I'd give that flag another 30-45 mins. Anywhere taking bets?

^^ get as far away and as high up as you can, but don't drive. you're in for a nightmare, and it hasn't even really started yet. best of luck to you.

We dont have to worry about water. Just the darkness and the wind is getting old. I want to be able to see what is happening.

Just wondering how water isn't a concern. Are you in a house on stilts? Even if you're several miles from the coast, a wall of water is coming your way via storm surge, not to mention all the rain that's going to pour for the next several days.

You should have evacuated. It’s all on you now. Don’t complain about fear when you were mocking it earlier. I’ve been there thru a cat1. Not good. Never will do it again.

I mean I don't want anyone to die or get hurt in this storm, but it's amazing how people are surprised that these predictions are all coming true, 12 hours before this thing really hits. I'd offer thoughts and prayers and all that, but just wow. Please stay safe everyone. Don't drive anywhere- it's too damn late. Now is time to get to whatever the safest shelter you can ride it out in. And stop posting on fucking TWW. Save your battery life, because this is only going to get worse.

Most of the apartments here don't have patios, but some do. I'm on the side with the patios, but mine is empty cause I just moved in and haven't really used it yet. The apartment management people gave us a letter about readiness but it was basically stupid shit like "Stay inside" and "Don't burn candles". Fuck that Big Brother shit. What they should have mentioned is that people should bring their shit in from the patios, but I guess maybe they didn't think to do it since most of the apartments don't have outdoor space. These fucks have like full living room setups complete with lamps out there and then use the patios for extra storage. So basically there's a lot of shit right outside my apartment that could become projectiles at any moment and the owners didn't think to bring them in and no one told them they should.

Buddy of mine in James City (southeast of New Bern along Highway 70) says it's worst flooding he's ever seen. Retreated to a Holiday Inn somewhere.

'm from New Bern area, very familiar with there, Morehead City, Havelock, Atlantic Beach. The live shot the Weather Channel is using for New Bern is right next to the Neuse River. At the right of the screen you can make out a gazebo, which is where I proposed to my wife a few years ago.

I live in northern Indiana now. Going home in a week on an already scheduled trip to visit the parents who 2 years ago moved between Little Washington and Greenville.

Kinda sad at what I'm going to see when I head down to New Bern and Morehead. This thing hasn't even really started. It's going to last until Saturday.

Checking in from outskirts of new bern, all is still well. I understand downtown nb and low lying areas are flooding, but not catastrophic. Still a ways to go, but no regrats from me on staying.

1. That video of the gas station ceiling moving across the parking lot at Holly Ridge is going to be used a hundred times before this storm is over.
2. This is the most screen time Oriental has ever gotten.

Down to 90mph Cat1 in the 11pm update. That's good, even though it doesn't tell the whole story.

Man I hope my rental house in New Bern (Brice’s Creek area, off of Perrytown Loop Rd) doesn’t flood. I’ve got no flood insurance. Anyone heard anything from around there?

Duke, I've got friends in that area. I think that area is fine, but just trapped; no way in, no way out. I know Merchants store, near the ramp, is flooded across the road.

Made it through the night. Lots of big trees down. I know several people who have received a significant amount of damage to their house. Some with trees going through them, roofs missing/collapsed.

No flooding. We hung out in the eye wall for a while. Pretty intense last night. The worst of it is over. I never regretted staying. I'm happy I did. I'm terrified to see what my house looks like now.

I don't know why Durham would have trees down. I live in South East Durham and it hasn't even started to sprinkle here yet. The wind is mild.

This whole thing is very anticlimactic

RDU and into Durham have already had TS strength wind gusts, it's not surprising a few trees have come down.
