i've thought about it since its cheaper than a normal new game, but i already have the bigs, and it seems the biggest advantage to power pros is stat keeping and franchise modes, which dont really matter to me much with a baseball game.

IGN reports on a recent article from The Nikkei Business Daily. After speaking to a number of software houses on the future of the Wii, The Business Daily reveals that several developers, preferring to stay anonymous, expressed concerns over the longevity of the system, and were hesitant to develop games in the event of the Wii's popularity dropping suddenly.Several houses perceive the motion-sensing Wii as a fad, and believe its success to be ending shortly. This could possibly be in response to the Wii's sales in Japan, which The Nikkei Business Daily reports are at their lowest point since late last year. Several developers also blamed Nintendo for their hesitancy, claiming that the company puts third-party developers at a disadvantage while ensuring the success of first-party titles. It remains to be seen if any of this Wii fear is justifiable, although a lack of third-party confidence is never a good sign for a console manufacturer.
10/11/2007 2:13:49 PM
Sales probably aren't as high in Japan because everyone already has one. And its no wonder that the third party companies aren't doing as well, all the third party games (Except maybe 1 or 2) Wii games are either mini-game compilations, are just plain horrible, or both. And once Smash comes out (February ), the Wii will be a lot more "secured" in the market.
10/11/2007 2:43:08 PM
^yeah, really.I'd buy more 3rd-party titles on the Wii if developers actually made decent games. I'm not going to buy crap just because it's on the shelf.
10/11/2007 2:59:34 PM
Smash Brothers + Monster Hunter 3 = Will secure the Japanese market
10/11/2007 3:07:11 PM
The problem it seems with the third party developers is that they just take an already existing game or simple idea, throw in some waggle, and think "Hey people will like this because it uses waggle!" They need to look at the successful games that Nintendo has made and how they implement the controls. Twilight Princess, MP3, Strikers, all use a very good mixture of buttons and motion sensing. It seems like the third party developers just try and cram as much control into the motion sensing as possible, often end up programming it poorly, and thus it isn't received well.
10/11/2007 3:20:48 PM
Wii Fit will have a weight limit of 300 lbs..Nintendo says "No Fatties"
10/11/2007 3:25:55 PM
if it was a fad, it would have started to die downpeople that have had one since day one would not still be excited about new games coming out
10/11/2007 4:15:13 PM
It's not going to die out for me anytime soon. I've bought more games for the Wii than any other system I've owned, and about half of those aren't first party games.
10/11/2007 5:35:12 PM
Mario Kart Wii supports 12-player races.
10/11/2007 8:32:52 PM
I personally can't wait till umbrella chronicles comes out

^ are you shitting me??
10/12/2007 12:13:53 AM
it is a smart move by Nintendo..sucks for us though
10/12/2007 12:14:57 AM
nope, brawl was pushedi am pretty excited about getting one of these in a few months, i've had my eye on one since they came out, lol
10/12/2007 8:30:52 AM
^^I haven't been keeping up. Why would pushing a game release beyond the holiday shopping season be a good move for Nintendo?
10/12/2007 8:37:48 AM
they are saying that the wii is losing steam, and it's a fadit seems to me that people are already scrambling to get them for the holidays anyway, so pushing it out to feb/march would cause another spike in purchases
10/12/2007 8:44:11 AM
^^Nintendo has already stated that they don't have enough systems to meet the demand for the holidays. A game like Smash bros. would move a lot of systems, so it's best to wait until after the holidays when sales would normally slow down to release it and send them soaring again.
10/12/2007 9:39:31 AM
^that is a very good hypothesis. That could be why they are pushing it til after christmas. Melee was the best selling game on the gamecube, yes not mario, and they know that inventories will already be low for Christmas. I see what they did there.
10/12/2007 9:43:04 AM
ugh i want mario kart to come out now

