The CW9 is a very nice pistol. They are quality. The takedown lever edge should be reduced a bit for comfort. It's rather sharp from the factory.
11/10/2010 7:30:03 PM
i assume you're talking about the slide release. the cw9 doesn't have a takedown lever.

im in the market for a riflewould I be well served waiting for the dixie show coming up or would I get the same deals elsewhere and not have to wait? I dunno how prices are out there.
11/12/2010 10:08:50 PM
what kind of rifle? what caliber? If you're in the market for an AR-15 I would find one online somewhere and order it. If you're looking for a bolt gun, then you could probably find one there depending on the caliber you wanted it in.[Edited on November 13, 2010 at 12:10 AM. Reason : more]
11/13/2010 12:08:45 AM
.308 .270 or 30-06
11/13/2010 12:25:27 AM
Then I'd say you're probably going to find something unless you're particular about what features you want on it. I'm not as knowledgeable on bolt guns as I am on AR-15s so maybe someone else can tell you what to expect price wise.[Edited on November 13, 2010 at 12:30 AM. Reason : lol, I pretty much didn't help you at all. sorry dude. :-)]

^^Marlin XS7 in .308 is a GREAT gun for the money. You can get them for like $270 or so at Bass Pro, and mine did wayyyyyy sub MOA at 100yrds with a good scope. I had the rifle, a Nikon BDC, and a set of rings, and had just a hair over $400 in it.

anybody in the market for a used pickup truck?http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2010/11/15/1840143/fla-dealership-offers-free-ak.html

This may be a dumb question, but I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to gun law. My dad wants to give me a couple of guns at thanksgiving. If I pick them up and bring them home I'll be transporting them across 2 state lines (NC to GA) and I'm 99% sure they aren't registered or anything. I realize that gun laws vary state by state, but should I look into making any prior arrangements in order to transport them legally? Its just a couple of 12gages, a 410, and a little 22 rifle.
11/15/2010 10:52:44 PM
Make sure they are unloaded. Put them in the trunk. Good to go.
11/15/2010 10:55:46 PM
^^pretty sure that none of those states have gun registration... so...
11/16/2010 8:38:15 AM
If he gives them to you then you own them. You can transport your own guns across state lines.I'm pretty sure none of those states require gun registration. Some states have different rules regarding transporting firearms. Generally you should be fine with just keeping them unloaded in the trunk/cargo area. Gun cases are a good idea.
11/16/2010 11:24:54 AM
cool, thanks for the heads up. I have a regular cab full size pickup, I guess I'll just have to lay them on the seat for the drive back.
11/16/2010 6:24:49 PM
put them in soft cases behind the seat
11/16/2010 8:51:34 PM
Gun show coming up this weekend at the fairgrounds, who's goin?
11/19/2010 10:01:22 AM
^I'm going with my dad. Not looking for anything in particular though. Maybe some ammo.
11/19/2010 8:21:28 PM
yeah I'm lookin for 9mm ammo; and possibly a second pistol (to use as conceal carry pistol) and holster for said pistol. However, if I see a baller deal on a M4, I might be pickin one up.
11/19/2010 8:29:24 PM
I'll be going to the gun show... Trying to pick up a couple magazines for my G27. If an LCP or Ruger MKIII are available at an awesome price, I'd be inclined to purchase, but I doubt to find what I seek I saw a DWM Luger 9mm for sale at Davis the other day. [WANT][Edited on November 19, 2010 at 9:13 PM. Reason : .]
11/19/2010 9:12:21 PM
11/19/2010 10:43:54 PM
^^ don't know about the lcp, but you'll see plenty of keltecs and plenty of rugers (in the mk line). Just make sure you shop around because I saw a good 50 dollar difference b/w the rugers around the show (I bought mine there and saved a good $75+ fees from what I would have paid at a shop here)
11/20/2010 8:10:08 AM
I'm probably gonna kick myself later for not jumping on it, but I talked a guy down to $250 cash OTD for a Ruger mkiii with the 4.75" barrel. Also saw 2 booths that offered new glock 23 (3rd gen) for $500 cash OTD. LCP was $300 OTD. Kinda wish I got that ruger, but I got a couple G23 mags and a 31 rnd .40 mag for a great deal.
11/20/2010 11:07:50 AM
I bought a FAL from a guy walking around. DSA scope mount, DSA railed handguard + original, and a folding stock. All for $1000.I'm going back today to find some bulk .308 and a couple mags if possible.
11/21/2010 12:46:02 PM
if that is in any good condition, that is a good deal you got yourself on that FAL^^yeah, you might should have jumped on that ruger... I love mine because I can shoot it all day and spend only 20 bucks (whereas with even my next cheapest gun, the 9mm, I am breaking the bank on my afternoons out on my friends land)
11/22/2010 6:49:42 PM
Have been out of the buying / selling market for a while and might be interested in selling my AK. How is the field looking these days?
11/22/2010 6:58:30 PM
not good... I'll do ya a favor and give you a 100 bucks for it- cash- tonight
11/22/2010 7:04:49 PM
$75
11/23/2010 7:42:11 AM
$50!
11/23/2010 9:03:12 AM
^^ What variant is your AK and who built it? That will play a significant role in how much it will go for.
11/23/2010 9:34:54 AM
as far as I know, they have held steady to what they were
11/23/2010 10:58:41 AM
^^ It is an Arsenal side folder in 7.62x39 that has been gone over / tweaked a bit by Jim Fuller at Rifle Dynamics. Gray metal surfaces with green furniture, a Jim Fuller rear sight and a gas tube with a Picatinny rail on it. (It has a brand name which escapes me at the moment).
11/23/2010 2:58:34 PM
Ultimak, that is what it is called.
11/23/2010 3:46:45 PM
In raleigh for the weekend. Whats a good shop to go browse at? Anyone know if a SC resident can purchase a shotgun here?
11/27/2010 8:39:41 AM
for shotguns i would first check out Fuquay Gun & Gold and this new gunshop right up the street from there called sovereign arms. also Young Guns in apex. about to head down the the fuquay shops myself.
11/27/2010 10:35:58 AM
I bought all of my recent stuff from Fuquay Gun & Gold. I've been to the old Sovereign location in Angier...haven't checked out their new store yet, but they seemed to have a bunch of AK stuff and offer some decent prices.
11/27/2010 2:00:06 PM
+1 for fuquay gun and gold
11/27/2010 6:55:21 PM
Ended up at Fuquay Gun and Gold, bought both a lasermax sight for my taurus, and a maverick 88 12ga. as an entry level home defense shotgun.Great place, people were extremely nice.Went to soverign right down the street as well, and wasnt really impressed. Guys didnt seem to know too much.

