Andy Dalton is the vet QB until Stroud is ready to take over
3/14/2023 5:58:47 PM
Hell yeah bring on the Red Rocket Rifle
3/14/2023 6:21:47 PM
I hope DJ Moore does a good job blocking for Fields.I'm not mad about the Dalton signing. He probably doesn't mind getting $8M guaranteed to train Stroud.
3/14/2023 10:02:48 PM
Signed TE Hurst.
3/15/2023 10:04:02 AM
I've liked most of our signings so far besides Dalton, and I don't hate the Dalton one for the money, just not the biggest fan of what he does. I guess it doesn't hurt to have some QB insurance in case Stroud isn't ready.Really big fan of the Hurst signing
3/15/2023 11:58:47 AM
You can’t go into the season with Corral and Stroud as your only QBs. Had to sign a vet with some real experience. I don’t love Dalton but the options were kinda thin
3/15/2023 12:04:49 PM
Hurst is a beast
3/15/2023 12:10:04 PM
Yeah your options at QB when you're obviously taking one #1 are pretty limited. Guys like Brissett aren't going to sign because they want a chance to start. So you're mostly looking at older veteran guys and Dalton is fine for that. Much better than signing Matt fuckin Ryan or something. Lots of scuttlebutt about trading Corral, which honestly makes sense because he's not gonna get the reps needed to really improve here plus he wasn't picked by this staff. Keep Walker around as the third stringer and get what you can for Corral.Hurst is a solid pickup who immediately becomes the top TE on the team. Personally would rather have signed Austin Hooper but whatever.]
3/15/2023 2:57:23 PM
Didn’t tender PJ Walker but I guess we could still bring him back under a cheaper contract
3/15/2023 4:44:22 PM
Yeah i saw that Can't believe they didn't keep the guy who threw the longest air-yard TD pass in NFL history
3/15/2023 6:20:35 PM
Dalton and Hurst?? What other gingers and/or former bengals can we get?
3/15/2023 7:19:26 PM
^^^^ I actually thought PJ could've been serviceable for a couple weeks while getting a new QB into muster. Obviously not a long term solution, but I liked how he performed this past season.^ Forget the Bengals connection, we've got 3 former Saints guys
3/15/2023 7:39:40 PM
Miles Sanders? Sure!I liked Foreman this past year. I guess this means he’s not coming back. But at least we’re filling holes.
3/15/2023 8:22:33 PM
Bears sign PJ Walker. I assume he'll start over Fields.
3/16/2023 12:31:39 AM
Absolutely, absolutely.
3/16/2023 1:39:59 AM
Thielen coming in, should be a good 3rd down possession guy.
3/19/2023 7:37:00 PM
Heard he's a real gym rat. Sneaky athletic. All signs point to them also looking to sign DJ Chark.]
3/19/2023 7:41:25 PM
Definitely gonna bring a Ricky Proehl level of leadership to the locker room
3/19/2023 8:06:34 PM
3/20/2023 5:42:33 PM
All those averages are positive.
3/20/2023 7:35:47 PM
That's a positive way to look at it
3/20/2023 7:36:44 PM
^^^ On the one hand, Thielen won't be competing for catches with a guy like Justin Jefferson this year (Jefferson, btw, was 2nd in that metric at 2.62 yards per route). Plus, I don't think we got him to be that kind of field stretching kinda guy, I think we're gonna lean on Marshall for that. I think he's gonna be more short crossers and safety-valve kinda stuff.
3/22/2023 10:08:25 AM
I hope Thomas Davis is wrong, if the Panthers moved up to get Anthony Richardson. If thats the case he better be the second coming of Patrick Mahomes. I just don't see the Texans or Colts going for him over Stroud, Levis, or Young.
