Now the question is he a hall of famer? That's an awfully short career, but it's a damn good one. 5 all-pro and a DPOY is a pretty good resume.
1/14/2020 9:23:34 PM
He was definitely on that trajectory. I think it may depend on who else is on the ballot when he’s eligible.
1/14/2020 9:29:01 PM
Personally I think he's a shoe-in. His career was longer than Terrell Davis (who is probably the best example of a short but great career in the HOF) and he played at an elite level longer.
1/14/2020 9:37:17 PM
a quick copy/paste from his Wiki:7× Pro Bowl (2013–2019)5× First-team All-Pro (2013–2015, 2017, 2018)2× Second-team All-Pro (2016, 2019)Art Rooney Award (2017)3× Butkus Award (pro) (2014, 2015, 2017)NFL Defensive Player of the Year (2013)2× NFL Tackles leader (2012, 2014)NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year (2012)that’s a hall of fame resumewhile longevity does matter, it doesn’t get much better than that he’s in the same camp as Barry Sanders and Gale Sayers in that while their careers were relatively short, they were the best at what they did while they played[Edited on January 14, 2020 at 9:46 PM. Reason : Gronk, too]
1/14/2020 9:42:54 PM
he should be a HOFer with ease imo.
1/15/2020 6:31:04 AM
Think he gets in but he was on a trajectory for a first-ballot. As it stands now, I'd be surprised if he was a first-ballot selection, just based on the volume of people that will be on the list when he becomes eligible.
1/15/2020 8:36:11 AM
youngest ever to win a DPOY awardit’s a shame some irresponsible scientist irradiated a mild mannered Aaron Donald with gamma rays, else Luke would have won at least two more
1/15/2020 8:57:39 AM
have seen some really stupid people say willis was better than keuchly so i wouldnt bet on anything given how much of a media silo the panthers are ini think national guys and football guys know the score tho so he'll be fine
1/15/2020 11:22:42 AM
Willis and Kuechly had very similar careers. People aren't stupid for saying one is better than the other. Willis was really fucking good.Stupid is Jake Delhomme saying Steve Smith is a first ballot hall of famer when in reality he is a fringe candidate.]
1/15/2020 11:34:12 AM
Another racist with a hunch that Brady coming to the Panthers means no more Cam Newton at QB.https://twitter.com/CBSSportsRadio/status/1217473985333559296
1/15/2020 10:28:06 PM
that clip had nothing to do with Brady being hired and doesn’t support your dumb argument at all
1/16/2020 1:26:22 AM
Phil Snow, Baylor's former defensive coordinator, is the new DC
1/20/2020 1:07:39 PM

