Awesome news about Pittman, hopefully we'll build up even more recruiting momentum with some W's. and

Wow more good news for the Pack. Glad to get another solid recruit.[Edited on September 3, 2010 at 4:14 PM. Reason : vb]

Name: Brandon PittmanHometown: Raleigh, North CarolinaSchool: Leesville Road High SchoolPosition: OLBHeight: 6'2"Weight: 200 lbs40 time: 4.54Scout Bio: As a junior, his first as a starter, playing weak-side outside linebacker in a 4-3 scheme, he ended the season with 89 tackles, a sack, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions. He returned one of his picks for a touchdown.
9/3/2010 4:19:01 PM
Not that I'm not stoked that he chose to come and play for the Pack, but...Why are we so happy about it?
9/3/2010 4:39:47 PM
I'm happy anytime we get a local commit. I don't care what their stars or rankings are...anything to add fuel to the rivalries.
9/3/2010 4:54:35 PM
I am happy that this guy chose us over two of our main rivals - Wake and ECU plus another team that we play regularly in UVA. We have to start winning some recruiting battles against our primary opponents if we ever hope to land big time recruits.
9/3/2010 5:04:00 PM
welcome aboard.sweet. i too like hearing we pick up local guys. it's nothing against out of towner's either. i always thought it was cool as crap that i played football 30 mins from Baker; heck, i was one year from being responsible for stopping T.A. on the other side of the ball (not that i would have had a lot of success, but hey, i could have tried right).
9/3/2010 5:39:38 PM
you couldve just waited for the spin move and picked up the fumbles
9/3/2010 9:58:21 PM
7 posts about a new commit. record?
9/3/2010 11:07:16 PM
^^ ba-zing... dude was a beast till he started gettin hurt, shame how it all ended up
9/4/2010 2:33:03 AM
could be a long shot, but wonder if we could pursue DT recruit Shawn Underwood from UNC as a result of John Blake resigning. At this point we have no linemen committed yet, so Shawn would be a solid 3* local pick-up.
9/6/2010 12:58:00 PM
OG/DT Ben Bradley is supposed to decide soon, most likely between State and West Virginia.I would like to pick up Chris Manns. He may not be rated high, but he has all the measurables to make a good run stuffing DT at 6-2 305 lbs.Hopefully we can also pick up OT Lamont Hardy. He's massive at 6-5 375 lbs. Another linemen we have a good shot at is OG Stephen Grommer. I imagine he'd have to have a year or two in a college weight program though before he'd be able to contribute. Besides State, he has offers from Maryland, ECU, and WCU.[Edited on September 6, 2010 at 1:12 PM. Reason : ]

yeah i like it when we are able to pick up solid local recruits as well. if the fuckers have talent and we have a scholarship open, then def. go for the in state talent. i hate seeing descent local talent getting plucked out of teh state left and right by other programs.
9/7/2010 1:24:13 AM
I, too, hope we can land Manns. I'm from Winston, and his high school (Mt. Tabor) always has a strong team. I believe they won the 4-A state championship his sophomore year. It looks like we're in good shape with Grommer. I'd be surprised if we didn't get him.

Ben Bradley committed to West Virginia Wednesday
9/10/2010 11:16:16 AM
Keith Marshall from Millbrook got a 5* rating from scout. I don't remember seeing any 5* players from Raleigh before, am I wrong?

is he SEC bound or a unc fan?