3/22/2023 1:14:56 PM
nobody is the 2nd coming of Patrick Mahomes and there is no need to set a ceiling that high
3/22/2023 1:42:44 PM
You don’t move up to 1 to draft Richardson. He’d probably be there at 9. I just don’t buy that at all
3/22/2023 1:56:08 PM
you move up to #1 to take whoever you’ve fallen in love with the most, regardless of where a player may or may not be takenthere are no guarantees that other teams haven’t fallen in love with the same player that have picks before you, so you take away that uncertainty when you trade up to #1the Dalton signing has me leaning towards Richardson, but it’s a razor-thin margin. I’d be more than ok with him or Stroud, and I would be not ok with either Young or Levis
3/22/2023 2:06:27 PM
The Dalton signing was all about who they have in the QB room. Currently it's Corral who is basically a rookie again and Eason who is basically a practice squad player. They were always going to sign a veteran to backup/start if necessary. Not sure why you think signing him means they're gonna draft the rawest QB in the entire draft.
3/22/2023 2:38:08 PM
^ correct. ^^ yeah, you’re right. If he’s your guy then you go get him. But it would be crazy to give up all of that for Richardson who is very raw. I could talk myself into liking Richardson at 9 or later. But at 1…he’s just not been good enough at passing to get excited about at 1. But I’m no scout and I haven’t studied film so I don’t know shit
3/22/2023 2:44:05 PM
^^ because he’s still a decent enough QB to start for an entire season and not have to rush whoever we take #1, Richardson being the rawest of the two QB’s I preferI’m also fine taking a raw QB with the coaching staff we’ve built, as opposed to having a defensive-minded head coach and not having the infrastructure to coach up said raw QB[Edited on March 22, 2023 at 2:53 PM. Reason : .]
3/22/2023 2:48:23 PM
But I think no matter who you take, you’ve gotta have a vet on the roster ready to start week 1. I don’t see the Dalton signing as a tipping of the hand at all. Just a necessary move.
3/22/2023 3:03:02 PM
Now if we had signed Brissett, then maybe I could see it, but yeah, Dalton I don't think is a huge tell
3/22/2023 3:25:25 PM
I'm not putting too much stock in Thomas Davis' comments. I'm sure there are people in the building who like Richardson, and others who like Stroud, and others who like Young, and others who like Levis. I think it might be some intentional disinformation.
3/22/2023 4:37:16 PM
There’s a few that are eyeing Ben Finley for 2024, I hear.
3/22/2023 4:46:54 PM
Yep whoever they pick this year is going to get Josh Rosened
3/22/2023 5:24:17 PM
unless of course we pick Stetson Bennett, since he's too elite to fail
3/22/2023 5:31:47 PM
Officially got Chark. 1-year deal
3/24/2023 2:03:09 PM
Nice!
3/24/2023 2:35:39 PM
DJ Chark who?
3/24/2023 9:16:26 PM
https://news.sportslogos.net/2023/04/05/sources-carolina-panthers-to-unveil-new-uniforms-prior-to-nfl-draft/football/Lol Panthers getting rid of silver as a team color. This is going to be bad
4/5/2023 4:47:17 PM
Wtf no more silver? That’s dumb
4/5/2023 6:00:10 PM
4/5/2023 6:19:38 PM
sure ok team spokespersonGoddammit they changed this since i posted. I still think they are gonna do something stupid like make the blue uniforms the primary ones]
4/5/2023 6:20:36 PM
they'll probably change the shade of blue to Carolina Blue and rename the team the Carolina Tarheel Panthers, amirite?
4/5/2023 6:24:59 PM
^ probably!
4/5/2023 6:42:25 PM
They are gonna change their name to Carolina FC and just not have a mascot
4/5/2023 6:54:03 PM
Watch out, first round draft choosers! Eligible players will be wanting to come play in new uniforms in Carolina.
4/5/2023 7:35:13 PM
Seems like everything has shifted from Stroud to Young. I'm becoming OK with his size. Pause.
4/14/2023 2:18:01 PM
I’m hoping for Richardson
4/14/2023 2:21:14 PM
Give me Will Levis[Edited on April 14, 2023 at 2:55 PM. Reason : This is a joke ]
4/14/2023 2:55:19 PM
Yeah I too would like a QB who could neither win nor complete passesBut goddamn he sure can jump high]
4/14/2023 2:55:51 PM
