Stephen Rivers to LSU

unless Michael Vick comes back to VT anytime soon i don't know how a VT fan can feel safe
8/6/2010 4:00:04 PM
^^ Damn that sucks. Can't blame him for wanting to go to a top-10 program though.
8/6/2010 4:01:20 PM
they aren't exactly the top 10 material that they were a few years ago. But I catch your drift.I wouldn't want to follow my brother's footsteps either. Feeling like the fans would expect you to be Philip every game.[Edited on August 6, 2010 at 4:10 PM. Reason : ]

They were a top 10 team when Saban was there. Not so sure Miles is going to be able to maintain thier prestige[Edited on August 6, 2010 at 6:18 PM. Reason : And before you say he won a NC, so did Coker. Miles may not last out the season there]

Doesn't matter what happens down the road, but currently it is still a top 10 program in the country. Look at recruiting classes, record over the past 5 years, 10 years, bowl wins, 2 NC? whatever else. Top 5? No, but name 10 that are more prestigious at the moment.

1) it's bleacher report, why would you ever read that tripe?2) signing day is 6 months away3) prepare to overreact, immediately
8/7/2010 8:28:54 PM
We dont have anyone signed to actively recruit fellow players like we did with crisp and glennon....not fucked yet, but not doing well.
8/7/2010 8:53:44 PM
i understand what you're saying about rivers coming here, and i think it's true. also, if i didn't go here, i would for sure go to play at LSU instead of here. HOWEVER, LSU expects to win every game.

quarterback Vad Lee from Durham Hillside had originally planned on a verbal Saturday at Hillside’s scrimmage. Instead he visited Wake Forest Saturday us today. Word is he tried to commit to GT but Paul said no unless he canceled his other visits. Durham sources say the kid will not go that far from home and sign with State but GT sources are supremely confident on a GT commitment. He should be decided in the next couple of weeks. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Vad-Lee-93570

I'll never understand why anyone would read BleacherReport.

^^ You are using a 2 year window to back up your argument.. during that time they had some off field issues at QB which obviously affected their team and recruiting, if Ryan Perrilloux doesn't get kicked off the team who knows what happens. They've had top 10 recruiting classes during that time so it isn't like the recruiting matched a drop on the field, they are still putting together recruiting classes that only top 10 programs can put together. Not to mention if they beat Penn St. last year in their bowl game which they really should have they would have finished last year in the top 10. I'd agree with you if their recruiting classes started to look like ours, but that simply isn't the case. You sound like a 4th grader that has no concept of time. "The top 10 edge they USE to have..." it was just 3 seasons ago they won a national championship. Acting like they are Notre Dame and nobody they are recruiting was alive to see their NC. I guess a few though to you is 2? Once again, name 10 programs you'd put ahead of them.
8/9/2010 11:25:53 AM
In no particular order:FloridaTexasOhio St.USCOklahomaAlabamaVirginia TechPenn StateIowaBoise StateRight now, these programs are who I'd rank ahead of LSU, based on the last two seasons and heading into the upcoming season. They have had and still have a top-10 "edge" to them which, to me, means any one of them either have contended and/or could contend for the title.Yeah, recruiting is important. But UCLA has had monster recruiting classes recently too. Would you consider them a top-10 program? You think Boise State gives a shit about recruiting rankings? How about Florida winning the basketball championship in '06 and '07? Are they still a top 10 b-ball program or have they fallen off since then?
8/9/2010 1:00:35 PM
I think you're having trouble discerning between the terms "top 10 team" and "top 10 program"
8/9/2010 1:28:41 PM
^^ Done with it, I could write an essay and back it up with why LSU is a top 10 program(the ONLY thing your backing your claim up with is basically 1 down season, and once again last year there were a fringe top 10 team and would have been if they beat Penn St). And once again if they prize QB doesn't flake out who knows what happens. Obviously recruiting classes isn't the only thing, but if you are talking top 10 program you have to look at everything, recruiting, record, bowls, conference, etc.

right, because there is a ton of relevant recruiting info to discuss.

i don't know why there's so much anti LSU going on in this thread, but LSU is fucking legit.
8/9/2010 3:32:50 PM
^It's not anti LSU, it's pro UNC for their season opener
8/9/2010 9:45:31 PM

^^ yea, well, call me when there's some fucking news on that end
8/10/2010 6:36:58 AM
why is our recruiting so awful. someone give me the 3 condensed reasons without using the words "suck", "lose", or "shit".
8/10/2010 8:24:38 AM
^1. We haven't had any recent success.2. TOB has the personality of a wall and has never been a great recruiter.3. We haven't had many players go the NFL in the past few years so our only recruiting pitch is fuhcilities.
8/10/2010 9:30:11 AM
^ you suck at life.
8/10/2010 10:55:29 AM
^ What did I post that is incorrect ass hat.
8/10/2010 11:13:52 AM
In spite of our lackluster record, I am still a little puzzled at our slow start with recruiting this year.
8/10/2010 2:03:55 PM
Maurice Morgan has reportedly committed to State.
8/11/2010 10:39:01 AM
^nice, it's been too long since the last commitment.
8/11/2010 10:46:03 AM
Pound for pound, Maurice Morgan from North Lenoir High in La Grange, N.C., is one of the best athletes in the 2011 recruiting class. At a Shrine Bowl combine in May, Morgan checked in at 6-foot-2, 212 pounds and blistered a 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds.