ah yes, opposing offensive coordinators will be licky boom boom down

come on fellas, let's get weirdstick your dick up in her ear]
1/30/2020 7:01:55 PM
all the headlines are BREAKING NEWS, as if this wasn't completely expected. i think this saves about 8MM though so that's cool. Ian Thomas better be ready.
1/30/2020 7:55:42 PM
it was the completely correct and logical move to cut Olsen, but i'm still surprised every time Hurney actually does that with a veteran player.[Edited on January 30, 2020 at 8:02 PM. Reason : IN HER EYE]
1/30/2020 8:02:28 PM
Olsen says he hasn't ruled out playing for another year, but I'd personally be surprised if he did. He's got a future lined up and waiting in broadcasting
1/31/2020 10:08:57 AM
certainly sounds like Cam will be starting for the Panthers this fallI can now sleep somewhat easier
2/25/2020 2:15:47 PM
traded Trai Turner to the Chargers for Russell Okung
3/4/2020 9:40:57 PM
So they aren't rebuilding now?
3/4/2020 11:23:22 PM
What have they really done to suggest a rebuild? Not taken a risk on an injury-prone and aging Olsen? "Allowed" Luke to retire?
3/4/2020 11:35:10 PM
I just don't see a lot of point in trading a 26 year old pro bowl offensive lineman for a 31 year old pro bowl offensive lineman straight up.Here, this summarizes most of my feelings and also points out how it's a terrible financial deal for the Panthers as well! WAY TO GO MARTY!https://ftw.usatoday.com/2020/03/panthers-chargers-trai-turner-russell-okung-trade-gradeAnd also left tackle is the most overrated position in sports.]
3/5/2020 12:20:31 AM
tackle is still a more important position than guard, and a harder position to fill. and turner was the 29th ranked guard last year, and 3 of his 5 pro bowl selections are as an alternate. from some comments online, you'd think the panthers had just traded jonathan ogden for peanuts.
3/5/2020 12:31:40 AM
And they traded him for a guy with serious injury/health issues who is costing them a shit ton. There's no upside here.
3/5/2020 1:11:16 AM
the cap hit next year is nearly identical, and they could easily restructure his deal to spread out some of the dead cap
3/5/2020 1:12:23 AM
Pretty sure the dead money is from Turner's contract, can't renegotiate that.
3/5/2020 1:43:18 AM
yeah, you right. but i have read about okung possibly restructuring a bit. apparently he wanted out of LAC.
3/5/2020 2:13:39 AM
Still a bad deal. Add a bunch of dead money AND pay him more than Turner was making AND get nothing else in return. Panthers just got fleeced.]
3/5/2020 3:29:17 AM
i'm sure it's as simple as it seems
3/5/2020 3:51:53 AM
We started shopping Turner at the combine. What makes you think this wasn't the BEST, or even only, deal we had a chance at? Turner was coming off 2 bad years, hasn't been healthy since 2016, and we clearly had no interest in signing him after his contract ran up. Okung had some serious health concerns last year, but prior to that had been healthier than Turner the previous couple of years. If Okung kills it for us we could sign him and have 2 bookends with him and Moton, OR we could restructure now and lighten his cap hit this year and add another year or two on his deal. Maybe now we'll have an excuse to throw an offer at Thuney, haha.
3/5/2020 9:37:44 AM
Turner and Okung are both passed it (Turner got paid and stopped caring, Okung I think has been more injury related). This clearly seems to be a move to get Turner's contract off the books earlier since they dont plan on being competitive any time soon. You see this type of trade in baseball often - the dollars are similar up front but one deal is longer than the other so there's some type of sweetner in the deal to make up for that (in this case I suppose the theoretical upside of Turner caring again)
3/5/2020 7:59:54 PM
3/5/2020 9:45:38 PM
Panthers signing Juston Burris.
3/16/2020 7:41:58 PM
Hopefully he takes Tre Boston's spot

3/16/2020 8:16:18 PM

3/17/2020 11:22:23 AM
Not sure about this Bridgewater talk.

3/17/2020 11:33:36 AM
3/17/2020 11:38:00 AM
i mean at this point, unless we trade up or grab a qb at #7, we might as well trade CMC before its big contract time while his value is sky high right?if we are going to tank, lets just go ahead and trade down in the draft and accumulate picks, trade CMC, whatever. but also fuck trevor lawrence. goddamn this sucks.[Edited on March 17, 2020 at 11:44 AM. Reason : .]
3/17/2020 11:41:27 AM
I don't hate the Bridgewater talk. It sucks to move on from Cam, but he's probably my favorite of all the other available options. Rather go with him than an old at QB.
3/17/2020 11:47:27 AM
what will we get besides a cap penalty this year and 4th round picklets keep him and at least see if he can get better
3/17/2020 11:52:36 AM
that bridge seems to have been napalmedthey have fucked this up
3/17/2020 12:05:47 PM
Bridgewater isn't good enough to win anything on this team, but he isn't bad enough to lock up a top-5 pick either. I'd rather roll Will Grier out there if the plan is to tank.
3/17/2020 12:08:42 PM
I think Bridgewater is better than that.
3/17/2020 12:19:06 PM
it’s official the Teddy Two Gloves Era begins nowwe should tank exactly how the Dolphins have tanked
3/17/2020 12:39:15 PM
3 years, $60 million for Bridgewater, it looks like
