Yeah to sum it up:

More "scary" Pokemon(guessing Ghost type, which sucks because I already have a Gengar).
2x candy for catching, hatching, and transferring Pokemon.
4x candy for buddies.

The 4x for buddies is pretty crazy, also curious if the hatching candy will really net like 30 candy for a 5k egg, that's pretty nuts. My luck I'll hatch all stuff I don't want though.

Halloween event started earlier tonight. Gastly, haunter, gengar, cubone, drowzee, marowak and hypnos are everywhere. I hadnt caught a cubone before tonight and i have over 100 cubone candies...in just one night

Yeah it's a little annoying.

I hatched, caught, and used buddies to get my Gengar and Marowak. Now I could just go to a shopping center for 15 minutes and have both.

On the brightside the egg hatching and buddies with more candy is nice, just need some of these eggs to be something I need.

I was wondering what was going on. I got the update last night and when I walked the dog I got it out to see what changed, and caught like 5 cubones in a row, and candy is flowing like wine.

Also, I guess what's common today is a regional thing, because on my lunch walk I got no Cubones but like 10 Meowths. Unfortunately I don't care about this candy right meow

That's interesting. I've seen a ton of Cubone, Marowak, Ghastly, Haunter, Meowth, Drozee, and Hypno. I've only seen 1 Gengar, but it's basically like any other final evolution, if I already have 1, it's not worth the work to catch it at this point.

The amount of candy from hatching is pretty crazy too.

Annoying. I like to have the Pokemon Go music off and listen to Pandora when I'm playing. Now I have to turn the volume way up when I play.

^Yeah I'm over the "scary Pokemon" aspect of the event, but I'm still really enjoying the candy elements.

Already finished off 2 Pokemon I only needed a little candy left for(Shellder, Voltorb) and have already started on my next buddy(Diglett).

Anyone else not getting eggs as often from stops? Normally replaced quickly, now I've hit 10+ and gotten 1 or 2 eggs, and a TON of 2k eggs. This would be the ideal time to have hoarded up 10k eggs. Saw someone online hatch a Lapras with 64 candy...I'd just love to hatch a Lapras period haha.

I dont understand why pinsirs are 10k...theyre one of the easiest things to find.

My 10k eggs have been underwhelming as well. Best thing ive hatched is an 86 iv rhyhorn.

I had a nice little run on 2k and 5k eggs. I hit a Charmander this morning with 20 candy, hit a Vulpix yesterday to help me finish out my Ninetails, Voltorb and Rhyhorn earlier in the week to finish out Electrode and Rhydon, but 10k has just been awful for me. Sadly I have 2 ready to go now and I'm almost scared to start them because I hate all the work just to get another Pinsir/Scyther.

Dang I wasn't even aware of this buddy thing until today! I probably walked 15 km during the double candy special, think of all the buddy candy I could have gotten!!

4th 10k egg during this event...Eevee...well...at least it wasn't a Pinsir.

I hate 10k eggs.

Looks like today might bet he last day, trying to milk it and walk as much as I can for buddy/eggs.

At least doubled Niantic's profits for every day it was active. Not too surprising .
I also wouldn't be surprised if they cannot figure out how to turn it off, so if they need specifically to push a patch.

I just turned the music off on Go and haven't had any volume issues. When I first bring it up though it pauses my music but I can just press play without minimizing the app so it works well.

I've noticed that if you receive a notification while the app has lowered background audio, it will "reset" it and the background audio will play at normal volume.

I hated the spawns for the Halloween event(I had all prior to the event), but I really enjoyed the candy boosts for eggs and buddy rate increases.

Definitely helped me evolve 8-9 new Pokemon during the event. Feel like the less missing ones in my Pokedex the slower/more frustrating the game becomes.

What I have noticed is nearly every gym is at level 10 now and full of like 2000+ CP Pokemon. So either you have to battle through 10 just to take over a gym or if you find one your team controls there is no point because its already full.

I'm seeing kinda/sorta that.

I see the ones that are level 10 and stagnant for 1-2 weeks at a time. Then I see the ones that change teams 2-3 times a day consistently. Eventually the level 10 gyms get taken down and get moved into the lineup of constantly rotating ones and eventually gets pushed back up to level 10 and becomes stagnant again.

