. Seriously? Its like it didn't even phase her. Your first drink of moonshine and it doesn't even phase you to the point where you down the entire shot in your next gulp? Holy hell...come on now.My only real complaint about the episode so far. Oh, and the fact that they can find multiple houses yet chose to stay in the trunk of a car.
3/8/2014 8:43:13 AM
Best scene was when Daryl was yelling and pissing in the house
3/8/2014 10:49:46 AM
lol the actress who plays Beth is 28 too. I think the character is supposed to be 14. They should have just given her real moonshine.
3/8/2014 4:10:30 PM
^No way the character is 14. During the never have I ever game she said shes watched her friends play that game. I doubt she was hanging around with 14 year olds that sit back and drink on the weekends. Darryl also called her a "college bitch"...I'd say shes 18+
3/8/2014 4:12:29 PM
she was supposedly 16 when she was on the farm, so she's supposedly about 18 now (if the show occurs in real time).
3/8/2014 5:26:06 PM
^Yep 16 on the farm, but no way this occurs in real time. Couldn't have been at the prison more than 6 months.Plus looking at this half-season, all the episodes since it came back 4-5 weeks ago has shown basically the progress of <1 week of time.[Edited on March 9, 2014 at 9:18 AM. Reason : .]

Can somebody PM me if today's episode is worth watching?
3/9/2014 6:10:36 PM
Did Daryl just meet the hunters?
3/9/2014 10:04:22 PM
Probably.
3/10/2014 12:39:25 AM
wonder whose car took off from the funeral home
3/10/2014 12:53:12 AM
I like the more nomadic/struggling feeling in the past few episodes, but I dint buy Darryl just opening the door like that..
3/10/2014 2:02:49 AM
^Esp. when you could see a head through the crack in the door, not sure how he could have thought that was just a dog.Did notice the car that took Beth had a cross on the back glass, couple of ideas on who that could be.Definitely a better episode than last week's(I enjoyed the 3-4 minute back-story on Bob more than I did last week's entire episode).
3/10/2014 8:33:08 AM
I noticed that all the shots of the pig feet eatin' were off camera.
3/10/2014 9:08:43 AM
lol @ Daryl, the expert tracker and huntsman... who completely didn't see/hear the car until it was speeding off.Why was Maggie just taking a nap on all those dead zombies? Was she just playing dead maybe while a horde went by? That's the only reasonable thing I could think she was doing. That building that what's-her-face was in was right there -- so if Maggie needed to rest or take a break or something, that was the obvious choice.[Edited on March 10, 2014 at 9:26 AM. Reason : ]

3/10/2014 9:30:14 AM
^^Maggie said in the episode that she was looking for 1 walker so she could leave another message for Glenn, but when she went looking for one she saw a whole bunch. Think she was "playing dead" hoping that they'd move on and then she'd be able to get back on the road. She also said that she was planning on staying there for a bit and waiting on them to catch up, so not sure how long she was there or how long she planned on sticking around and waiting.
3/10/2014 9:33:10 AM
terminus might be where they find their saviorsbut I hope not
3/10/2014 9:41:04 AM
I just think they would be rushing things a bit.
3/10/2014 9:42:40 AM
yeah I think so tooplus the car had a cross on it, maybe it was a good person, like a pastor or somethingI dunno
3/10/2014 9:54:30 AM
yea. more than likely a pastor.
3/10/2014 9:59:55 AM
http://io9.com/oh-my-god-why-isnt-this-michonne-from-the-walking-dead-1538976908Michonne for president 'cause she a strong woman who ain't need no man to help her kill walkers.
3/10/2014 10:03:46 AM
Darryl opening the door just all nonchalantly really ticked me off. there was no reason to have let his guard down thinking "oh, it's just the dog again". both him and Beth should have been more on-point since they were in danger of someone or someones returning for the fresh stash of food. and wouldn't he have heard all the noise the walkers were making before opening the door?
3/10/2014 11:03:41 AM
Why would a pastor kidnap Beth? Unless you mean like some kind of crazy religious nut pastor or something? That's kind of assuming a lot from just a cross on the back of a car though.
3/10/2014 11:13:53 AM
Maybe she white-girl-tripped running away from the zombies, got knocked unconscious, and the good pastor who's probably been living in that house found her and saved her
3/10/2014 12:42:58 PM
^Except I believe a genuinely "good" person would have stopped when they heard Daryl yelling for her by name, or at least attempted to help in some capacity.
3/10/2014 2:07:48 PM
zombies all over...pretty girl...some rough looking guy with a crossbow...I'd buy a story that someone just thought it would be a good idea to get out of there and either didn't hear him or had to assume he's not a "good guy"
3/10/2014 2:43:47 PM
So why wouldn't Beth just tell the driver "Hey wait up, my friend is coming. He's cool."(I guess she could have tripped or something. People get knocked unconscious in these types of shows way too easily)[Edited on March 10, 2014 at 4:25 PM. Reason : ]
3/10/2014 4:24:13 PM
Pretty sure I'd have 4 zombies with no jaws or arms chained up walking around with me the day after the whole prison debacle. No reason for people to be walking around alone/virtually unprotected when everyone has been taught by Michonne how to completely camouflage themselves from walkers. *facepalm*
3/11/2014 1:11:54 AM
I guess I should get the comics for this instead of watching. I just fast forward through these episodes to the parts where it looks like they are doing something. All the character development scenes are insipid.
3/11/2014 1:36:59 AM
^Would definitely encourage you to read the comics then, much better pacing and more plot/action/less filler.Sunday's episode was better than the "Beth's First Booze" episode, but this 2nd half of the season is really moving at an incredibly slow pace. Probably just the writers trying to make everyone that complained about the Prison story being "boring" or wanting them back out on the road regret bitching.