I wonder if we have any local recuits attending tonight's game. I can understand it can be difficult to get out-of-town, much less out-of-state, recruits to a game on a school night.Plus they have their high school games tomorrow night, so they'll have practice this afternoon.
9/16/2010 10:51:51 AM
^^^ Thought to be SEC bound. And since we have a stable of young talent at RB, not sure how much we're really putting into recruiting him. (Lost cause + not really a position of need)
9/16/2010 11:43:41 AM
Stephen Grommer committed to Maryland
9/20/2010 2:33:18 PM
Stephone Anthony (5* LB, #1 player in NC) is now "noticing our 3-0 start" per wolfpacker.com. So far, the only thing UNC-CH fans are hanging their hat on is recruiting. If we got this dude and the 4* from Floria (Harrell), what a dagger that'd be right in their black hearts.
9/21/2010 8:04:17 AM
Add to that BMFD getting fired, and let's get em
9/21/2010 12:13:06 PM
Any recruit that is seriously considering playing for UNC has got to be a damn moron that does not understand the implications of this on going NCAA investigation. Why else who someone potentially agree to play football at UNC versus a similar school knowing that UNC will likely have post season ban, less scholarships, and most of the coaching staff fired.[Edited on September 21, 2010 at 12:33 PM. 9/21/2010 12:32:47 PM
UNC's recruits are buying into Davis' bullshit just like Miami's recruits did when he skipped town. He's a master bullshitter and these kids and their families are buying it all.
9/21/2010 1:07:18 PM
I think they just want to get in on the cash and prizes.
9/21/2010 1:09:59 PM
9/21/2010 1:36:25 PM
hopefully this start will result in some commitments soon....
9/27/2010 10:41:00 AM
ALOT of BIG recruits (Bball as well) should be on hand this weekend. It is going to be a big weekend.
9/27/2010 12:14:36 PM
Should be a great atmosphere for them Saturday ^ Do you know what prospects are scheduled to be here? Is there a list on PP somewhere?[Edited on September 27, 2010 at 12:43 PM. Reason : .]

i know tyler harris (bball) is supposed to visit
9/27/2010 1:10:25 PM
We've offered Willie Young's little brother, who is supposedly better than he was at the same age, although he's a prototypical 6-5 270lb JUNIOR OT
9/28/2010 1:19:50 PM
In the scout article they said he was 6-6 285lbs, had a 7 foot wingspan and ran the 40 in 4.97...jesus fucking christ.

^yeah. That goes exactly with the rummblings that I heard. I want Anthony.
9/29/2010 9:37:18 AM
This kid looks great. He avg. 14+ yds/rush last year and i can see why, he's big and fast.Commit: Tony Knightvideo:http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/2/1007005.html
9/29/2010 10:24:11 AM
^^^ That goes with the rumblings I heard, as well. Of course, the source of the rumblings I heard is Matt Carter, editor for The Wolfpacker website on the Rivals.com network.[Edited on September 29, 2010 at 10:43 AM. Reason : ]

^2 yeah but I don't see anything really SPECIAL about him. Look at the difference here....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ork3esBQTG8This is a video of Mustafa last year in HS. I can see ALOT of good things here about his decision making ability. He also shows off his great downhill running technique.I just don't see much. Yeah he is fast and big. But I need to see more video of him in traffic for him to sell me at RB. How are his hands? He would be a SCARY return man.
9/29/2010 10:53:17 AM
^ not trying to get into a pointless arg or anything, but watching those two videos i see one thing that does stand out about Tony and that's he's got more speed than Mustafa. I also saw him make "decisions" and they were usually the North-South kind that TOB loves. Tony just looked like he ran by guys as opposed to have to make them miss. The Mustafa video you provided though just shows though how special this kid is gonna be once he gets comfortable. I posted somewhere else that a move he made on Saturday was so quick, elusive and powerful that I don't remember the last time we had a running back who ran like that.
9/29/2010 11:20:42 AM
^I feel ya. I'm just sayin what I saw. Knight is fast.
9/29/2010 11:37:04 AM
You really can't argue with Knight's productivity, he just ran for 300 yards on 15 carries last weekend but Rivals had a scathing evaluation where they said that basically he's not fast enough to play running back and he's not big enough to play fullback. When evaluating his speed it's important to keep in mind that he's playing against terrible competition in Massachusetts, while Greene was playing against pretty good competition in SC.
9/29/2010 12:58:56 PM
that's what i was wondering re: competition, however, its claimed that he's been tested many times in the 4.4 range.i just read about it, the ISL, and while the league, overall, that Knight plays in isn't strong top to bottom, according to people familiar with Massachusetts football says that Lawrence Academy is one of the best teams in the state and this team already has 4 d1 prospects signed and could end up with 8.1 to NCSU, 2 to Iowa, 1 to BC with maybe another to follow.[Edited on September 29, 2010 at 1:23 PM. 9/29/2010 1:24:49 PM
He didn't come off incredibly fast in that video...his competition looked pretty slow. Greene looked quicker and faster in his video...he just had more people to get by before he was in the secondary. I thought Mustafa's highlights looked great.
