if i hadn't ordered the stuff last week, i definitely would have ordered some stuff from kate spade. who doesn't love kate spade i got the girls these really pretty (well i think they are) clutches that are more on the formal end so they can use them for nice dinners, going out, events, etc. and then i got them a pair of matching earrings to wear the day of the wedding and then these fun note cards that reminded me of them

Im getting my girls custom converses to wear to the reception
6/4/2012 8:05:12 PM

I am my cousin's maid of honor this weekend. She didn't want showers or a major bachelorette party, though I am kidnapping her this weekend and taking her with her bridesmaids and friends for bowling/dinner/drinks/dancing after the rehearsal on Friday afternoon. Wedding is on Sunday. She really doesn't want to do the penis accessory/super drunk thing. I am getting her a sash/tiara to at least embarrass her a little bit, and made her a silly bouquet for her rehearsal. And I have a speech planned for the ceremony, as well as plans to attend to her on the wedding day to get her where she needs to be, keep her fed, etc. And I have an emergency kit with sewing stuff, safety pins, cosmetics, etc. Anything I am missing in terms of what I could do for her this weekend? I feel so lacking in that she hasn't asked me (or let me; I have offered) to do very much, but she is a very low-key person.
6/5/2012 9:51:18 PM
One thing my friends in Bham did for my friend and I when they threw us a joint bachelorette party was to make sashes that had unexpected things on them. Mine said "Your Mom" and Lauren's said "Hey Girl, Hey" - they were in glitter and had rhinestones. So, if she wants something away from the ordinary I would definitely suggest that
6/5/2012 10:24:59 PM
^^ I did a very low-key bachelorette partyand that's exactly what I wantedthey got me a sash and boa, but otherwise we just went out and had a great timeso I wouldn't do anything other than what you've already done
6/5/2012 10:52:36 PM
That is kind of what I was thinking. I know she really doesn't want a big show, and I don't want to make her do anything she doesn't want to do just because I feel like I should. But I also don't want to miss out on any of my "duties" or any quirky things I could spring on her that she may not be expecting. I haven't been to that many weddings, and I've never been MOH before, so I don't know if there are any particular things I'm not in the loop on here. Good to know I am not totally missing the boat though.

I was matron of honor in a BFFs wedding this past weekend. Instead of carrying flowers, we had a simple wrist corsage and a Couch clutch to carry down the aisle.
6/7/2012 4:15:45 PM
6/7/2012 4:33:49 PM
I dont understand the clutch. I find it distracting. Your dress is pretty though!
6/7/2012 4:36:22 PM
I like that dress!
6/7/2012 4:36:29 PM
i love your mom's couch purseit's warm and snug and i like to put my boan in it
6/7/2012 4:52:41 PM
Gotta love typos. I appreciated the (COACH) clutch idea rather than flowers. The bride's a purse girl, so it made it more personal for her and doubled as part of our gift.
6/7/2012 5:27:11 PM
you look beautiful!!! i love that color dress on you.i had my bridal portraits this week - i am excited to see the edited photos. i should be getting them either today or tomorrow! 3 weeks to go. wohoo! i'm ready to be done with this!

