the only way to beat the 3 point onslaught is to break records in offensive rebounding, and in any given year there are maybe three teams capable of doing that - all of which are coincidentally blue bloods who get the best recruits

heh. in a year where I thought my bracket was toast from Round 1 and never looked at it again, I have my 2 highest finishes (4th and 5th). Everyone else must have really got blown up for me to finish that high and have such a horrible first / second round.

^Winning the bracket isn't about winning the first week, it's about having the most teams still in play for the later rounds, particularly the winner. Had a team that was 2nd to last after the opening weekend win the whole thing because they were the only person to pick Nova to win.

The points in the later rounds definitely offset a lot of early upsets as long as you don't have your Final Four get nuked too early.

In my group I decided to make a "measurement" bracket, and it was 100% chalk. It finished 2nd, and would have won by a landslide if Nova was the top seed over UVA(finals was UVA vs Nova).