10/12/2007 7:50:46 PM
^^ where did you copy that list from? Pretty shitty site if you ask me for missingResident Evil: umbrella chronicles November 13th Wii Fit is in Q1 as well.
10/12/2007 10:53:38 PM
so i'm hoping (probably pointlessly) that since I will be a year behind the release of this system, I can pick up some decent games at eb/gamestop used and slightly cheaper than dropping $50 for a bunch of year old gameswhat are my chances?
10/15/2007 9:04:34 AM
you could also go to toys'r'us since they have a buy 2 video games get any 3rd free deal going on right now[Edited on October 15, 2007 at 10:01 AM. Reason : .]
10/15/2007 10:01:15 AM
well yeah, but i'm not confident i'll get onei'm being as cheap as possible and waiting till xmas for someone to give me one, ha!
10/15/2007 10:09:28 AM
I hadn't seen this mentioned, but Neo Geo is on our VC now.
10/15/2007 5:52:24 PM
can you check out on the website what games are eligible for the buy 2 get 1 free? are they all on the website?
10/16/2007 11:59:07 PM
the Neo Geo addition is great.Battalion Wars 2 is my next pick up, and I am glad is still 2 weeks away. Sadly, we'll need another friend code thread for that too. damnit. Lego Star Wars may be a must if reviews are solid, but it be hard to buy with Galaxy. Can't really convince the better half on 2 Wii games in a day. Or can i?
10/17/2007 12:14:58 AM
The Simpson's Game Link's Crossbow Training
10/17/2007 6:01:37 PM
Wii Zapper + Ghosterbusters = please god.
10/17/2007 6:20:13 PM
how much u think people are still paying for wiis? are they still going pretty high or is that gonna change?
10/17/2007 11:42:02 PM
I fucking hate those marketing schemes nintendo uses. Girl/guy, young/old, someone always over the players shoulder all excited, racial/cultural, like watching a corporate video. Ugh.
10/18/2007 7:52:15 AM
^ Yeah they really should just show a bunch of white frat boy types playing it alone and looking bored.
10/18/2007 8:10:46 AM
10/18/2007 9:26:39 AM
^^^^There are enough in the market that it's not worth buying 10 and trying to make a profit on ebay
10/18/2007 11:01:42 AM
Rampage is actually awesome drunk.
10/21/2007 10:01:26 PM
Zack & Wiki got an 9.0 from IGN and an 8.5 from Gamespot. Both sites say the game could only be done on Wii and it's only $40, so definitely worth checking out.
10/22/2007 10:05:34 PM
yea it looks like it might be fun. if you've ever played an adventure game like king's quest and had somebody "playing" with you, offering suggestions as you go, then you might be interested in the way they implement other controllers. 1 person controls movement, but all the other controllers can draw on the screen to offer suggestions. beats pointing at the screen, and could provide some fun interactivity with friends rather than just having them watch you play a single player game.my dad, my sister, and i use to play games like day of the tentacle, king's quest, and monkey island together way back when i was little. i'm thinkin about gettin this and reliving the past.
10/22/2007 10:53:05 PM
i got my controller skin things today, those are way more hardcore than i was expecting.
10/23/2007 3:55:38 AM
There is a new boxing game out for the Wii, I can't remember the name of it but I would like to try it out. Supposedly you get a real work out from playing it.
10/23/2007 9:54:19 AM
So IGN says the release day for Z&W is today. Does that mean it ships today or that I can actually buy it today? I guess I really just asking if ppl have seen it in stores yet.

So are any places selling Zack and Wiki around here yet? Best Buy doesn't have it and Walmart has some guy who can hardly say the word "electronics" answering the phone.
10/24/2007 8:24:37 PM
10/25/2007 9:16:04 AM
I read that most Gamestops received 3 at most (if they received it at all). WalMart, Target, and BB have all received some at select stores. Raleigh doesn't appear to be one of they lucky places though.
10/25/2007 12:30:40 PM
Best Buy at Crabtree had four copies of Zach & Wiki.