6/8/2012 3:37:25 PM
question - for those that got married in Wake County, when did you get your marriage license?
6/11/2012 9:12:45 AM
Well we were oddballs but we got ours a couple months before the actual wedding because finding a time we could both make it over there to get the document was a bitch and I needed health insurance, so we got it about a week before we went over to the courthouse and got secret married. You've got up to 60 days between when you buy it and when it expires.
6/11/2012 9:32:55 AM
like, midmorning on the thursday before and there was no line.do the online part first, you can be in and out.it was shockingly easy that that's all it took.
6/11/2012 1:00:13 PM
picking music is "fun"....i swear it is.especially that first dance song haha
6/11/2012 1:21:03 PM
lol i am so not motivated to do our music and we need to have everything done by next week. what was your first song? or will be your first song?
6/11/2012 1:51:12 PM
We did Feist's "1234" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABYnqp-bxvg which if anyone bothered to listen to more than the first two lines of that song they'd probably be like "wtf " but no one does and we wanted a really short song Runner up was Ingrid Michaelson's "The Way I Am" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJOzdLwvTHA
6/11/2012 2:00:55 PM
Cassie, we've narrowed it down to 4 contenders...but of course this could change. So I'm not going to tell you any of them since we really have no idea just yet
6/11/2012 2:50:47 PM
i'm not looking to steal songs Nick. you goob. i'm just curious. we've had a particularly hard time finding something we both like. we found a song so uber 80s cheesy that it makes us laugh but the song has a pretty good meaning behind it. i just wish i could find someone else who redid the song so it's not so ZOMG 80s!
6/11/2012 2:52:14 PM
haha what song is it because right now I have popping into my head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIgZ7gMze7A

Our first song was "Question" by the Old 97s

6/13/2012 3:42:57 PM
yeah, she's really good about keeping costs reasonable. as far as pies...nobody actually enjoys wedding cake (at least we don't), so we thought it would be neat. we're also making a pie plate for the "bride and groom" pie and that'll be what we keep rather than hoarding cake in our freezer for a year. it's gonna be fun to make a pie for our anniversary.we just need to figure out alcohol costs. we're doing 3 pony kegs of local beers (our first date was a Triangle Brewery tour) and wine and sangria.[Edited on June 13, 2012 at 3:56 PM. Reason : ]
6/13/2012 3:53:03 PM
We had pies and cobbler at our wedding and people loved it. I'm jealous you'll have NCSU ice cream!!
6/13/2012 4:06:16 PM
6/13/2012 4:09:53 PM
Damn, that's a nice down payment on a house.
6/13/2012 4:18:25 PM
luckily, we already have a house. the venue was really the only thing that made things as expensive as they are. her sister is in a wheelchair (severe disability), so we had to find a very accessible venue. most places aren't since they are listed as "historic" sites and don't have to comply with accessibility requirements. we would have had it at the Mordecai House for $600 for the day, but there were some M.F.'ing stairs! there was also this cool place called Het Landhuis that would have been awesome.
6/13/2012 4:23:36 PM
where's your venue?
6/13/2012 4:26:48 PM
The Oaks at Salem. It's in Apex. http://www.lusterstudios.com/oaks-salem-wedding-venue-apex/http://theoaksatsalem.com/
6/13/2012 4:38:34 PM
The owner of that place is super sweet.
6/13/2012 4:42:32 PM
None of those costs are really unreasonable. The only thing I did a double take on was the wedding dress, and the florist cost![Edited on June 13, 2012 at 5:23 PM. Reason : That venue looks gorgeous.]
6/13/2012 5:23:19 PM
I'm the best man in my bro's wedding. I have to make a speech. It's this Friday. Not excited
6/13/2012 5:47:40 PM
Oh yeah, the lady who owns Oaks at Salem is wonderful. That home is wonderful as well - I would love to live there.. haha.We wanted to choose them, but couldn't do the expense.
6/13/2012 9:22:04 PM
Yeah, April's really cool. Her husband is a State grad (CE), so that helped with the decision too.
6/13/2012 9:51:26 PM
shoe shopping this morning!
6/16/2012 7:14:36 AM
Yay! I have 2 weeks to go this week I have to get my hair done (way overdue for color), drop my dress off for a final fitting, get our marriage license, finalize the music (just waiting on his mother to freaking give us the damn song she wants ), and do the programs.
6/16/2012 4:09:30 PM
6/16/2012 4:20:18 PM
HALP! I need a veil for my wedding dress.. PM me your email address for photos. Also, need shoes. I have a $150 gift card to Saks I wanna spend, but I can't find anything there that I like with the dress.
6/19/2012 1:52:17 AM
