Liverpool down to their 3rd choice keeper

Coutinho to Bayern. Weird move that as they really need a winger and not what Coutinho brings.Honestly feel bad it didn’t work out at Barcelona since it was a dream move for him.

I recall City fans looking forward to VAR last year when Liverpool was getting loads of dodgy goals and penalties. Be careful what you wish for...[Edited on August 17, 2019 at 4:31 PM. Reason : "Since I will not lose, they try to help him cheat."]

So much whining from circles of the British media about VAR. I just don’t get it. Why shouldn’t you do everything you can to get calls right? The handball rule is what the issue should be. If you don’t like it, change it back. Though I generally like them and seems to solve the harsh decisions like the CL final last year.
8/18/2019 7:30:52 AM
It's stupid. People are just going to complain no matter what.
8/18/2019 8:39:17 AM
You'll think VAR is stupid when it costs your team last-second victories in the CL and PL. The review system has been a killjoy since it was first introduced at the Confederations Cup. "Not so fast! Let's wait five or ten minutes before you celebrate that goal."[Edited on August 18, 2019 at 3:11 PM. Reason : ruining the beautiful game]
8/18/2019 3:04:28 PM
There is so much discussion about it because the people criticizing are mostly former players who know how harsh it is in that situation and with the emotions involved as well. The fault is with the old rule and the "intention" part where handballs like that were ignored because it was accidental. I think there is an argument for it but that said the new rule is much more clearer in that these types of incidents will not pass VAR review. We have seen it now with PSG and City twice. Not sure if there are other instances but it brings much more clarity to the decision making process IMO and players need to understand that moving forward. As long as there is consistency in this then I am ok with it.I am also curious to see if players and particularly center half's will be able to get away with the shirt grabs and pushes. It happens a lot in the PL and I really hope managers have warned their players. Especially the fucking chuckle brothers at United. Smalling does that so many times on corners. Waiting around for the final match on a monday is absolutely brutal, especially the start of the season. Nervous but excited to see if the team is truly transformed in defense because its a pretty good test I feel.

it’s embarrassing for United that Lingard still starts at AM. He isn’t good enough for any of the top teams’ starting lineups and I’d probably include Everton and West Ham in that too. Martial finally becoming a regular goalscorer will be a big boost for them.

Lingard will be fine, he's a young developing prospect with a bright future.

I don't know. It seems like Real Madrid, Barca, and City did more strengthening over the summer than Liverpool. But sometimes "strengthening" can hinder team chemistry. Plus, City lost a captain who brought massive experience and stability to the team.
8/20/2019 6:15:32 PM
You can't rule out Juve (because...CR7), Tottenham, Atleti, and PSG if Neymar stays. Bayern and Dortmund could even be contenders. The CL should be fascinatingly unpredictable once again this year.

psshhh only peasants don't know what night to play on Tuesday or Wednesday. True elite teams know exactly when they play on Thursday nights.

Just a reminder of heelfan's PL supporting history for anyone that hasn't been paying attention to this hellhole of a website for the last 15 years: 2009-2010 - clearly states he is an Arsenal supporter with his introduction to the tww community but he also "likes several Manchester City players" which basically means they signed Tevez that year and it was clear they were going to be regular players in the transfer market for ballers2010-2011 - begins the year with a Manchester City prediction (tradition on here at the time was to predict your team's final finish) but claims he is "leaning Arsenal" near the end of the season2011-2012 - starts pro-Arsenal but clearly a City fan at the end (gee, wonder why)2012-2013 - only posts were to make fun of Arsenal preseason and doesn't post again for two years (hmm, what happened this season) until...2013-2014 - ... City clinches the title at the end of the season and now that it's safe City is comfortably one of the best teams in the league he's City til he diesshameless frontrunner and hard to take seriously when talking about team loyalties, rivalries, fan culture, etc.

I'm honored to have my own TWW biographer. For a while there, cheering for both Arsenal and City was almost like rooting for both the Durham Bulls and the Tampa Bay Rays. Arsenal became a farm club for City, sending Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Clichy, Nasri (my favorite Arsenal player at the time lol), and Sagna to the Etihad. Then Arsene Wenger had the audacity to complain about how City's big spending was bad for soccer City's free-flowing, attacking style was much like Arsenal's. I have read that City's owners aspired to emulate Arsenal's offense and to a greater extent Barcelona's.Yes, City gaining Tevez was one move that drew me closer to them in allegiance, as he was a player I admired for his tenacity and talent. I have been following the club long enough to remember being dismayed by Crouch's late header that sealed fourth place for Spurs and consigned City to the Europa League the following season. I was extremely disappointed when Arsenal sold RVP to United, my most-loathed club since I first started watching English soccer (Shrek, Ronaldiver, and Sir Alex irked me). Selling top players to rival clubs showed the club's lack of silverware ambitions, whereas the Blue Moon was rising and City was building a dynasty. Besides, as a Carolina fan, it made sense to support the only team in the top flight wearing sky blue and white. I still have a soft spot for Arsenal. They're like a beautiful ex-girlfriend in drug rehab that you hope will get clean one day.