Also it really appears people are either using 2 phones with 1 on different teams or partnering with other player on different teams, because you'll see them dropping a level 10 gym down to 9 just to drop the lowest out and replace it with one of their Pokemon. Funny to watch them drop then a couple of minutes later pop back up and be filled.

It wouldn't bother me if they figured out some way for a gym to decay if it isn't fought or sparred against for a certain amount of time or something.

Just put a limit on how long a Pokemon can stay in a gym. Just have it set at like 5-7 days, then the Pokemon is returned and the prestige level of the gym remains the same. Would at least force some movement in gyms.

It looks like they've now put a speed limit on collecting items at PokeStops now. No more drive-bys. The change was implemented sometime over the weekend, even though the latest app update isn't out yet (at least not on iOS). Their Twitter feed is blowing up over this discovery by users.

Any idea on the daily bonuses? Supposedly, users have started collecting them, yet I have yet to see any show up (unless I just missed them), nor are they recorded in the journal.

I noticed on my drive in this morning I wasnt able to snag any of the usual spots I could get if driving slow (like 20 mph). Figured I was just a little slow this morning haha.

Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.45.0 for Android and 1.15.0 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.

- You’ll earn bonuses for the first Pokémon catch and PokéStop visit each day. You’ll receive a larger bonus when you do this seven days in a row.
- When you defeat the Gym Leader at a rival Gym, there will be a brief period of time where only you will be able to place a Pokémon in the open Gym.
- The amount of Prestige a rival Gym loses when you defeat a regular Gym member has increased. The amount of Prestige gained by training at a friendly Gym has been lowered.
- Minor text fixes

Sounds like fixes for what we just talked about. No sitting around trying to ninja a gym when someone takes it. Easier to take over a gym, harder to level up a gym once you have it. I agree some sort of max time limit in a gym would help keep people having to at least make an attempt to go snag a gym back and then some days it would have less people and be easier to take.

I am curious how they will handle multiple users assaulting a gym. Users in will not always equal the number of opening slots. Still has a potential first-in problem, though its a start. Prestiging a friendly gym still has the same issues it has always had, though.

And now it takes longer to prestige a gym? I already felt it was way more of a time estimate than I was willing to put in; admittedly I am casual player, though. This just makes gym leveling a complete non-starter for me.

Appears stops give more stuff now to make-up for the not being able to hit them while driving. Also seems the amount of Pokemon spawns is pretty high compared to what it was before the Halloween event, not just the #, but variety is better and they spawn in more locations.

Yeah they've heard people complaining about gyms becoming too stagnant and this is one of their efforts to solve that issue by making it more annoying to prestige and making it easier to attack gyms.

The problem is still potions/revives more than anything, hard to take down a level 10 gym by yourself when you're strapped for items and then they take away getting items while in a car moving >10mph.

I mean I've seen some level 10 gyms stay stagnant for almost a month now so I'm not surprised people are a little annoyed that aren't in any gyms.

So far as I can tell:

-Gyms are going to be much more volatile
-Pokestops give out a lot more stuff, and a higher percentage of not-basic-pokeballs.
-Pokestops don't work if you're moving faster than walking speed.

Apparently the Stops giving more items and more Pokemon spawning is a temporary deal. Apparently it's some type of mini-event that they're doing celebrating the new Bonuses until the 11th.

I thought the more stuff from the Stops was to make up for no longer being able to hit them while driving, but I guess that made too much sense.

What is considered walking speed? My g/f and I go through downtown cruising around 10-15 mph getting all the stops on Fayetteville St. Always nice having a ricksha in front of me

Lol,

I had to run through a 6000 gym three times to get it to 8000 this morning. I can't imagine taking one from 40K to 50K.

Yeah prestiging at the higher levels takes commitment.

Also think it'll just spike the having your friend bump someone out of a 10k gym and letting you just get the last 500-1500 prestige to get one in.

I definitely saw a level 10 gym at 49500/50000 the other day and got mine in. Seems to be the new strat is just to annoy the other team by not knocking Pokemon out, just bumping a gym down to say 30,500/40,000 to try and force the team to spend a lot of resources leveling it up.