I played with a buddy's P-11 this weekend and I'm really craving a keltec now(though I think I want a pf-9 instead). Would I be crazy to go into a gun shop and try to trade in my p95 on one, or will they hose me on trade in value? Should I just resell privately instead?
11/28/2010 4:16:07 PM
They're a business and have make money to keep the lights on. That means they'll offer you 40-60% of what they want to sell it for. I've bought guns cheap enough that I could trade them without feeling ripped off but most of the time, you're going to want to sell it yourself.

lookin a shotgun scope...any recommendations?and about to get a 3030 stock...should be a fun build.
11/28/2010 6:31:15 PM
never used a shotgun with a scope, and not sure I understand the point of so equipping one.
11/28/2010 7:08:16 PM
you dont think for long range deer/bear/yote hunting its a good idea?for like a 75 yard shot with a slug?
11/28/2010 8:12:03 PM
why are you shooting slugs to begin with?...and even then, at 75 yards, with the accuracy (or lack thereof) you'll have, I'd be happy with a red dot sight.[Edited on November 28, 2010 at 8:15 PM. Reason : i'd rather use buckshot]
11/28/2010 8:15:24 PM
I prefer slugs...I know some prefer buckshot but my Remington shoots slugs really well.
11/28/2010 8:25:21 PM
My opinion is that, unless it's a dedicated slug gun (rifled barrel, etc) in a place where you aren't allowed to hunt with a rifle, I'd prefer to either shoot buckshot or a rifle. A slug in a regular shotgun is still such a short-range affair that, to me, it's not worth it.I've killed deer with buckshot...they dropped right where they stood, just like with a rifle...but unless I was running dogs (which is lame, in my opinion), or hunting somewhere that I felt like a short-range shot was by far the most likely, I'd much rather use a rifle. At any rate, 75 yards is nothing. You don't need a scope for that, especially with something as inaccurate to begin with as a regular shotgun shooting slugs. I think that even a low-power scope might be a hindrance in some situations. Iron sights (I like peep/ghost ring sights) or a red-dot reflex sight would be perfectly fine.
